We have One for All at home is a My Hero Academia fanfic written by griffinguy24, who also wrote One for All and Eight for the Ninth and Changing Gears. It can be found here on Archive of Our Own.

Tropes that feature are:

• Ability Mixing: Izuku figures out how to craft Warp Gate by combining Warping, GPS Viewer, and Cloud.
• Abled in the Adaptation: All Might did not lose most of his torso in the fight against All For One. He still got a nasty scar, and his heroism has been significantly hampered, pressuring him to find a successor soon, but the internal wounds are nowhere near as bad as in canon.
• The Ace: Deconstructed. Bakugou Katsuki being this is what saved him from All For One. He was a good-looking kid with a powerful Quirk, rich parents, and a bright future. Kidnapping him would lead to a manhunt. That he also never truly struggled before U.A. (lacking the canon incident with the Sludge Villain) made him weaker because he didn't have as much motivation to train.
• Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Izuku was kidnapped, experimented on and tortured by All For One and his lackeys which left some severe scars on his psyche and their behaviors — such as calling him "Deku" — are a Trauma Button for him.
• Adaptational Badass:
  • Midoriya Izuku has way more Quirks than what One for All provides him in canon, granting him a phenomenal power boost, to the point where he dominates the Entrance Exam, netting 159 points, the highest in U.A. history.
  • Izuku's mother Inko is quite impressive compared to her canon self:
    • She utilizes her own Quirk to pick the lock on Dr. Tsubasa's clinic while searching for clues to Izuku's disappearance, inspired by Izuku's past suggestions. Whether from a Quirk evolution or just hysterical strength, Inko's rage and desperation about being blocked by a safe lead her to telekinetically rip the reinforced door clean off its hinges, by accident. She even wonders if she had a Quirk Awakening afterward.
    • By the time Izuku is going to UA, she is a top sidekick for All Might, effectively replacing Sir Nighteye in the investigative department for as-yet unrevealed reasons.
• Adaptational Early Appearance: Toga Himiko, Bubaigawara Jin, and Eri have already been rescued before Izuku begins his first year at U.A., with Himiko already a second-year there. Jin works at Might Tower as a housekeeper, and Eri lives there as Izuku's Happily Adopted little sister.
  • Izuku, at least, already knows the truth about Shigaraki Tomura, including birth name Shimura Tenko, and uses it when trying to shove the truth in Tomura's face during the U.S.J. battle, saying All For One didn't care enough about Izuku knowing about it to either lower his voice, or leave the room, whenever he talked about it. Whether he passed on this information to All Might and relevant parties has yet to be revealed.
  • The Aoyama family's connection to All For One is already known, with Inko discovering it during Izuku's captivity, and their cooperation when she reached out led to All Might tracking down All For One and rescuing Izuku.
  • Gran Torino shows up alongside All Might to meet with Inko when she uncovers crucial evidence in Dr. Tsubasa's old clinic, and Izuku calls him after the U.S.J. to inform him of Tomura resurfacing.
  • Melissa Shield appears early, having already met Izuku between his rescue and start at U.A., and helped design his initial costume. When he successfully synthesizes a copy of Kurogiri's Warp Gate, the two make arrangements for her to relocate to U.A. so she can be better available for his support needs.
• Adaptational Friendship:
  • Izuku is good friends with Himiko before he arrives at U.A. and possibly her boyfriend. Similarly, Himiko almost immediately befriends Ochako when they meet. Contrast the manga where she was a Stalker with a Crush towards both of them. His interactions with his classmates are also more open and engaging than canon.
  • Izuku is already close friends with Aoyama Yuga, with the latter calling him "brother" in French, due to Inko figuring out his parents' connection to All For One, thus he never becomes a spy or the League Of Villains. Aoyama is also close to Himiko, as by this point, she had already been rescued, and been attending U.A. for a year.
• Adaptational Heroism:
  • Toga Himiko is rescued before she went insane, and is now a second-year U.A. Management Student living with the Midoriyas.
  • Bubaigawara Jin, instead of being the S-Class Villain Twice, works for All Might as a housekeeper. It's clear from his brief appearance so far that he is being treated well.
• Adaptational Jerkass: In canon, Mineta Minoru was a coward, a sneaky pervert, and overall unpleasant. In this story, along with those traits, he views people as expendable weak links that he’s perfectly willing to abandon if things get tough. His unkind thoughts involving the girls certainly lost him whatever points he still had. It’s likely due to this that he gets removed pretty quickly, with Aizawa sending him to another big-name school, the best in Japan that doesn't have a Hero course.
• Adaptational Relationship Overhaul:
  • See Noodle Incident below, but it's heavily implied that All Might and Sir Nighteye's relationship has been destroyed after he did something, with Izuku, Himiko and Aoyama holding negative views of him and invoking Let Us Never Speak of This Again by saying they "don't talk about" the man. In addition, Inko has taken his old job at All Might's agency.
  • Izuku is close to the Wild Wild Pussycats, even referring to them with "big sibling" suffixes. They, in turn, consider Izuku their fifth member, especially after he was able to return Search to Ragdoll.
• Adaptational Superpower Change: Thanks to (A) being given All For One in a failed Grand Theft Me attempt, (B) being loaded up with various Quirks related to previous users of One For All, and (C) stealing several Quirks from All For One with his own residual copy of the Quirk during the latter's battle with All Might, Midoriya Izuku has a vast collection of Quirks in his arsenal, and while they are all from canon, with some comparisons to the previous wielders of One For All, it makes him infinitely more versatile.
• Adaptational Wimp: Downplayed. Bakugou isn't as strong as in canon because he didn't train as hard, lacking the Sludge Villain incident to make him feel helpless for the first time in his life. This causes his Entrance Exam score to be even lower than canon.
• Ambiguous Situation: In Chapter 2, during Inko's inner narration of her search for Izuku, it's stated she wasn't able to contact her husband Hisashi, theorizing he might even be dead and his company was just giving her his salary as a widow's compensation. Canonically, it was known that Midoriya Hisashi worked overseas, and had no involvement in the on-screen events whatsoever, but Word of God did confirm he was alive, even saying he could show up if possible (though that ended up not happening).
• Boring, but Practical: Because Izuku made duplicating Quirks far easier, All For One copied several less impressive ones (such as Tsubasa's Wings Quirk) that he used to round out his Nomu or to gift to subordinates who hadn't earned a more powerful Quirk like Hydra or Hyper Regeneration.
• "Both Sides Have a Point" Remark: When they reconcile, both Mitsuki and Inko admit they didn't handle the situation well and that the other wasn't entirely wrong. Inko desperately wanted to find her son but risked drawing the attention of the one who kidnapped him, as Mitsuki feared, while Mitsuki herself didn't want Inko getting hurt or killed but accidentally made it sound like she didn't care if Izuku was dead.
• Brilliant, but Lazy: All For One, as demonstrated by his using "Brawn Boost" to refer to at least five different Quirks, each with their own mechanics and limits, implying he couldn't be bothered to learn what makes them unique, unlike a passionate Quirk analyst like Izuku, who would enthusiastically go to such trouble.
• But for Me, It Was Tuesday: By Bakugou's own admission, he doesn't know if he's the one who beat up Izuku the day he was kidnapped or the one who coined his nickname "Deku", but he admits that he was likely responsible for both. Canonically, Bakugou was indeed the one who coined "Deku" for a reason that depends on the dub.
• Chekhov's Gun: Nezu is pleased to note that the teachers made sure to read their NDAs — regarding All For One and his relevance to Izuku — before signing them. This gun fires when Bakugou doesn't do this after the USJ incident, and Nezu reveals he just signed a contract changing his Hero Name to "Pretty Princess Dress-Me-Up" and approving relevant changes to his costume. He's not kidding either, as Bakugou notices when he goes over the document again. Thankfully, he didn't make copies, so Bakugou destroying the document is sufficient in voiding it. While giving a few-seconds-long lecture on the importance of reading legal documents before signing them, Nezu provides the actual NDAs for the class to sign so that they can be told about Izuku's Quirks, All For One, and their relevance to the League Of Villains.
• Combo Platter Powers:
  • Izuku is an even greater example than canon, having 139 Quirks forced on him by All For One, ^{such as...}Overclock, Shoulder-Mounted Jets, Rivet Stab, Springlike Limbs, Air Cannon, Shock Absorption, Transforming Arms, Air Walk, Dog, Scanning, Cloud, Muscle Augmentation, Body Bulk, Hypertrophy, Power, Search, Hyper Regeneration, Brawn Boost, Kinetic Booster, Fierce Gains, Impact Recoil, Energy Saver, Spearlike Bones, Hydra , Infrared, Air Wall, Bullet Laser, Wing, GPS Viewer, Dark Ball, Warping, Heavy Payload, Endurance, Scatter, Vibration Sense, Forced Quirk Activation, Tongue Web, Impure Beam, Hardflame Fan, Phalanx Pistol, Body Morph, Charging Muscles
    • About 50 of them are unique, as Izuku mentions having five Quirks that All For One labeled "Brawn Boost" even though they're all different Quirks with different mechanics and limits. This is the result of All For One trying to make him into a powerful Nomu with a modified knockoff of One For All.
  • Tomura has multiple Quirks too, but he can only hold 10 at a time. However, he keeps small hand-shaped Nomu on him to switch them out. ^{He rotates between...}Decay, Cartography, Tracking, Body Slider, Perception Blocker, Shed Skin, Hyper Regeneration, Subtle TK, Bombify, Meld With Shadows, Scanning, Hydra, Heavy Payload, Black Lightning, Shock Absorption, Air Wall
• Cool Big Sibling: Downplayed regarding the Wild Wild Pussycats. Izuku refers to them with suffixes ("-nii" for Tiger, "-nee" for the rest) often used to refer to an elder sibling, and has mentioned Shiretoko Tomoko (Ragdoll) helping him use the copy of Search he has, suggesting she took on an elder sister role for him after he properly met her and he returned her Quirk to her, with the others following suit. Eri, in turn, calls Izuku "Izuku-nii" after she was adopted following her rescue.
• Cruel Mercy: Mineta Minoru wasn't officially expelled to prevent his life from being destroyed from being expelled from such a high profile school as UA. Instead he's transferred to one of the other top schools in the country... that just so happens to lack a Hero Program, putting an end to his plans to become a hero to score chicks.
• Cuddle Bug: Himiko likes to perform The Glomp on Ochako and Izuku when she sees them. With the former, she'll then rub her cheek against the girl affectionately.
• Curb-Stomp Battle: Komori Kinoko and Kaminari Denki Vs. Iida Tenya and Bakugou Katsuki in the battle trial. Kinoko completely covers the building in her mushrooms, causing the opposing pair to collapse, barely able to breathe, before they even reach the floor she and Kaminari are on. She is then told to exercise better control, as had either been allergic, or Kinoko even less careful, she could have killed them by accident, to her horror.
• Cut Lex Luthor a Check: Jin uses his powers to become a one man janitorial staff for All Might's agency.
• Death by Adaptation: All For One, due to Izuku encouraging All Might to ensure the body’s cremation, and to scatter the ashes to the wind, just to be sure the villain can’t come back.
• Demoted to Extra: Aoyama Yuga is merely a General Course student due to not having to work as All For One's spy. That said, he remains a friend of Izuku, and interacts with him and the hero students in Chapter 6.
• Didn't Think This Through:
  • Midoriya Inko breaks into a hidden vault in Dr. Tsubasa’s old clinic for evidence, but didn’t think about not leaving evidence of her break-in, which would have painted a target on her back if All Might and Gran Torino hadn't had her brought to Might Tower.
  • All For One gave Izuku the "Dog" Quirk to instill Undying Loyalty in him, but didn’t consider that the boy wouldn’t have any for his abusive captor as opposed to All Might, his childhood hero, come to his rescue.
• Discard and Draw: Owing to lack of time and resources, Dr. Garaki could only give Tomura an imperfect version of All For One, that could only hold 10 Quirks at a time. However, Tomura gets around this limitation by keeping tiny hand-Nomu on him, allowing him to switch out Quirks in a fight.
• The Dog Bites Back: After years of being tortured and abused by All For One, Izuku is critical in making sure the villain is permanently killed by All Might, yanking nearly all of All For One's defensive and healing Quirks out of the villain's grasp. Also slightly more literal as Izuku is in possession of a Dog Quirk whose Undying Loyalty, intended to be to All For One, went instead to his childhood hero, who had come to his rescue.
• Do Well, But Not Perfect: During his time in All For One's "care", Izuku sometimes had to play video games against Tomura, who would attack him with Decay if Izuku won, but would also do so if he felt Izuku wasn't trying hard enough. Izuku had to learn how to play well enough to give Tomura a challenge, but without ever beating him.
• Everyone Has Standards: Bakugou was horrified to learn Izuku spent his time being tortured by villains being called nothing except Deku. He outright refuses to use it anymore, reviving the "Birdnest Hair" nickname, due to how messy his hair usually is instead, that he had given Izuku before he recognized him.
• Evil Is Petty: While physically torturing Izuku for years by using him to duplicate Quirks, All For One makes a point of only ever calling him "Deku" after learning of the insulting nickname, finding it amusing. This creates a Trauma Button that Bakugou unknowingly smashes when he recognizes Izuku, resulting in him receiving a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown and deciding to revive the nickname he had given Izuku prior to recognizing him.
• Expository Hairstyle Change: Rather than her canon buns that resembled spider-lilies, Himiko's hair is kept in twin tails, which Ochako notices resemble All Might's bangs, helping display her Adaptational Heroism.
• Foil: Midoriya Izuku and Shigaraki Tomura. Both were children who were made into who they are today by All For One's machinations and cruelty and both ended up with an inferior copy of the man's Quirk, yet they otherwise couldn't be more different. Izuku rose above his trauma and stayed a heroic figure, using his Quirks to help as many people as possible. Tomura wallows in his trauma and uses it as an excuse to lash out at society as much as he can, using his Quirks to cause as much destruction as possible. Furthermore, Izuku is fully aware that All For One was the source of all his pain while Tomura lives in ignorance and refuses to acknowledge the very idea that "Sensei" didn't care about him, or even engineered his suffering, even while Izuku shoves it in his face while calling him by his birth name, Shimura Tenko. Finally, Izuku's copy of All For One lets him take as many Quirks as he wants, but only if they're somehow related to a Quirk a previous holder of One For All had, while Tomura can give and take any Quirk but can only hold ten inside himself at a time, bypassing this limit by exchanging his family's hands for hand-shaped Nomu that are loaded up with the extra Quirks he doesn't need at the moment.
• Forgotten Childhood Friend: Izuku is technically this for Bakugou, but it's more like "Forgotten Childhood Connection" instead. He later recognzes "Deku" when his parents are looking through their photo album. It is clear, however, that they won't be repairing their pre-Quirk friendship anytime soon. Bakugou's Heel Realization and clear show of Your Approval Fills Me with Shame are signs of progress, though.
• For the Evulz: Sometimes, Tomura would disintegrate parts of Izuku for no other reason than to see how much of the boy he could destroy without killing him before his regeneration Quirks healed him.
• Grand Theft Me: Subverted. All For One tried this on Izuku, ahead of his own plan to do the same with Tomura, but it failed, and left Izuku with a residual copy of All For One that the boy ends up keeping, alongside a massive fraction of the villain's collected Quirks, severely handicapping him during his battle with All Might. Izuku never found out why it failed, and if All For One knew, he took the secret to his grave.
• Happily Adopted: Toga Himiko and Eri are living with the Midoriyas and All Might, rescued from the Togas and Overhaul, respectively, and quite happy about it.
• Heart Is an Awesome Power: While Kirishima views Komori Kinoko's Quirk as fairly weak, Izuku and Tsuyu quickly peg it for being incredibly powerful. Sure enough, she delivers a Curb-Stomp Battle to both Bakugou and Iida in the battle trial, with the flames both produce merely spreading her spores further.
• Heel Realization: Bakugou realizes how unheroic he really was during his post-Battle Trial conversation with Izuku, where the latter revealed that Dr. Garaki and All For One loved the moniker "Deku" so much that it was the only thing they'd address Izuku as, just like how Bakugou and all of the students at Aldera did. It leads to him deciding to revive the previous nickname he'd given Izuku before recognizing him.
• Hoist by His Own Petard: All For One kidnapped Izuku to use him for his experiments. Izuku ended up being instrumental in ensuring All For One was permanently killed.
  • More notably, All For One tried to force his Quirk on Izuku to make the boy a new host body. This, combined with frequently forcing Quirks on him in order to duplicate them, left Izuku's body used to handling multiple Quirks and with his own variation of All For One. The latter allowed Izuku to steal dozens of Quirks from All For One just before the man fought All Might.
• Honorary True Companion: Due to him returning Search to Ragdoll, the Wild Wild Pussycats consider Izuku their fifth team member. He in turn considers them his Cool Big Siblings.
• Innocently Insensitive: Bakugou Mitsuki trying to keep Inko from getting herself killed in her crusade to save Izuku caused her to say he "wasn't worth dying over", which made Inko think that Mitsuki agreed with the people who told her that Izuku didn't matter because he was Quirkless.
• Internal Reveal:
  • Izuku learns a lot of things during his captivity with All For One — such as One For All and its history, the truth about Shigaraki Tomura, or how much All For One loathes Kudo Toshitsugu — due to the villain not caring enough about Izuku being either in earshot, or even in the room, when he soliloquized about such things, either expecting the boy to finally become a Nomu, or to finally decide to kill him instead.
  • Nedzu informs Aizawa, Hisashi, and Nemuri about Izuku’s circumstances when the boy is seen using Oboro’s Quirk.
  • Izuku reveals Aizawa’s habit of expelling students before the Quirk apprehension test after Himiko passes on a warning about it from previous students of Aizawa's.
  • Bakugou learns what happened to Izuku when he disappeared, and how it factored into Izuku suffering a breakdown when he called him "Deku" again and giving him a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown for it.
  • After the USJ, Izuku reveals the truth to his classmates, and Bakugou admits to his past bullying. He also has a Heel Realization when Izuku gets to the part explaining why "Deku" is now a Trauma Button for him, choosing to revive the "Birdnest Hair" nickname he'd given Izuku before he recognized him.
• Irony: Hyper Regeneration is supposed to represent Yoichi, All For One's Delicate and Sickly brother, in the discount One For All Combo Platter Powers.
• It's the Only Way to Be Sure: Cremating All For One's body and scattering the ashes to the winds may seem a bit much, given what the bastard has done, but Izuku wanted to Make Sure He's Dead and so far it's worked.
• Kiss of the Vampire: Himiko drinks blood from Izuku in public, as she likes it best when fresh, can get very hungry, and not only is Izuku perfectly fine with this, he will also come to her defense if anyone takes issue with it. Also comes up in the story of how Izuku saved her: He'd been pierced by a spike villain to protect a then still-malnourished Himiko, who simply had a feast on his blood. Even then, Izuku didn't mind and just asked her if she was okay. In both cases, it helped that Izuku has Hyper Regeneration to replenish the lost blood, so there was no worry about him exsanguinating.
• Let Us Never Speak of This Again: When asked about Sir Nighteye, Izuku, Himiko, and Aoyama all deadpan in unison, "We don't talk about Nighteye." See Noodle Incident below and Adaptational Relationship Overhaul above.
• Make Sure He's Dead: Izuku advises All Might to cremate All For One's body just to be sure the man is dead.
• Mama Bear: Inko, who was willing to attack police officers who believed that she killed her son (even approving of it!) and broke into Dr. Tsubasa’s clinic to find evidence of her son’s abduction.
• Mundane Utility: Jin Bubaigawara uses his Quirk to clean rooms quickly while working as a janitor.
• My God, What Have I Done?: Izuku after remembering himself following his No-Holds-Barred Beatdown of Bakugou after the latter smashes his Trauma Button by calling him "Deku" again. He even spends a few minutes convinced he's going to be expelled from UA before Uraraka talks him around.
• My Instincts Are Showing: A side effect of the Dog Quirk that All For One saddled Izuku with, is a weak spot for being petted, complete with a thumping leg.
• Mythology Gag: Present Mic brings up the old "Izuku being All Might’s secret lovechild" theory when Nezu is explaining how Izuku obtained Cloud.
• The Nicknamer: Bakugou, as per usual. However, he quits using "Deku" for Izuku after receiving a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown from him and later hearing the nightmarish story of his capture by All For One. When he learns All For One loved the childhood nickname and exclusively used it from there on, Bakugou decides to revive the "Birdnest Hair" nickname he had given Izuku before recognizing him, having become disgusted with "Deku" due to villains loving it.
• No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: When Bakugou presses Izuku's Trauma Button, the other boy manifests several Quirks and starts beating him senseless while screaming that he is not "Deku" and "nobody's puppet, not anymore" in the midst of a breakdown. He later explains why, leading to a disgusted Bakugou changing his nickname for Izuku back to the "Birdnest Hair" one he had given him prior to recognizing him.
• Noodle Incident:
  • According to Himiko, Izuku is the reason Togata Mirio still has an arm. Whether he lost only the one and kept the other, or still has both and managed to avoid losing one, is still unclear, as are the other details of this incident.
  • When Iida asks if Izuku, Himiko and Aoyama know of Sir Nighteye, the three deadpan in unison that they don't talk about him. Whatever it was, it was clearly not pretty, given Inko still has Nighteye's job at All Might's agency.
  • Izuku and All Might's attempts to test the Impure Beam he got from All For One ended with the WHA mobilizing against them, believing they detonated a nuke. Izuku did get an autograph from Star And Stripe after that, though.
• Oh, Crap!: All For One's reaction when he realizes that Izuku stole every Quirk he had that was related or similar to those he'd already forced on the boy, most importantly, every regeneration and durability Quirk he had. And he's about to fight All Might. He couldn't even flee as Izuku had also stolen his flight Quirks along with Warping. Sure enough, he is Killed Off for Real when Izuku points out All Might should Make Sure He's Dead by cremating his body.
• Parting-Words Regret: Because Inko seemingly vanished off the face of the earth after their final argument, Mitsuki spent years believing that her best friend had been killed, possibly by whoever had taken Izuku. When Inko finally contacts her again, Mitsuki breaks down crying as she apologizes for what she said.
• Point of Divergence: Because Izuku was kidnapped in his childhood:
  • Inko ended up working with All Might and getting a job at his agency with a close familial tie. She later adopts Himiko and Eri after Izuku saves them.
  • All For One is killed permanently and Izuku is rescued. This also prevents Aoyama from being used as a spy, and he becomes friends with Izuku earlier, as well as not joining the Hero Course.
  • Izuku being used in Quirk experiments allows him to retain a residual copy of the All For One Quirk, which he uses to deprive the villain All For One of several useful Quirks when All Might's arrival distracts him. This in turn allows All Might to defeat All For One more easily than in canon, while taking a much less debilitating version of his canon injury. However, due to the large hoard that Izuku stole, and had implanted in him during the final experiment, Izuku refuses One For All whenever the offer is brought up.
  • Bakugou isn’t attacked by the Sludge Villain so he doesn’t have a reason to train as hard, scoring lower in the Entrance Exam as a result.
  • Izuku mentions Aizawa’s expulsion habit, causing everyone to be more serious and Mineta constantly focusing on outperforming people he thinks he can beat, in this case Komori Kinoko, who took Aoyama’s canon spot. This leads to Aizawa explaining his thought process and calling out Todoroki for only using his ice half, and Mineta for acting in an unheroic manner, transferring the latter to a different big-name school... without a Hero Course.
  • All For One stole Ragdoll's Quirk at some point during Izuku's captivity. Fortunately, Izuku took it back and returned it to Ragdoll, even keeping a copy with her blessing, as well as gaining honorary membership of the Wild Wild Pussycats.
  • All For One learned about Bakugou's nickname for Izuku and loves it, turning the name into a Trauma Button that Izuku will struggle to reclaim, even with Uraraka's attempt to redefine it for him.
  • All Might's relationship with Sir Nighteye seems to have lost any chance of being patched up, if Izuku, Himiko, and Aoyama deadpanning "We don't talk about Nighteye" is any indication.
• Police Are Useless: With the exception of Tsukauchi and Sansa, none of the police that Inko went to with Izuku's disappearance provided any help, with some thinking that it was a job for the heroes, and others believing that Inko killed Izuku and even some among them approving of the action, to Inko's disgust.
• Poor Communication Kills: Bakugou's parents, Mitsuki and Masaru, were worried about how Inko was getting worse regarding Izuku's disappearance, not to mention how she was risking attracting the attention of the culprit, but ended up driving her away when Mitsuki tried to convince her to stop. As Inko later explains when she reaches out to Mitsuki, the latter's Exact Words made it sound like she agreed with the people who said Izuku didn't matter.
• Power Incontinence: Some of Izuku's mutation Quirks are unable to be turned off or suppressed, such as Infrared, which he realizes is a problem when he sees Hagakure in her 'hero suit'.
  • Izuku's copy of All For One doesn't work on everyone, meaning he can't de-power every villain he encounters, nor can he give out the Quirks he has to just anyone. The latter was confirmed offscreen when at one point he tried to give a Quirk to Melissa, but failed.
• Power Misidentification: An intentional example. The cover story for Izuku’s Quirk collection is a versatile Transformation-type Quirk called "Malleable" that allows him to imitate the organs of other Transformation-type Quirks.
• Punch-Clock Villain: Of the ones holding Izuku prisoner, Kurogiri never tormented him, merely making sure he had food and clean clothing when he visited. As a result, every time Izuku's door opened, he hoped it would be Kurogiri.
• Put on a Bus: Mineta Minoru is transferred to a different top school after the Quirk Assessment Test... one without a Hero Course, which torpedoes Mineta's hope to become a Hero and score chicks.
• Refusal of the Call: Despite the hoard of Quirks the latter already has, All Might still thinks Izuku is a worthy candidate for the ninth user of One For All. Izuku however, continues to refuse, saying he has more than enough, even wishing to offload a few redundant copies.
• Reasonable Authority Figure:
  • Nezu demonstrates himself as this as he makes it explicitly clear to Bakugou that his behavior towards Izuku is unacceptable and will not be repeated if he knows what is good for him. He has also made it his goal that UA provides the best mental support possible, and is competing with All Might's agency on this.
  • Played with regarding Aizawa. On the one hand, Aizawa comes off as a much more supportive and effective Trickster Mentor than canon. He is also more respectful of his students' limits, calling out Todoroki for not using his fire at all, and Mineta for only putting in just enough effort to not get the lowestscore. Some of his former students also feel that his expelling system was a necessary wake-up call. On the other hand, other former students of his take harsh issue with how the 'simulated death' of being expelled still puts a black mark on their official record, which is a serious issue for those who are already part of discriminated minorities, such as heteromorphs like the student who brings this up.
• Running Gag: On a meta level, in every story griffinguy24 writes Bakugou goes down the Entrance Exam position: 2nd place in One for All and Eight for the Ninth, 3rd place in Changing Gears. In this story, he ends up in 6th place, per Point of Divergence above.
• Secret Test of Character: The Quirk Assessment Test has a third layer beyond simply "How well you do on the tests," and "How creatively you use your Quirk." Aizawa is also testing how the students operate under stress. He removes Mineta Minoru after noting the boy barely bothered beyond making sure to do better than Komori Kinoko, which Aizawa sees as Mineta treating his comrades as expendable, transferring him to another top school, albeit one without a Hero course.
• Shipper on Deck:
  • All Might absolutely ships Izuku and Himiko together and muses that, while she didn't take the Midoriya name when she was adopted, she's "likely to get it another way" referring to the possibility of Izuku marrying Himiko.
  • There is a betting pool on when All Might and Inko get married.
• Shout-Out:
  • After Aizawa deduced that Mineta Minoru was deliberately doing just well enough to score higher than Komori Kinoko, he had the midget transferred to Sorahokousha Academy, a big-name school that doesn't have a Hero Course. In keeping with MHA tradition of names homaging Star Wars, "sorahokōsha" means "sky walker" in Japanese.
  • Tomura has Meld with Shadows and Tracking, two Quirks that Izuku had in Haigha, where he got them from All For One during his captivity.
  • All For One's response to All Might showing up when he's trying to turn Izuku into a Nomu is "And then there's this asshole."
  • When Sir Nighteye gets brought up in a lunchtime conversation, Izuku, Himiko and Aoyama all deadpan in unison, "We don't talk about Nighteye."
• Side Bet: Kirishima assumes Bakugou and Iida will easily beat Komori and Kaminari. Tsuyu asks if he wants to put money on that. He agrees. Komori effortlessly takes out both Bakugou and Iida, putting them in the nurse’s office. Kirishima, to his credit, takes it in stride and pays up, saying a man pays his debts.
• Spotting the Thread: Ochako and Shouji both realize Toshinori is All Might at roughly the same time. Ochako because she realized Toshinori looks like a skinnier, less kept All Might. Shouji figured it out because they have the same distinctive heartbeat and breathing patterns.
• The Stations of the Canon: Despite kidnapping Izuku as a child, All For One still faces All Might right on schedule compared to canon, and All Might still takes a bad injury to his right side, but thanks to Izuku stealing a boatload of Quirks from All For One using a residual copy of the Quirk left over from a failed bodyjacking attempt, All Might's canon injury is significantly downplayed, though it still affects his Hero work and he still faces the pressure to pass on One For All.
  • Despite All For One being out of the picture, the U.S.J. battle still happens with minor differences, the only changes being due to Izuku's new relationship with the League Of Villains, as well as Shigaraki Tomura in particular: Izuku isn't warped away with Tsuyu, instead Tomura has him brought to the plaza, and the two battle it out, while Izuku tries to tell Tomura the truth about why All For One took in his protegé.
• Super-Empowering: Downplayed. If Izuku has a redundant copy of a stolen Quirk that he was given, he can give it back to their original owner, as he has done with Ragdoll, and has expressed interest in doing so with others, as is the case with Shirakumo Oboro, before learning of his "death" from Aizawa, Midnight, and Present Mic. Kurogiri being him is still as-yet not revealed.
• Trauma Button:
  • All For One’s behavior of giving demeaning compliments and mocking is this for Izuku. Iida accidentally triggers this when trying to compliment Izuku, but sounds insulting.
  • Because of the villains using it to mock and dehumanize him, Izuku reacts poorly to Bakugou calling him "Deku" and gives him a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown while raving that he is "nobody's puppet" before remembering himself. After explaining himself to Uraraka later, she attempts to redefine it for him similar to canon. While he says there's a lot of baggage with the name, the attempted redefinition does help and is a good mantra.
  • The mere sight of Shigaraki and Kurogiri utterly terrifies Izuku, and makes him fight without his usual composure.
• Troll: After the USJ fight, All Might (as Toshinori) and Nezu bring NDA documents for the students to sign, and Bakugou's so done with the day that he signs a paper without looking, to which Nezu responds that Bakugou just signed a contract that would make his official Hero name "Pretty Princess Dress-Me-Up" while his hero costume is replaced with a pink ballerina's leotard and tutu. Bakugou grabs the paper and realizes Nezu wasn't kidding, then destroys the contract. Thankfully, as no copies existed, Nezu notes that it's one way to void such a contract, and provides the actual NDAs while explaining the importance of reading such documents before signing.
• Villainous Breakdown: All For One had no idea why Izuku wasn't becoming a Nomu despite having so many Quirks loaded into him. Izuku doesn't know either, but All For One didn't care, raging at the boy in a display of his canon childishness.
• Wave-Motion Gun: One day, Izuku tried to use one of the Quirks he took from All For One, Impure Beam, and had to do it on the open ocean. The World Heroes Association mobilized because they thought he had detonated a nuke. At least he got Star And Stripe's autograph out of it.
• Your Approval Fills Me with Shame: Bakugou is disgusted to learn that a villain approved of how he treated "Deku" and even adopted his insulting nickname for Izuku, leading him to changing Izuku's nickname back to "Birdnest Hair" which he had given him before recognizing him.
