A 1955 American war film directed by Jesse Hibbs that has Audie Murphy as himself that is based on his exploits during World War II.

- Elites Are More Glamorous: Averted. Murphy attempted to enlist in the US Marines but was rejected for being deemed underweight. He was eventually accepted into the US Army, albeit as a regular infantryman, instead.
- Freakier Than Fiction: WWII hero Audie Murphy played himself, based on his autobiography. During the adaptation, he requested that certain parts of his exploits (like the time he had malaria and leapt on top of a burning, half-destroyed tank-destroyer to use its pintle-mounted machine gun and single-handedly hold off an entire company of German mechanized infantry for half an hour) be watered down a little since nobody would believe the real thing.
- Improbable Age: Downplayed, since it actually happened. At the age of 19, Murphy had managed to reach the rank of Lieutenant, and was in command of his own platoon, with several of the soldiers in his unit being a few years older than him.
- Older Than They Look: Audie was famously baby faced, looking almost the same when he was 35 as he did when he was in his late teens.
- Tanks, but No Tanks: The movie has Audie jump into a burning M4 Sherman to fire its 50-Caliber machine gun at German troops, in the action that earned him the Medal of Honor. He actually jumped into an M10 Tank Destroyer, although the two are very similar (The M10 Wolverine Tank Destroyer actually used the M4 chassis with its own turret and cannon).
