- Laryna's fics are different in that most for one reason, an extremist in-sight on every characters' mind which expands and adds depth to the characters. She's got several one-shots, collections of drabbles and even long stories, and explored almost every character up to Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening.

- She has good writing skills and uses OCs constructively to support a gradual world-building and writes dialogue with a good sense of humor. She has one-shots, short-story collections and long stories that make up a nice fanon and explores different modes of and styles of writing. Really good at keeping canons within character but still gives them a slight personal spin that's welcome.

is where her fanon begins and it's still one of her best fanfics. Her portrayal of a very young, teenaged Dante is hilarious and pretty on the nose and his interactions with her OC are for the most part really entertaining. Starts a bit slow and some scenes are overdone but it makes up for it with atmosphere and Dante and Tess' developing friendship. Now has its own trope page here.

- For those looking for the lighter side of the DMC-verse, wingsofthenight delivers a good number of fluff on both AUs and canon that'll fill one's dark soul with light, although there are the bittersweet moments. Recommended reading among would be the AU Found where Dante is Nero's father, and Brave Shine which takes a new twist regarding Vergil's presence in Project × Zone.

- There aren't enough words to describe how terrific TheWritingSquid's fics are, from world building to characterization to miscellaneous details, even with AUs. From the Disaster Dad AU series where Vergil discovers and raises a toddler Nero, to the Rebirth series post-5 of Vergil learning how to live in the Human World again and get along with the others, to the The Bonds of Family series where a different path is taken in regards to Vergil on top of the Qliphoth, and other DMC works, they're all a delight to read. Do be warned on going through emotional whiplash (in a good way!).

- The main reason this author is good is for their long-running series 'Human History', an in-depth exploration of Sparda and his rebellion. This is the only fic in the fandom that does such a thorough job of exploring Sparda and his rebellion, and is filled with some great character arcs and side characters

- Synopsis: Fenrir and Hantu are a pair of demons who at one point were under the legendary knight himself. Following his change of heart, they followed as well. The duo hid in the human world, keeping away from the prying eyes of the demon world. However, something or another always seems to pull them back into conflict with the demons. Pre DMC3 for the most part. No word on shipping yet.
- Comments: Definitely a good fic. Ghost has taken the time to do his research on the lore of Devil May Cry and executes the plot well. There is also remarkably little interaction with canon characters so there is no OOC. The characters in question, despite being vague self-inserts, are far from Mary Sue's and are truly their own people. The power scale is also well respected; Hantu and Fenrir aren't slapping around Devil Knights like nothing. If you want a good fic, check it out. Still being updated, despite how slow.
Arrested Ancestry by riversrunthroughme

- Synopsis: Nero didn't sign up to be interrelated to Sparda's psychotic Wonder Twins. Just his luck: They won't leave him the hell alone. Evil abounds, Vergil raises s'more hell, and Kyrie takes up swearing. Dante just can't believe this crap keeps happening to him. Post-DMC4, hints between Nero and Kyrie but really more of a Gen Fic than anything.
- Comments: Probably the best explanation of Nero's Devil Bringer and his connection with Vergil this troper has ever seen. On top of that, the story manages to introduce Lady, Trish, Dante and pretty much every other major player in the series, and has a slightly more forceful but not entirely unbelievable personality for Kyrie. Brilliant fic, wonderfully written and engaging despite possibly being abandoned. Definitely worth a look anyways, probably the best one this troper has found in the fandom yet.
- Agreed. It's pretty well written, and despite being Dead Fic it's worth a read; it's entertaining.
- I can't recommend this one. I for one have no problem with swearing in a story if it's in character, but this fic Flanderized Nero's mouth to the point where it was just obnoxious. If the story ended up going somewhere, I'd suggest it, because the writer is actually pretty good, but since it really doesn't go anywhere (and pulls a massive Retcon out of nowhere), I'd say you're better off passing this one by.

This Emptiness is so Real by Night Companion

- Synopsis: Post DMC4, Dante heads back to Fortuna on an impulse to check up on Nero, if only because of the possibility that Nero is the only blood relative he has left and to ease his own loneliness.
- Comments: Somewhat narmy summary aside, it's quite well written. Night Companion plays on the teasing hints of Nero's relationship to Dante, and portrays Dante strongly in the Big Brother Mentor, emphasis on "big brother". Granted, it's only two chapters, but it's a good introspection piece with some action.
Its Own Sort of Elegance by Bakageta

- Synopsis: Kyrie deals with grief, thinks about the Devil Bringer, and begins anew.
- Comments: This is one of those "quiet" fics, where it's introspection, and Bakageta does it beautifully. This piece focuses on Kyrie's thoughts regarding Nero's Devil Bringer post-DMC4, and the simple beauty of the description of his arm, as well how they're both handling their grief.

- Synopsis: Where Nero steals Dante's pizza the first time they met, Nero runs away from the police the second time they met, and where Nero finally comes to live with Dante after their third meeting.
- Comments: AU, taking place during the anime post episode 8, but spoilers for all four games and anime. Dante is Nero's father here, and Rhiw surprisingly works out a rather well-done father!Dante with a son!Nero. Dante may seem OOC with several Papa Wolf moments, even during the sink-or-swim phase, but if one takes into account the events of DMC3 and his background, it's rather justified. This line really tugs the heart strings when both finally have an actual face-to-face and Nero voices a child's fear that many will have questioned as children: nobody wanting him."I want you, Nero." Dante said quietly, "I'll always want you. You're mine, my blood."

- Synopsis: Dante's not sure what he has to offer the girl who has everything, but if she ever needs him, he'll be right there to answer the call. Evidently, Patty needs him a lot.
- Comments: A very heartwarming fic set at varying points in the series after the anime, focusing on Dante being a surrogate not-dad to Patty as she is growing up, with Trish and Lady helping out at times. Whether it's being called to her school as an emergency contact or acting as chaperones for campus tours, PrecariousSauce does a wonderful job at keeping the Devil May Cry crew in character when facing the relatively normal situations they end up in here. The final chapter, set after the events of the fifth game, caps off this story beautifully.

Yet as he tries to build a new future for himself, he finds out that his past is never far behind. *Contains spoilers for the end of Devil May Cry 5*
- Comments: Taking place after Devil May Cry 5, the fanfic focuses on Vergil adjusting to life in the human world, specifically his estranged son Nero and new coworkers. Notably, it does not gloss over Vergil's previous crimes. Acceptance is something he has to work for as he finds common ground with the people around them. Just a mix of heartwarming domestic drama and the epic action you'd expect.

- Synopsis: Matier knows, when she walks by the sea to find a small white shape floating in the water, that the happenstance is guided by fate. She waddles without hesitation in the shallow water and picks up the minuscule creature wrapped in its own wings, white feathers hiding a small beak. Its very body glows faintly, its light weak but still alive. The demonic energy is faint, but unmistakable. Matier touches the dark claws of its hand, then the even blacker talons. When they reflexively contract around her finger, prickling the skin, she smiles and runs her thumb over them.
- Comments: A nice and heartwarming look into Lucia's childhood and her relationship with Matier.

- Synopsis: Vergil wishes that children came with manuals or… reason. This whole fatherhood thing seems to fall outside his grasp, especially when Nero likes everyone in the family except for him. An 'everyone is alive' AU.
- Comments: A very well-written fic that takes place in an AU where Sparda never disappeared, Eva is still alive, and Vergil found Nero when the latter was still a young child and now has to adjust to being a father while dealing with supernatural threats.

- Synopsis: A look at what a possible relationship between Dante and Lady would involve. During and post DMC3.
- Comments: The title and this troper's vague summary don't do it justice. It's really, really good. Possibly the best-written Lady I've ever seen, not to mention a refreshing perspective on Dante. There's some strong language and suggestive material, not to mention is IS a lemon, but as someone who normally doesn't enjoy that I recommend reading it anyway. Skip the one M-rated chapter if you have to, because for the most part this is some of the best characterization you'll find in the fandom. I can't even describe it any better than the summary above, it's just the kind of story you enjoy anyway. Furthermore, it's still updating, which is rare for any good fic.
The Passage of Time by Celestially

- Synopsis: Lady put up walls. It wasn't that she hated his demonic heritage—not anymore—she simply refused to let him in. It had fascinated and frustrated him ever since they met in Temen-ni-gru, but Dante knew she'd cave eventually. He would just have to wait.
- Comments: This story, and its companion fic Ephemerality (which focuses on Lady's point of view instead of Dante's), focus again of the interaction between Dante and Lady during DMC 3...with the added benefit of seeing their on-and-off oddball relationship progresses through the years and various other games, past the second game when Dante leaves for hell. Definitely worth a look.
Killing Moon by ShyAnon (AU, M/F sex)

- Synopsis: The story is set after the first game. After Vergil returns from Hell, Lady reluctantly agrees to help him recover his demonic powers. It's told mostly from Lady's point of view, as she struggles with her feelings for the twins.
- Comments: It's an immersive story, pretty well written. The pairing is well-developed, and the characters aren't OOC.

- Synopsis: Sometimes I think we are like Wrath, o my Brother; stubbornly holding on to a heavy and precarious hatred that will ultimately destroy us both.
- Comments: If the thought of incest doesn't immediately turn you off from this story, I highly reccomend giving it a shot. Absolutely my favorite depiction of Vergil I've seen in a fanfiction so far, and I think they do wonders with the story and the writing. If you don't do a lot of reading, you may want to keep a dictionary on hand for a few chapters, but the wording is beautifully done and the story is excellent.

For the stylish hunter for hire, the words 'chaos' and 'an army of demons' ring only one thing in mind…jackpot!
- Comments: A well-written Multi-crossover fanfic with five titles, Devil May Cry, Shugo Chara, Zettai Kareshi, Negima, and Rosario + Vampire that I highly recommended.

- Comments: Spot on characters, the author's usual humour and Umbridge being injured while fleeing a gang of armed fifth years... What more could you ask for?
- Hellscourge:This troper can only point out that this fic is well written, hilarious and has a lot of shoutouts (Simpsons, Sailor Moon, etc). I am not sure how well the new Professor of DADA is portrayed, as I never played that particular game, but the reasoning behind his actions is very well done and plausible for me to understand.

- Synopsis: Dante is hired by Professor Victor Donovan of DOATEC to deliver a package to Kasumi and ends up embroiled in the war between DOATEC and the Mugen Tenshin clan. To make matters worse, Donovan has teamed up with Vergil and an army of demons to gain a great power sealed away by Sparda long ago...
- Pairing(s): For DMC characters there's Dante/Lady, Dante/Helena, and Dante/Christie while DOA has Ryu/Kasumi(teased), Ayame/Eliot, and pretty much every DOA character has a chance to be paired with someone.
- Comments: Ongoing. While the plot itself might be hit or miss for some, it has great character development and insight, especially the rather underdeveloped DOA characters. The minor Oc's also add some much needed backstory. The main draw is the character interactions (i.e.: any scene with Dante and the ninjas). The scene where Dante meets Bass is a personal favorite.
- ...There is no Dante\Lady, but there is Dante\Trish (with all the squick-y implications intact). Also, the story seems to be steering more towards Dante\Helena recently but it seemed like the author was wingin' it when it came to Dante, at least at first.

Times might have changed, but the insanity of Fairy Tail has not.

- Comments: Only two chapters so far but the setup is very appealing. Apparently after the UBW route. Shirou as a Scathach student. Rin and Waver once again becoming masters. Sakura was kidnapped. Dante becomes master of Artoria Pendragon (Lancer Alter). Two teams like in Fate/Apocrypha each with their own Son of Sparda as a master.

- Synopsis: Homura Akemi has made countless attempts to defeat the witch Walpurgisnacht, turning back time every time she fails, repeating the same month over and over, with no one even being aware of it. After one such repeat, she meets a man in a stylish red coat, claiming to be aware of time looping. Will the presence of this man be enough to change her fate?
- Comments: The second fanfic to get me interested in the PMM Universe, Time and a Word is one of the few DMC fanfics out there that I actually enjoy. Set after the ending of DMC 5, Dante and Vergil have returned to the human world...only to discover that not much time has passed since they left. Eventually, Dante realizes that it's because of Homura's Time Loop and (after fucking around a bit) decides to help the girl out to end it (since he remembers the loops thanks to his Time Manipulation powers/abilities). What follows is Dante being his typical self while fucking around with the Magical Girls. It's one of the few fics that I can honestly say gets Dante's personality right, actually shows off how he fights, and keeps things interesting. Best of all: No Shipping!
- Unfortunately, the Author takes a LONG time to write Chapters. Thus the fic might as well be on hiatus at this point. In addition, it follows in the footsteps of many PMM Crossover Fics. Where the fic focuses more on the Magical Girls and their lives, while the Crossover character mostly remains on the sidelines doing very little. Save for killing a few witches. Still though, I think it has potential to be great...if the author continues it.

- Synopsis: After the events with the Qliphoth Tree, Nero gets a job from the BSAA to go check out a small village in Europe on the rumors of B.O.W.s in the area. At the same time, Ethan Winters is on his mission to save Mia and his daughter Rosemary after getting all but kidnapped by Chris. However, Nero and Ethan get more than what they expected.
- Comments: Fans of both franchises know that Dante and Vergil could easily resolve most of the boss fights in any Resident Evil game due to their half-devil powers, even Nero being quarter-devil would have a bit of an easy time. Rialga actually took this into consideration and twists some details to where Nero actually has to work to earn his victories, and it's even lampshaded by both Nero and Ethan at a later point.

In the present time, Sparda was missing, while Eva was killed, leaving Dante and Vergil to be separated, both unaware that the other was alive.
Cain's daughter, Alexandra Juvy, who had witnessed the death of her parents at the hands of Azazel at the age of 6 years old, now grown to become a vigilante assassin like her father. This time, she has to find Dante before DarkCom or any other demons are after them.
Life where they are hunted by both humans and demons alike was never easy. Still, they will not allow any demons or humans to take their amulets.
