Get In (French: Furie, no relation to the 2019 Vietnamese action film) is a 2019 French Thriller Film written and directed by Olivier Abbou and starring Adama Niane, Stéphane Caillard and Paul Hamy.
Paul (Niane) and Chloe (Caillard) Diallo return from a two month RV trip with their son, Louis, only to find that their home is occupied by squatters and that they are barred from entry. Complicating things, the squatters have some legal basis for their occupancy, as there was a document signed authorizing them to pay the utility bills while the Diallos were away, there is some emotional entanglement as one of the squatters, Sabrina, is the long-time babysitter of Louis, and Paul, being black and in a mixed race relationship, may be the subject of legal discrimination. While the lawyer for the Diallos claims it is an open-and-shut case, it drags out for months, during which time the family is living out of their RV in a campground owned by a former boyfriend of Chloe, Mickey. Paul finds an outlet for his simmering anger when Mickey starts suggesting a more proactive approach to regaining the property, setting the scene for a bloody home invasion.
No relation to Get Out (2017).
This film exhibits the following tropes:
- Car Fu: Paul takes out three of the home invaders by crashing his mobile home through the wall.
- Chekhov's Gun: Seemingly invoked when Louis finds a realistic toy gun by the lakeside, and Paul confiscates it, but it doesn't show up in the plot thereafter.
- Fan Disservice:
- Caillard spends a decent bit of the last act topless, but it's only after she's been beaten unconscious and had her shirt ripped off by Mickey.
- Similarly, the sex scene in the closing credits is intentionally made to be extremely unsexy.
- Malevolent Masked Men: The home invaders show up in pig masks, a call back to the invasive hogs at the warehouse where the parties are held.
- Rasputinian Death: Mickey is repeatedly bludgeoned, caught in an exploding RV, badly burned with the mask melted to his face... and he still may have escaped on his own two feet.
