Killer Body Count is a teen slasher horror film. It was produced by Blue Ice Pictures and directed by Danishka Esterhazy.

Mistaken for a sex addict by her father, Cami is sent to a remote treatment center where adolescents like her are treated for sexual "addiction" through Catholic doctrine. However, during this time, she and her fellow teenagers at the center find themselves being picked off one-by-one by a masked phantom priest. It's here when she realizes her freedom and her individuality are intertwined in ways she could never have imagined before.

The film was released on Tubi on May 17, 2024. It takes place in Canada with a Cape Town, South Africa filming location.

Tropes:

• All Men Are Perverts: With the exception of Dan, all the boys at Beautiful Savior are horn dogs, as illustrated by the conversation they have in the shower room.
• All Take and No Give: There’s a running theme of women going unsatisfied during sex, and the guys tend to be portrayed as only caring about getting themselves off without paying much or any mind to ensuring the girls have their fun as well, as shown with Rob and Mia, as well as, to an extent, Cami and her boyfriend, Troy. The film addresses this by having it only be between the teenagers in heterosexual dynamics. The sex between Eugene and Tawny, who are adults, ends with Tawny getting off with no sign of satisfaction for Eugene. Ali and Chris flip the script with Ali making Chris go down on her specifically so she can finish and then leave. Cami gets her orgasm when she sleeps with Wyatt, who is another girl, though this is premised by shame and fear of vulnerability that Cami has internalized, which has prevented her from achieving an orgasm until this point.
• Ambiguous Innocence: Though Eugene presents himself as a nice person, his proximity and submission to Tawny suggests that he’s as responsible for the murders as she would turn out to be. His sudden outburst after Chris is killed only serves to further this implication. Yet then he privately suggests calling the police after Chris dies, and Cami later finds him trapped alongside Ally during the climax, indicating that he was as in the dark as they were… but then Tawny calls out that he’s “just as much apart of this as the rest of us,” though she never specifies what that means. Yet he was the only staffer to show reluctance about their abusive methods, with him also completely denouncing their murders.
• Anorgasmia: Cami expresses frustration that no one has ever given her an orgasm early in the film. It turns out this is because she's been afraid of being vulnerable through this release. Wyatt brings her to orgasm later for the first time.
• Appropriated Appellation: Early in the movie, Tawny refers to the girls as “whores of Babylon.” Cami uses this name for herself, Wyatt, Ally, and Eugene when they all confront the last masked priest.
• Asshole Victim: Tawny is killed by Father Tim. The onlookers are horrified, if only to watch a person die right in front of them. That said, Eugene is especially distraught by this because he’s her brother, and he cries over her dead body.
• Battle Couple: After they become lovers, Wyatt and Cami fight by each other's sides against the murderous masked priests.
• Big Bad: Father Tim is the leader of all the masked figures at Beautiful Savior, leading them in killing all the teens who refused to conform.
• Big Damn Heroes:
  • Right when Father Tim is about to kill Cami, Wyatt charges in and stabs him from behind. It’s not enough to kill him, and he does recover. But, before he can return the favor, Cami takes a plate of burning ashes and sets him on fire.
  • Ally, Eugene, Wyatt, and Cami show up just in time to save the cold open girl from being stabbed through the heart by the final murderous priest.
• Bisexual Love Triangle: Cami finds Dan attractive immediately. Before long though she finds Wyatt, her female roommate, attractive too. Cami turns down Dan before he's murdered and has sex with Wyatt.
• Bookends: The girl in the cold open reappears at the very end.
• Boom, Headshot!:
  • Poor Chris gets his skull crushed with a dumbbell.
  • Poor Mia gets her head knocked in when a masked priest throws a deceptively heavy chained ball at her.
• Brother–Sister Incest: Bree relates a rumor that Tawny and Eugene are having sex despite being siblings. Most of the girls refuse to put it past them because the book of Genesis allows for intimacy between siblings and the two of them are biblical literalists. The rumor turns out to be true, as Cami and Dan discover the hard way by hiding nearby as the two have sex.
• Butch Lesbian: Wyatt has a Tomboyish Name, dressing in rough, slightly masculine clothing with a nose ring, a Goth look and box braids, while she's into girls, showing only disinterest regarding boys.
• Call-Back: On Cami’s first night at Beautiful Savior, Wyatt tells her that the religious institution thinks it knows better than her and it tries to silence anyone who challenges it, encouraging her in resisting this. After Ally and Dan are murdered, Cami tells the freaking out Wyatt that the masked priests are targeting them all because they refuse to play by their rules, encouraging her to resist too.
• Caught with Your Pants Down:
  • Cami and Troy are caught while they're mutually masturbating at church by a janitor. This gets Cami sent off to a treatment center for supposed sex addiction.
  • After helping clean the chapel, Kevin heads into a confessional to masturbate to an illicit magazine. He gets busted by a masked priest, who murders him for it.
• The Cavalry: Cami, Wyatt, and Eugene appear in the nick of time to stop the final killer priest from murdering another girl just before the credits roll.
• Cold-Blooded Torture: Tawny strips Cami of her pants and forces her to kneel on rocks until nightfall as punishment for breaking curfew. This is done not only as physical punishment, but as humiliation, as it's done specifically in front of the boys as well as Wyatt. Tawny even disincentivizes her from getting up until further notice by threatening to do the same thing to the other teenagers. Eugene is made to help Tawny do this, and he is not happy about it.
• Confessional: Toby masturbates as he looks at a porn magazine inside of a confessional, and gets murdered for it by a killer priest.
• Damsel out of Distress: Wyatt gets locked in a room alone with the killer priest and seems doomed. It turns out that she fought him off by herself though and survives.
• Deconstructed Character Archetype: Cami is such a deconstruction of the Final Girl that it’s almost a subversion. She manages to survive the mass murders while plenty of other kids fall, and even kills the main slasher villain. However, she’s not a virgin, nor is she averse to sexual activity; in fact, not only does she have premarital sex during the film, but it was premarital sex with her boyfriend that led to her winding up at the treatment center to begin with, thus making her just like the other teenagers there. She also turns out to be into girls as well as guys, as she winds up having sex with Wyatt late in the movie. Furthermore, she’s not the only survivor.
• Disproportionate Retribution: The killer priests murder teens just for premarital sex and masturbation.
• Don't Sneak Up on Me Like That!: When Cami runs into Ally’s cabin after watching Rob get slaughtered, they check outside and find nobody. Right at that moment, Eugene walks into view, accidentally startling the girls to the point where Ally reflexively punches him in the nose.
• Double Standard: The center is known for punishing girls more harshly than boys for infractions, as Ally points out to Chris. The first instance is Cami being given a punishment for flipping Troy off during a sermon despite Troy having done the same thing. This trope becomes somewhat subverted by the masked priests, who target all the kids with equally brutal kills regardless of gender. Interestingly, multiple boys die before any of the girls do.
• Dreadlock Rasta: Wyatt is a confident, nonconformist lesbian with her hair in box braids which trail down to her waist. She's staunchly defiant of Beautiful Savior's trying to cure her lesbianism, and encourages Cami to defy them too.
• Dreadlock Warrior: Wyatt has long box braids and fights back to stop the killer priests.
• Driven to Suicide: Cami's mom killed herself by cutting her wrists, judging from a nightmare that she has of her.
• Eating the Eye Candy: Cami does this whenever she's peeping on the boys, especially Dan. A notable moment is when he's practicing yoga with his shirt off and she just happens to be walking by (though this is also where Cami daydreams about Wyatt as she's topless).
• Erotic Dream: When Cami catches Dan practicing yoga shirtless, she stares at him with extreme lust. After a moment, she suddenly starts seeing Wyatt in his place with her top off. She simply goes along with it until she’s snapped out of it by Eugene.
• Et Tu, Brute?: When Cami finds tape recordings of the campers’ parents belittling their own children and consenting to them being sent off to the center, she finds a recording of her father among them and lets out an anguished Big "NO!".
• Everyone Has Lots of Sex: There is a lot more sex happening here than in most slasher films, and it’s all on-screen. Given that the premise revolves around gay/premarital sex and religious attitudes towards it, this makes sense. Nearly every onscreen character has some, or masturbates at least.
• Everyone Has Standards:
  • Eugene is unsettled and dismayed at Tawny’s cruelty towards the kids, be it ostracizing them out of nowhere or torturing them. The latter especially gets under his skin because he’s ordered to hold the victim down.
  • He’s also horrified at the murders, especially with the victims being kids. He calls the murderous priests (Tawny and Father Tim) “heathens” for violating the word of God and hurting people they’re supposed to help.
  • The boys are disgusted by Tawny’s torment of Cami.
• Evil Brit: Subverted. The final masked priest at the very end speaks with what sounds like an English accent, but it's actually Afrikaans.
• Fan Disservice: Tawny pulls down Cami's pants to make her kneel on rocks as punishment, which leaves her in only panties. While she's beautiful, this is not sexy given the cruelty shown.
• Fanservice Extra: Most of the supporting characters are attractive. They're shown barechested (if male), in underwear (female) and having sex for both sometimes.
• Forced to Watch:
  • According to Ali, Tawny and Eugene were watching when their uncle, Father Luke, was dismembered and killed. Wyatt says that this explains a lot.
  • When Tawny strips Cami of her pants and forces her to kneel on pebbles, the boys and Wyatt are present and naturally horrified at the blatant public torture. Wyatt tries to stop it, but Dan holds her back for her own sake.
• Freak Out:
  • Subverted. After three boys are killed and Tawny and Eugene force the kids to remain on their schedules like nothing is wrong until their parents arrive, Bree loses her shit and sets her sights on Wyatt, irrationally concluding that she’s the killer and holding a knife at her throat. This turns out to be a planned distraction that allows Cami to take Eugene’s keys.
  • The teen priest from Ali's story lost his shit when he thought everyone was fornicating, which led him to killing them.
• Futile Hand Reach: Dan shares one with Cami when he's impaled. Wyatt knocks her to the ground to prevent her from being impaled as well when the killer priest throws another spear, and Dan drops his hand and slumps over dead.
• Goth: Wyatt has this vibe with her dyed hair, abundance of chokers, black nails, and dry, snarky attitude, while also wearing mostly darker clothes.
• Half the Man He Used to Be: Just when Mia has left Rob after banging him in the woods, a masked priest shows up and splits Rob down the front with a dagger similarly to Father Luke.
• Hate Sink: Nobody is more meant to be loathed than Tawny. She’s fake as hell, she’s queerphobic, she slut shames, and she even tortures the kids, especially the girls. And this is before she’s revealed to be one of the masked priests.
• Heroic Sacrifice: When one of the masked priests ambushes Wyatt and Cami in the shed, Wyatt immediately pushes Cami behind her (and consequently down a flight of stairs) to keep her safe and fights the priest herself, seeming to be fatally stabbed. Subverted when she comes back later that night completely fine and saves Cami again.
• Heteronormative Crusader: Tawny is homophobic. Though we never hear Eugene voice this rhetoric, Tawny calls out the kids (specifically, Wyatt) for being gay. Wyatt's grandmother sent her to be treated, as she's a lesbian, and considers this a terrible embarrassment. Father Tim later calls Wyatt "the worst of sinners", implicitly referring to her homosexuality, saying Wyatt's grandmother wanted him to kill her before he tries.
• Hypocrite:
  • Despite preaching to the girls about waiting for marriage and even chiding them for having sex outside of it, Tawny herself is sleeping with someone who turns out to be her brother Eugene. That said, it's worth noting that she speaks no objections or even tries to resist when Father Tim executes her for it, though she is clearly afraid.
  • Despite preaching that one should always follow the word of God, the masked priests break one of the Ten Commandments by murdering people.
• The Immodest Orgasm:
  • Ali loudly yells with pleasure when she comes as Chris eats her out.
  • Cami later loudly cries out when Wyatt brings her to orgasm through fingering as well.
  • Tawny is anything but quiet when she's getting off on Eugene.
• Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: How Toby, Kevin, and Dan die.
• Internalized Categorism: Tawny is supremely whorephobic and tears down the girls for being sexually active. We find out later that she’s not exactly an ingenue herself when she has a quickie with Eugene. This seems to be a huge case of her projecting self-hatred of her own sexual urges onto the girls around her, a trait that is rather common among people who are highly religious.
• Laser-Guided Karma: Tawny spends the entire movie assisting in the mass murder of children for being “sexually deviant” only to be executed herself for being “sexually deviant.”
• Let Us Never Speak of This Again: After Dan and Cami catch Tawny and Eugune having sex, they share a disgusted look and a silent agreement to never bring it up.
• Lingerie Scene:
  • Cami is shown pulling down her pants to show her panties before she and Troy mutually masturbate in the church early on. Later she and Wyatt strip to their bras and in Cami's case also her panties when they have sex too.
  • Ali shows her panties before taking them off enticingly when Chris eats her out as well.
• Lousy Lovers Are Losers: Multiple times in the film girls express disappointment about how the boys generally don't care about their pleasure while having sex. Dan is implied to be one exception with him actually being interested in girls beyond sex, and this may be why he's been so successful. Chris also satisfies Ali very vocally, though in that case it's her who refuses to reciprocate.
• Make an Example of Them: When Cami takes the fall for spying on the boys and breaking curfew the night prior, Tawny and Eugene punish her by ripping her pants off and forcing her to kneel on hot pebbles in front of Wyatt and the boys. Eugene is hesitant and highly uncomfortable in forcing her to do this, but Tawny shows no apprehension at all and even threatens to strip her completely naked and impose the same torture on the other kids.
• Making Love in All the Wrong Places:
  • Cami and Troy mutually masturbate at the church.
  • Mia and Rob have sex outside on the grass.
  • Cami and Wyatt have sex on a bench in a back room despite knowing there's a masked killer looking for them.
• Malevolent Masked Man: The murderous priests wear a monstrous mask.
• Man on Fire: Cami throws a plate of smoldering ashes at Father Tim’s feet, lighting him on fire and incinerating him to death.
• Masturbation Means Sexual Frustration: When Mia finishes having sex with Rob in the woods, she hobbles off to the shower to finish the job. She’s not shy about telling him that she didn’t get off.
• Maybe Ever After: Cami and Wyatt. Due to how brief the resolution and denouement are, it's never specified if the girls have begun dating after they survived the center.
• Moral Myopia: Brian, Cami’s father, is wholly unwilling to kill her even if it’s to “fix” her. What stops this from being a case of Everyone Has Standards or Even Evil Has Standards is that he was perfectly willing to send his daughter to a camp where she’d likely be killed. This makes him come off more as not wanting to be the one to get his hands dirty rather than not wanting his daughter to die.
• Ms. Fanservice: Cami, the protagonist, is a beautiful girl who's curvy and usually wears tops which show off her large breasts. She often wears tight pants too that outline both her legs and buttocks. Often her tops show her bare stomach as well. She gets several lingerie scenes as well and a couple sex scenes. Further, she's also got striking pale green eyes.
• Nonconformist Dyed Hair: Wyatt has long box braids partly dyed blonde as one part of her freespirited Goth style.
• No Yay: In-Universe, upon having heard Tawny having sex with her brother Eugene, Dan and Cami exchange looks of disgust.
• Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Wyatt seems to get stabbed in the heart when she and Cami are ambushed by a masked priest in the shed, but she comes back later that same night with no new injuries, so she clearly managed to fight him off on her own.
• Only Known by Their Nickname: Cami is only called her full name Camilla a couple times.
• Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping: Most of the South Africans put on fairly good Canadian accents, though Ali slips once briefly.
• Our Slashers Are Different: The ghost of the murderous teenage priest hunting everyone at the treatment center in this movie is actually a bunch of normal human beings with sharp weapons who target the teenagers because they believe them beyond saving.
• Parental Abandonment: Cami's mother took her own life long before the events of the film even began. Her dad later also kills himself rather than murder her.
• The Peeping Tom:
  • When Cami first gets to Beautiful Savior and breaks down in the bathroom, the boys are eavesdropping through a pipe connected outside.
  • There’s an instance where the girls peep on the boys in the shower through a boarded-up wooden door with a hole in it, though they get busted when Eugene looks through it and sees them.
  • Cami and Wyatt spot Rob having sex with Mia in the grass. They watch it from hiding.
• Pint-Size Powerhouse: Ali works out and thus is pretty strong for someone so petite. She's capable of pushing a boy almost twice her size back and nearly knocking Eugene over with a single reflexive punch to the nose.
• Pun-Based Title: The title is a reference to how the term "body count" is used to count how many people someone has killed as well as how it’s come to also count how many people someone has slept with. The term "killer" can be used as an emphatic adjective as well as a noun to denote someone to kills.
• Queer Establishing Moment: Cami turns out to be into girls too when she has an Erotic Dream about Wyatt, another girl. Wyatt is shown to be a lesbian when she reciprocates Cami's hitting on her, having shown disinterest in boys.
• Queer Rebel: Wyatt is a proud lesbian who has a nonconformist style, and refuses to go along with attempts at "curing" her. She encourages Cami, who's Wyatt's Love Interest and a bisexual girl, to defy this as well.
• Queer Romance: Cami and Wyatt get closer together over the course of the movie, a big example being when Cami asks to share her bed with Wyatt in order to feel safe. They have sex just before the climax, and Cami is particularly grieved by Wyatt’s apparent murder in comparison to that of other victims at the compound. It’s never confirmed whether Cami and Wyatt truly remain together in the end.
• Real Men Wear Pink: Downplayed. When the girls are watching the boys in the shower, Cami hears the conversation turn to her, with most of the boys talking about her body. Dan prefers to look beyond looks and see what her personality is like, prompting the other boys to figure out that he likes talking about "feelings and shit". Otherwise he acts quite manly.
• Really Gets Around: Dan tells the other boys he's been with "twenty nine and a half" women. He doesn't get to clarify what the "half" entailed since they're interrupted.
• "The Reason You Suck" Speech:
  • Tawny never misses an opportunity to tear into the girls, calling them deviants and “the whores of Babylon” and claiming that they defile every man they touch.
  • Father Tim also dresses Cami and Wyatt down for the same reason in the climax.
• Red Oni, Blue Oni: Eugene, blue, is nicer and less onboard with harming the kids, and Tawny, red, who basically runs the camp with an iron fist, is more prone to losing her temper and is more willing to tear the kids down physically and emotionally. Cami even says that Eugene seems “less intense” early on, and Father Tim calls him an “emasculated boy.” The way they behave when punishing Cami for breaking curfew and spying on the boys’ shower further differentiates them; Tawny is remorseless with her thinly veiled sadism, and Eugene is apprehensive and rendered silent with guilt.
• Redemption Equals Death: Father Tim orders Cami’s dad, Brian to kill her with a dagger to “destroy her unclean body” and save her. He looks as though he’s going to do it (albeit with regret in his eyes), but instead impales himself out of remorse for what he’s put his daughter through.
• Religious Bruiser: The murderous teenage priest from the camp’s legend, as well as all his copycats in the present-day.
• The Reveal: When the head of the murderous priests takes Cami to be executed, she defiantly pulls off his mask. Much to her shock, it’s Father Tim, the pastor from her church who recommended Beautiful Savior in the first place.
• Romantic False Lead: Dan (though it’s downplayed due to how Cami starts to develop feelings for Wyatt). He catches Cami’s eye immediately and she’s charmed by how he’s interested in her as a person rather than just as a girl to have sex with. They’re also together when they eavesdrop on Eugene and Tawny and share a moment of awkward shock and disgust as they overhear them having sex. The story further sets up a potential romance between them by having him be the only remaining boy once it becomes clear to everyone that someone is hunting the children. Tragically, he gets speared through the stomach and dies that same night. It turns out Cami’s true romance was Wyatt all along.
• Rousing Speech: Cami gives one to the terrified Wyatt in the shed. Combined with a "No More Holding Back" Speech.
• R-Rated Opening: The film opens on two teens having sex in a tent before they're attacked; the boy's murdered and the girl flees.
• Sex Signals Death: All the victims are targeted for masturbating and having sex before marriage, which the killers decry as being terrible sins.
• Signs of Disrepair: The neon sign on the brick wall outside the compound reads, “Breathe. Worship. Commit.” During the climax, Cami grabs a spear, but Father Tim grabs her from behind and swings her, causing her to toss it into the sign. Some of the letters are disabled, and the sign ends up reading, “eat shit.”
• Slashed Throat: Father Tim kills Tawny by dragging a dagger across her throat.
• Slut-Shaming: Given that the treatment center uses Catholic doctrine to address teenagers’ sexual urges, this is a given, especially for the girls. Often they're lectured on how premarital sex is wrong.
• Sole Survivor: Tawny and Eugene were the only ones to survive the murderous teenage priest’s massacre 20 years prior to the movie’s event.
• Statuesque Stunner: Cami and Wyatt are quite attractive girls, while also the tallest female characters.
• Subverted Trope: The movie violates a number of common elements found in previous slasher flicks. For example, it takes multiple victims before a character of color dies, none of the queer characters die, and the Final Girl is a sexually active queer person and not the only survivor.
• Their First Time:
  • A teen couple opens the movie by having sex in the forest near the center. The girl asks if it’s supposed to feel so weird, saying it was her first time ever.
  • Cami also has sex with Wyatt near the end of the film. Though she's had sex before, this is her first time with a girl and the first time she's ever had an orgasm.
• Token Minority: Mia is the only Asian teen (specifically played by an Indian South African).
• Token Minority Couple: Cami and Wyatt are mixed race, the only characters of this heritage. Both are also the only queer characters (Cami's bisexual and Wyatt's a lesbian). They become lovers, although it's left ambiguous if they'll stay together.
• Tomboyish Name: Wyatt, a slightly Butch Lesbian, has a boy's name too.
• Toplessness from the Back: Wyatt is shown topless from the back while Cami imagines her during her Erotic Dream.
• Twofer Token Minority: Cami and Wyatt both are the only mixed race girls, while also the sole queer characters. For her part, Cami's dad is white while her mom at least was part black. Wyatt has a white grandmother, while clearly appearing to have black ancestry too. Cami turns out to be bisexual, with her attracted to boys but also Wyatt, who's a soft Butch Lesbian into her as well.
• Urban Legend: The murderous teenage priest. In 2014, 2 decades prior to the movie’s events, a 17-year-old priest-in-training saw people at the center praying, but because he thought they were having sex instead, he lost his mind and started killing them. Apparently, Tawny and Eugene were hiding in their room when their uncle, Father Luke, was the last one to die. Upon regaining his senses, the child ran off into the woods crying and looking as if he’d been possessed by the devil. The church covered the massacre up with a story about zebra mussels, and the boy was never seen again.
• Villainous Incest: Tawny, a sadistic woman who's also a murderer, is having sex with her brother Eugene.
• Vomit Indiscretion Shot: During one dinner, after Tawny gets through dressing down the remaining teenagers, Bree barfs up her food… and a vital organ, resulting in a death by food poisoning.
• Wall Bang Her:
  • Ali gets eaten out by Chris up against a locker.
  • Eugene and Tawny have sex up against a mirror.
• Would Hurt a Child: The main targets of the murderous teenage priest (rather, the staff) are the teenagers at the compound.
