    Reindrix

#101: Reindrix / Tsurarajika (ツララジカ)

Characters in Palworld Reindrix To Lullu
A large blue-and white deer-like Pal that sports transparent cerulean antlers. These antlers may look beautiful and glow with the cold of absolute zero, but are extremely deadly — anyone who touches them with their bare hands will be instantly frozen over and smashed into pieces.

Their Partner Skill is Cool Body, which allows the player to use it as a mount. It also grants Heat Resistance to the player while in the party.
  • Blue Means Cold: A very cold Ice-elemental who's almost entirely blue.
  • Game Hunting Mechanic: They drop Reindrix Venison when killed, which can be cooked into a very satiating meal that restores 252 hunger.
  • Herbivores Are Friendly: Subverted. Unlike Eikthyrdeer, Reindrix are aggressive and will attack the player on sight if they aren't mounted. Played straight in 1.0 where they were made docile.
  • An Ice Person: An Ice-elemental Pal with powerful freezing abilities.
  • Literally Shattered Lives: Anyone touching its antlers will instantly freeze and shatter due to the extreme cold.
  • Power-Up Mount: Reindrix can be ridden, and will keep the player cool in hot areas. It also gives an inherent decrease to body temperature for being a Ice Pal, meaning Reindrix can be very useful for exploring hot areas.
  • Secret Art: Freezing Charge, where Reindrix charges at an enemy with antlers adorned in ice.
  • Underground Monkey: Even though they're a completely different species, Reindrix essentially serve as an Ice-elemental version of Eikthyrdeer that's found in frigid biomes. Both of them sport a charging attack as well as dropping their venison when killed.
  • Xenophobic Herbivore: They're reindeer that are hostile and will attack players on sight. Averted in the full release.

    Mossanda

#102: Mossanda / Sasazou (ササゾー)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mossanda33.png
Mossanda resembles a huge panda with big arms and green moss on its head, resembling a mask. Even though it's no carnivore, it's still quite dangerous to face with its monstrous strength, capable of tearing through 3000 layers of paper at once.

Their Partner Skill is Grenadier Panda, which allows the player to mount Mossanda and lets it use a grenade launcher that deals high area damage and stuns targets.
  • Acrofatic: Despite what its rotund appearance would suggest, Mossanda is actually incredibly light and flighty, not only being very susceptible to knockback but capable of floating through the air by flapping its arms. Oddly enough, it still takes fall damage in spite of this.
  • Bears Are Bad News: Just because Mossanda's a herbivore doesn't make it any less dangerous, as it packs quite a punch and is quite aggressive.
  • Green Thumb: A Grass-elemental Pal.
  • Grenade Launcher: Mossanda's Partner Skill, Grenadier Panda, allows it to wield one.
  • Herbivores Are Friendly: You wish. Mossanda is highly territorial and while it won't eat you, it will attack you on sight regardless.
  • Megaton Punch: Mossanda itself isn't the only thing susceptible to being knocked around in its presence, as the Secret Art of the species, Crushing Punch, involves them winding up a punch with impressive power and heavy knockback should anybody be too slow to dodge it; the thing can punch a hostile human fifty feet across the land with a square shot. Amusingly, it ends up stumbling forwards afterwards every time like it forgot just how hard it hits.
  • Planimal: A Grass-elemental panda with leaves and moss on its body.
  • Power-Up Mount: Its Partner Skill allows the player to ride on its back. While Mossanda's movement abilities are nothing too special, it makes up for it with a devastating Grenade Launcher that the player can aim.
  • Punched Across the Room: Most humans and Pals that get hit by their Secret Art Crushing Punch will be sent flying a good distance if they survive. If the victim doesn't survive, they're launched even further.
  • Punny Name: It's a panda covered in moss.
  • Secret Art: Crushing Punch, where Mossanda winds up its right arm before striking an enemy with a devastating punch.

#102b: Mossanda Lux / Raizou (ライゾー)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mossandalux33.png
The Electric element variation of Mossanda. It has the shocking capability to alter the electrical currents in its body to overload its own strength, potentially giving it the strongest sheer power output of all Pals.

Their Partner Skill is Grenadier Panda, which allows the player to mount Mossanda Lux and lets it use a grenade launcher that deals high area damage and stuns targets.

    Chillet

#103: Chillet / Okocho (オコチョ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chillet.png
Chillet resembles a member of the Mustelid family crossed with a Wyrm, a long-bodied wingless dragon. It can curl up its body and roll around at extremely high speeds. Because of this, people once domesticated Chillet to produce butter, tying bags of milk to it so that its spinning force would churn the milk into butter.

Their Partner Skill is Wriggling Weasel, which allows the player to mount Chillet. While mounted, the player's attack is boosted significantly and their attacks will deal Dragon-elemental damage.
  • And Call Him "George": Chillet, simply by existing, makes anyone around it including its rider feel very cold, which can be deadly if they are already in a cold place or if they don't have clothes on. On the other hand, riding a Chillet can be helpful if you're crossing lava plains.
  • Badass Adorable: It's a cuddly ferret-wyrm with an adorable personality as a partner, but all the same, it's an Ice-Dragon with impressive power for how early you can get it.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: It's normally perfectly nice and passive, but hurt it in any way, and you'll soon realize how terrible of an idea it is.
  • Blue Means Cold: A blue Ice-elemental.
  • Breakout Character: Chillet was not well represented in the advertising before the game came out—in fact, its single appearance in the early access trailer is less than a second of a rear view in the middle of a gunfight. However, Chillet became the number-one most liked Pal among polled players in the first player poll taken some months after the game launched, catapulting it into stardom as the definitive fan favorite. As a result, it not only got a subspecies variant in the Sakurajima update, but it also received prominently increased representation in a number of PalAnime videos, especially one dedicated to Chillet Ignis crushing on regular Chillet, and also received two skins in quick succession whereas most other Pals with skins only got one in the same time.
  • Cute Monster: Chillet are adorable weasel wyrms, complete with behaviors as cute as real-life ferrets.
  • Delightful Dragon: Chillet is a serpentine dragon mixed with a ferret, and it's both cuddly and friendly.
  • Disc-One Nuke: They're the first Dragon-elemental Pal you can capture, and they have highly impressive stats to accompany it. They're as a direct result a very solid pick for investing and fusing to the endgame with.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: When petted, they make an expression similar to the ahegao face.
  • Equipment Upgrade: There's a chance that one of the drops for defeating the field Alpha boss is the schematics for the Legendary Cloth Outfit.
  • Fragile Speedster: Chillet's stats are only impressive by early-game standards; later on, its stat spread of 90 HP and 80 in Attack and Defense are rather weak in combat, though it retains utility as a decently fast mount.
  • Frisky Ferret: They're a happy and bouncy creature, always curious and friendly and honestly quite harmless. They would much rather fun away from a fight than attack if they have to.
  • Gentle Giant: They are huge in their Alpha form, and even their normal form is several orders of magnitude larger than a normal ferret. Despite that, they are very passive creatures, and would much rather be left alone.
  • An Ice Person: It's an Ice-elemental dragon, and learns a variety of powerful ice-elemental attacks with it.
  • Man of Kryptonite: Chillet happens to be one of the few Pals that's tailor-made to help against Victor and Shadowbeak for a player relying on weapon damage. Riding a Chillet boosts the player's damage and makes the player's attacks Dragon-elemental, effective against Shadowbeak's Dark element. Chillet's Dragon element resists Shadowbeak's powerful Dark attacks, and it also isn't weak to this Shadowbeak's plethora of Ice attacks due to its own Ice element resisting them while also making it completely immune to freezing, allowing the mounted player to evade subsequent attacks should they get frozen. Finally, with an Elite Tweak, Chillet can move quickly enough to evade several of Shadowbeak's more powerful moves. Likewise, the same advantages also apply to Chillet against Raid Boss Bellanoir, who is a Dark-elemental with even more HP than Victor and Shadowbeak and also gains Ice-elemental attacks once she Turns Red.
  • Mix-and-Match Critter: It's a mammalian ferret tied with a draconic creature.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: It's a Dragon-elemental Pal that's a cross between a ferret and a wyrm.
  • Power Stereotype Flip: They are an Ice and Dragon-elemental, yet they don't really fit either. They're far too bouncy, playful, and gentle to be either the personality stereotypes associated with Ice elementals or associated with Dragon elementals.
  • Power-Up Mount: Can be ridden as a land-borne mount with decent speed that also boosts the player's Attack, while letting the player deal Dragon-element damage with their attacks. Notably, it's the only way in the game for players to gain Dragon-elemental attack damage, making it more useful as a mount than a battler in the late game.
  • Punny Name: It's a chilly ferret-like dragon.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: They are ridiculously adorable overall, even despite being very large.
  • Rolling Attack: It's capable of this, apparently. It can roll up into a ball and roll at very high speeds. This was actually exploited as domesticated Chillet were used for making butter.
  • Secret Art: Rocket Slam, where Chillet gathers a bit of strength and leaps forward.
  • Spell Blade: When Chillet is mounted, they will change the player's attacks to Dragon-elemental while also providing a significant boost in damage.
  • Warm-Up Boss: Because it's found close to the Plateau of Beginnings at a low level, the boss Chillet is very commonly fought and captured by players as their first boss fight of a playthrough before taking on Zoe Rayne.
  • White Sheep: They're among the only Dragon-elementals aside from Elphidran, Azurobe, Quivern and Shaolong who doesn't have a Hair-Trigger Temper.

#103b: Chillet Ignis / Momocho (モモチョ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chillet_ignis.png
Cherry Blossom Dancer
The Fire-elemental subspecies of Chillet found in the Sakurajima region. It's capable of spinning very quickly to the point where sparks fly, and it also produces sparks if it feels excited or if stroked too much.

Their Partner Skill is Sparkling Weasel, which allows the player to mount Chillet Ignis. While mounted, the player's attack is boosted significantly and their attacks will deal Fire-elemental damage.
  • Fire/Ice Duo: They can sometimes be found alongside the regular ice-elemental Chillet in Sakurajima.
  • Fire Is Red: A Fire-elemental Pal who's pink (technically a shade of red).
  • Gameplay and Story Integration: Just like the Palpedia states, petting Chillet Ignis will cause it to catch fire briefly.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: While Chillet Ignis has marginally better Attack than regular Chillet, it lacks Chillet's unique niche and typing. Blazamut Ryu and Jormuntide Ignis already exist as more powerful Fire/Dragon Pals, and its ability to change the player's attacks to Fire-elemental is a much more common effect than Chillet's Dragon-elemental damage - Pyrin and Ragnahawk are both faster and stronger mounts with the same effect, and the latter can also fly.
  • Playing with Fire: A Fire-elemental Pal.
  • Secret Art: Rocket Slam, shared with regular Chillet.
  • Spell Blade: When Chillet Ignis is mounted, they will change the player's attacks to Fire-elemental while also providing a significant boost in damage.
  • Underground Monkey: A Fire version of Chillet.

    Ragnahawk

#104: Ragnahawk / Ignix (ライバード)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ragnahawk74.png
Ragnahawk is an orange feathered hawk with black and yellow markings on its wings, wears a black mask with yellow markings and orange ponytail on the back of its head. Its beak and head have hardened over the years to adapt to its diet of rocks. There are some who speculate a possible relation between it and Beakon due to having similar traits, but there is ultimately no connection between both birds.

Their Partner Skill is Flame Wing, which allows the player to ride Ragnahawk as a flying mount. While mounted, the player's attack is boosted significantly and their attacks will deal Fire-elemental damage.
  • Eat Dirt, Cheap: Their primary diet is rocks, and after several years, their beaks and heads have hardened to adapt to this diet.
  • Feathered Fiend: They're fiery birds that are aggressive and will attack the player on sight.
  • Fire Is Red: A red Fire-elemental Pal.
  • Flight: Naturally, given its wings.
  • Lightning Bruiser: They're quite fast and powerful, and are deceptively resilient with base 120 defense; however, their rather poor stamina holds their capabilities in check.
  • Lightning/Fire Juxtaposition: Played With. Both Ragnahawk and its electrical counterpart Beakon are flying mounts, and while there are those who think they're related, there is ultimately no connection between the two.
  • Nerf: Update 0.2.0.6 made it no longer able to fit through dungeon hallway openings (this one was reverted by making all mounts capable of clipping through doorways), plus it was hit by the huge decrease in mounted Spell Blade damage boost that was applied to all such Pals.
  • Playing with Fire: A Fire-elemental Pal that conjures fire.
  • Power-Up Mount: They're notably the strongest flying mount that's still small enough to fit through dungeon hallway openings, allowing players to ride through them while mounted and giving them a niche over stronger mounts like Faleris. Additionally, they also boost the player's attacks while mounted, while Faleris does not. However, it does suffer from having a noticeably low Stamina Meter. This however was nerfed and it can no longer fit through dungeon hallway openings (at least until every mount was made able to clip through dungeon hallways).
  • Secret Art: Rush Beak, which has Ragnahawk striking three times with its beak, releasing flames on each stab.
  • Spell Blade: When Ragnahawk is mounted, they will change the player's attacks to Fire-elemental while also providing a significant boost in damage.
  • Utility Party Member: They have a Kindling score of 4 and a Transporting score of 5, making them good at the base for cooking or smelting, and otherwise focusing on transport.

    Moldron

#105: Moldron

Scorched Wanderer
A fiery reptilian Pal with lava flowing down its back. The lava flows normally on a healthy individual, but a poor lifestyle will result in it developing lava clogs with explosive results.

Their Partner Skill, Magma Overload, allows it to be ridden as a mount, and also passively increases its Attack for each Fire or Ground Pal in your party.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: A Ground-elemental.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Its Palpedia description notes that a poor lifestyle will cause Moldron to develop lava clogs in its system, cutting off its circulation and causing them to explode, in terms very reminiscent of describing a heart attack.
  • Fiery Salamander: They appear to be based on the mythical salamander, with a reptilian appearance and lava running through them.
  • Playing with Fire: A Fire-elemental.
  • Secret Art:
    • Magma Spit: Moldron spits a mass of magma from its mouth, creating magma pools that damage enemies on contact.
    • Magma Laser: Moldron emits a thermal beam from its mouth that scorches the ground, forming magma pools that damage enemies on contact.
  • Super Spit: Moldron's unique move Magma Spit spits a mass of magma from its mouth.

#105b: Moldron Cryst

Frigid Voyager
The Ice-elemental subspecies of Moldron. Moldron Cryst's back has a cold substance flowing along it which remains at a consistent temperature in healthy individuals. If its heartbeat quickens, the temperature of this substance suddenly changes and triggers vaporization or crystallization, resulting in the Moldron Cryst dying from shock.

Their Partner Skill is Ice Overload, which allows the player to mount Moldron Cryst, and increases the Ice damage the player and their Pals deal to enemy weak points.
  • Blue Means Cold: Its icy spikes are blue.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: A Ground-elemental.
  • An Ice Person: An Ice-elemental.
  • Secret Art:
    • Ice Spit: Moldron Cryst spits a chunk of ice from its mouth, creating frost pools that freeze and damage enemies on contact.
    • Ice Laser: Moldron Cryst fires a freezing beam from the mouth that coats the ground in ice, forming frost pools that freeze and damage enemies on contact.
  • Stat Sticks: Simply having a Moldron Cryst in the party will boost the damage of all Ice-elemental attacks that hit a weakness, making them great for support filler if you bring Ice attacks against a Dragon Pal.
  • Super Spit: Moldron Cryst's unique move Ice Spit spits a chunk of ice from its mouth.
  • Support Party Member: Their presence in the party boosts the damage of all Ice-elemental attacks that hit a weakness, giving them a unique niche in keeping them around even after they get overshadowed by stronger Ice-element Pals.
  • Underground Monkey: An Ice version of Moldron.

    Palumba

#106: Palumba / Cocoyamba (ココヤンバ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/palumba.png
No Dance, No Life
A Grass-element Pal that resembles a tall avian crossed with a palm tree. Palumba throws enemies off balance with its signature dance. In turf battles, the first to fall in sync with the other's rhythm loses. Whether for courtship, boredom, or combat, everything revolves around dance for this Pal! So what might a dance directed at a human signify?

Their Partner Skill is Samba Step, which allows Palumba to be mounted and also lets it run faster on grass.
  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: While being petted, Palumba embraces the player character and pets them on the head.
  • Dance Battler: Palumba likes to dance, even when fighting over territory.
  • Dance Enthusiast: Whether for courtship, boredom, or combat, everything revolves around dance for Palumba.
  • Green Thumb: A Grass-elemental Pal.
  • Planimal: It looks like a mix between palm tree and bird.
  • Secret Art: Dash Kick, where Palumba dashes to build up speed, then launches a devastating airborne kick at its target.
  • Situational Sword: Their Samba Step speed boost only triggers if they're running on grass.
  • Super-Speed: Palumba's Samba Step partner skill makes them even faster on grass.

    Digtoise

#107: Digtoise / Driltoise (ドリタス Doritasu)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/digtoise.png
Equal parts unstoppable force and immovable object, these Ground-elemental giant tortoises possess an extremely tough shell, seemingly impervious to almost everything except the drills sported on those very same shells. This dichotomy even inspired a tale known as Digtoise's Fable.

Their Partner Skill is Drill Crusher, which causes Digtoise to use a spinning attack that damages both enemies and ores while active, dealing increased damage to ores.
  • Armored, but Frail: Digtoise has a high base Defense of 120 and come with the Hard Skin passive skill to provide 10% more defense, but sport a rather low base Health of 80. Furthermore, hitting them in the shells deals reduced damage as compared to their head.
  • Anti-Structure: Digtoise's spinning attack and Drill Crusher deal huge damage to ores, destroying them extremely quickly. Should one be lucky enough to get a 4-star condensed Digtoise, it will be able to destroy ores in 1-2 Spin Attack cycles.
  • Attack Its Weak Point: Their heads take far more damage than almost anywhere else, especially their shells.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: A Ground-elemental Pal.
  • Eat Dirt, Cheap: Implied; wild Digtoises can occasionally be found mining ore of their own accord, and there's really not that many reasons for them to be doing so while not under a Tamer's command.
  • Earthy Tortoise: It's a tortoise that's Ground-elemental and can use its shell to easily mine rocks and ores.
  • Heavily Armored Mook: Wild Digtoise come with the Hard Skin passive skill, which gives 10% extra defense. Attacking their shells also deals far less damage than attacking their heads.
  • Making a Splash: Surprisingly, it learns Aqua Gun and Aqua Burst.
  • Meaningful Name: It's a tortoise whose shell is loaded with drills for digging.
  • Mooks: Annoyingly, these aggressive Pals can sometimes show up and attack you while you're fighting Paladius and Necromus together! You can't safely focus on them until you've dealt with the legendary centaurs first.
  • Secret Art: Shell Spin, a Ground-elemental Spin Attack that continuously damages enemies on contact.
  • Spectacular Spinning: They can spin at high speeds while tucking themselves into their shell, allowing the drills on the shell to do heavy damage to enemies and ore veins alike.
  • Studded Shell: Their shells are covered in spinning drills. They're functional, too—Digtoise can be instructed to use its Spin Attack next to a rock and it will get to work gouging chunks of material out of anything it's told to mine.
  • Super-Toughness: Wild Digtoise will always have the Hard Skin passive, increasing their Defense.
  • This Is a Drill: The drills on their shell serve both as devastating weapons in battle and very useful tools for mining.
  • Unstoppable Force Meets Immovable Object: Their shells are said to be the strongest shells, while the drills adorning them are said to be the only things capable of piercing them. This even inspired an in-universe fable.
  • Utility Party Member: While definitely no slouch in a fight, Digtoise's greatest advantage is being an extremely efficient ore miner, both as a base Pal and with its Partner Skill.
  • Video Game Delegation Penalty: Digtoise does much more damage to rocks when they're manually commanded to, compared to the damage they deal if they were assigned as a mining Pal at a base. Downplayed after they got a Balance Buff increasing the damage they deal to ore as a base miner; their Partner Skill is still more efficient, but their mining rate as a worker is vastly improved — a fully condensed Digtoise can destroy copper ore in five spin attack cycles when assigned to a base, but that same Digtoise, if manually commanded, will destroy it in one.

    Broncherry

#108: Broncherry / Loveladon (ラブラドン)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/broncherry86.png
Broncherry is a hybrid brontosaurus with flower petals circling around its neck. Its scent drastically changes before and after pairing. It exudes a pleasing aroma after finding a partner, which is called the "fragrance of first love".

Their Partner Skill is Love's First Blossom, which allows Broncherry to be mounted and increases the chance from picked up Pal Eggs of being an Alpha Pal.
  • Cherry Blossoms: They appear to be a cross between a sauropod and a Sakura cherry. They're also very love-themed, producing a pleasing aroma once they find a mate, which people call the "fragrance of first love".
  • Expy: Of Meganium; both are green sauropods with pink flowers around their necks and the ability to produce a sweet-smelling aroma.
  • Game Hunting Mechanic: They drop Broncherry Meat when killed, which can be eaten raw for restoring 180 hunger or cooked into a more fulfilling meal that restores a high 252 hunger.
  • Gentle Giant Sauropod: They are big friendly sauropod pals that generally won't attack you unprovoked.
  • Green Thumb: They are Grass-elemental, capable of using some powerful Grass attacks as well as planting seeds in your gardens.
  • Item Caddy: Broncherry's pre-rework Partner Skill increased a player's max carrying capacity by being in the team.
  • Planimal: Some of their body parts are made of plants. It's also noted that their meat contains nutrients gained from photosynthesis.
  • Power-Up Mount: They can be ridden, though they are the slowest mount in the game.
  • Punny Name: Not only is their name a combination of Brontosaurus and Cherry, but it's also a play on "mon cheri", the French term for "sweetheart" which fits their love theme.
  • Secret Art: Muscle Slam, a sideway tackle with their body that knocks the enemy back; smaller enemies are outright sent flying.

#108b: Broncherry Aqua / Spladon (スプラドン Supuradon)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/broncherryaqua86b.png
The Water element subspecies of Broncherry. Its scent drastically changes before and after pairing. It exudes a pleasing aroma before finding a partner, which is called the "perfume of purity".

Their Partner Skill is Purity's Full Bloom, which allows Broncherry Aqua to be mounted and increases the chance from picked up Pal Eggs of being an Alpha Pal.
  • Abandoned Mine: Unless you intend to breed a Broncherry with a Fuack, the Alpha boss of Broncherry Aqua can only be found hidden deep in the disused Shoal Mineshaft.
  • Gentle Giant Sauropod: This Pal is as peaceful as the Grass species. The monster refrains from aggression unless you provoke it.
  • Item Caddy: Broncherry Aqua's pre-rework Partner Skill increased a player's max carrying capacity by being in the team.
  • Making a Splash: This subspecies is Water/Grass, one of the only Pals of this elemental combo (the other being Ophydia), and can learn powerful Water skills at later levels. They also have a Watering level of 5, making them useful for base work.
  • Secret Art: Muscle Slam, shared with regular Broncherry, as well as Splash Tackle, which is similar but more powerful and Water-element.
  • Underground Monkey: A blue, Water-elemental variant of Broncherry. Bonus points for the Broncherry Aqua field boss actually being found underground.
  • Water Is Blue: A blue Water-elemental Pal.

    Dumud

#109: Dumud / Todododon (トドドドン)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dumud43.png
A greyish brown fish-like Pal that bears resemblance to both a mudskipper and blobfish, preferring to appear in wet, sandy habitats. Its reaction time becomes extremely slow when relaxed, to the point where it can survive bisection from head to tail until it realizes it should be dead the next morning.

Their Partner Skill is Soil Improver, which boosts the power of Ground Pals in your team for each Dumud in your party. It also allows Dumud to produce High Quality Pal Oil when placed at a Ranch.
  • Achievements in Ignorance: It can somehow survive vertical bisection for a while by being too slow to realize that it should be dead.
  • Delayed Reaction: Its reaction time drastically declines when it's relaxed. It can even be cut in half and won't realize that it should be dead until the next morning. In the official shorts, it gets kissed by Lovander in the middle of the day and only reacts to it at night.
  • Expy: Of Clodsire; both are dimwitted, brown mudfish creatures with Stone Wall capabilities who tend to have delayed reactions to pain.
  • Fun with Palindromes: By putting "dumb" and "mud" together, we get a palindromic name.
  • Game Hunting Mechanic: Dumud will drop Dumud meat when defeated or caught, which can be eaten raw or cooked into more substantial food.
  • Graceful in Their Element: On land, it flops at a sluggish pace. Put it in a body of water and it zips around with surprising speed.
  • Item Caddy: They will produce High Quality Pal Oil when placed at a Ranch.
  • Making a Splash: Early on, Dumud was the only non-Water Pal having the Watering work proficiency. The 0.5.0 update rectified this by giving Dumud the Water type.
  • Punny Name: Dumb + Mud. It's a rather dopey and oblivious creature that resembles a mudskipper.
  • Stat Sticks: Simply having a Dumud in the party will boost the attacking power of all Ground-elemental Pals, making them great for support filler if you only rely on a single powerful Ground Pal like Warsect or Anubis.
  • Stone Wall: Dumud can take quite a fair bit of punishment due to its 100 base HP and 95 base Defense, but its 70 base Attack puts it at the same damage output as early-game Pals. In addition, it moves by flopping around, making it one of the slowest Pals.
  • Support Party Member: Their presence in the party boosts the attack of all your Ground-elemental Pals in the party, giving it a unique niche in keeping them around even after they get overshadowed by stronger Ground-element Pals. They can also produce High Quality Pal Oil when placed at a Ranch.
  • Terrestrial Sea Life: They're fish-like creatures that live on land, although they're often seen near the water. This is justified as they're partially based on mudskippers.

#109b: Dumud Gild / Goldodon (ゴルドドン Gorudodon)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dumud_gild_4.png
Piece of Cake
Dumud Gild is a golden variant of Dumud that still retains its Ground and Water-element classification. Its body reflects light with astounding clarity, but somehow has even slower reflexes than a normal Dumud.

Their Partner Skill is Golden Harvest, which increases the amount of Gold Coins dropped by enemies. It also allows Dumud Gild to produce High Quality Pal Oil when placed at a Ranch, with a small chance to produce Gold Coins as well.
  • Delayed Reaction: Its Paldeck entry states that its reflexes are somehow even slower than normal Dumud. Normal Dumud's reaction time is already so slow it can be cut in half and not realize it should be dead until the next morning.
  • Game Hunting Mechanic: Dumud Gild will drop Dumud meat when defeated or caught, which can be eaten raw or cooked into more substantial food.
  • Gold Makes Everything Shiny: A shiny gold subspecies of Dumud that also helps you earn more gold with its Partner Skill. They also have the highest sell price of any Pal in the game.
  • Graceful in Their Element: On land, it flops at a sluggish pace. Put it in a body of water and it zips around with surprising speed.
  • Item Caddy: They will produce High Quality Pal Oil and Gold Coins when placed at a Ranch.
  • Making a Splash: As opposed to regular Dumud, they've been Water-element from the start.
  • Money Grinding: When put in a Ranch, they will dig up gold.
  • Money Multiplier: Dumud Gild's Partner Skill increases the amount of Gold Coins dropped by enemies.
  • Money Spider: They drop gold when defeated or caught, and can be put to work on a Ranch to fetch you even more gold. They can also be sold for incredible prices to a Pal merchant.
  • Stat Sticks: Dumud Gild's pre-rework Partner Skill worked like regular Dumud's, boosting the attacking power of all Ground-elemental Pals.
  • Stone Wall: Dumud Gild can take quite a fair bit of punishment due to its 105 base HP and 100 base Defense, but its 75 base Attack puts it at the same damage output as early-game Pals. In addition, it moves by flopping around, making it one of the slowest Pals.
  • Support Party Member: They can produce High Quality Pal Oil and Gold Coins when placed at a Ranch. Besides, Dumud Gild's pre-rework Partner Skill worked like regular Dumud's, boosting the attacking power of all Ground-elemental Pals.
  • Terrestrial Sea Life: They're fish-like creatures that live on land, although they're often seen near the water. This is justified as they're partially based on mudskippers.
  • Underground Monkey: A golden-colored version of Dumud, and one of two subspecies with the same typing as the regular version (the other being Bellanoir Libero).

    Braloha

#110: Braloha / Toconuts (トコナッツ Tokonattsu)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/braloha.png
Ancient Bloombringer
A Grass and Ground-element Pal resembling a tall, long-necked brontosaurus in build with several leaves around its head and body, and a large orange flower on its back. Its breath carries a miraculous, pollen-like substance that pollinates any plant it touches, but for plant-based Pals, being near it can be a bit... complicated.

Their Partner Skill is Balmy Weather, which shortens the time it takes Pals assigned to Breeding Farm to produce eggs.
  • Breath Weapon: Its special move, Deep Breath, is a Grass-element breath attack.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: A Ground-elemental Pal.
  • Green Thumb: A Grass-elemental Pal.
  • Planimal: It has a mix of plant and dinosaur traits.
  • Secret Art: Deep Breath, is a Grass-element Breath Weapon.
  • Utility Party Member: Braloha's Balmy Weather partner skill increases the rate at which eggs are produced in the breeding farm, which is invaluable during endgame where mass-breeding is necessary to get Pals with perfect passives. Furthermore, Braloha has proficiency 5 in both Planting and Gathering, which also makes Braloha a good option for working at crops.
  • You Do NOT Want to Know: Its Paldeck entry mentions that its breath carries a pollen-like substance that pollinates any plant it touches. It then mentions that for plant-based Pals, the implications are... complicated, to say the least.

    Kitsun

#111: Kitsun / Shiranui (シラヌイ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kitsun61.png
Despite their choice of habitat and their white and blue fur, this canine Pal is all Fire. While they can be intimidating on the surface and were once considered an ill omen, they're actually quite timid and are known to flee into caves when approached.

Their Partner Skill is Wolf of the Sun, which allows the player to use it as a mount. While in the party, the player and their Pals also take reduced Ice damage and cannot be frozen.
  • Color-Coded Elements: Averted; despite being icy blue and white and living in cold places, they're actually Fire-elemental.
  • Cornered Rattlesnake: Kitsun are timid and anxious creatures by nature. They will try to flee into caves from you. If you keep chasing it, the fox Pal will defend itself if harassed into a corner.
  • Cowardly Lion: They're good at looking threatening, but are quite easy to spook. They will also leave the player alone if encountered awake. That being said, they're definitely not weak, so wake one up at your own risk.
  • Expy: Of Amaterasu, sharing the same canine design and similar patterns. Their tendency to flee into caves according to the Palpedia also references Amaterasu's story in Japanese Mythology, and their internal name in the game is "AmaterasuWolf". Its Japanese name, Shiranui, plays into this by being the nickname of Amaterasu's past incarnation from the game.
  • Lightning Bruiser: With base stats of 100 in both HP and Defense, a powerful 115 attack, and good speed, Kitsun is surprisingly fast, durable, and powerful.
  • Nocturnal Mooks: Oddly enough, despite mainly spawning at night, they aren't actually nocturnal and thus will always be found sleeping. They can be found in the day in Wildlife Sanctuary 2, though.
  • Playing with Fire: A Fire-elemental Pal.
  • Power-Up Mount: Can be used as a mount, and will shield the player from Ice attacks while in the party.
  • Punny Name: It's a one-tailed kitsune whose color pattern and neck flame bring to mind a blue sun.
  • Secret Art: Daring Flames, where Kitsun charges forward with great speed while enveloped in intense blue flames.
  • Technicolor Fire: They have a ruff of blue fire around their necks.

#111b: Kitsun Noct / Kagenui (カゲヌイ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kitsun_noct_pic.png
Guardian of the Dark Flame
Kitsun Noct is the Dark element sub-species of Kitsun, with black fur and purple markings and an electric purple ring of fire wreathed around the neck while retaining the chrome-gold plates and bands placed behind its jaws/cheeks and the lower legs of the original Kitsun. Despite its appearance, Kitsun Noct is extremely sensitive and will flee into a cave when scared and has become quite gloomy since being shut in for too long.

Their Partner Skill is Gloomhowl, which allows the player to mount Kitsun Noct. While in the party, the player and their Pals also take reduced Dark damage and cannot be blinded.
  • Colony Drop: Strangely, it learns Dragon Meteor at level 70.
  • Hikikomori: They're extremely sensitive to the presence of others, which causes them to flee into caves. Their Paldeck entry even mentions that they "become quite gloomy from being a shut-in for too long".
  • Power-Up Mount: Can be used as a mount, and will shield the player from Dark attacks while in the party.
  • Purple Is the New Black: A Dark-elemental with purple accents.
  • Secret Art: Daring Shadowstorm where Kitsun Noct charges forward at enemies with great speed while enveloped in intense purple flames.
  • Spell Blade: Kitsun Noct's pre-rework Partner Skill changed the player's attacks to Dark-elemental while also providing a significant boost in damage.
  • Underground Monkey: A Dark version of Kitsun.

    Blazehowl

#112: Blazehowl / Gokuen'o (ゴクエンオ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blazehowl84.png
A lion-like Fire elemental Pal. Blazehowl prefers raw meat, but always ends up consuming overly cooked meat, as they're unaware that the blazing claws they hunt with always burn their prey to a crisp.

Their Partner Skill is Hellflame Lion, which allows the player to mount Blazehowl and makes Grass-elemental Pals have a chance of increased drops when defeated/caught while Blazehowl is the active Pal.
  • Beast of the Apocalypse: Its appearance, a lion with flaming manes, black fur covered in red stripes, a pair of black horns on its head featuring a set of flaming wings, all contribute to this.
  • Does Not Know His Own Strength: The monster has no idea its own fiery claws are ruining the taste of its meals.
  • Fiery Lion: It's a lion-like Pal with a mane of fur that can produce scorching flames from its claws.
  • Fire Is Red: A Fire-elemental with red stripes.
  • Glass Cannon: Blazehowl has decent Attack and learns some powerful Fire skills to bring the pain, but its paltry 80 base Defense and enormous hitbox mean that it folds rather quickly when opponents start fighting back.
  • Playing with Fire: A Fire-elemental Pal.
  • Power-Up Mount: Blazehowl's Partner skill means all Grass-elemental Pals give the player more item drops when defeated or caught.
  • Random Drop Booster: Their Hellflame Lion partner skill makes Grass-elemental Pals have a chance of increased drops when defeated/caught as long as Blazehowl is active.
  • Secret Art: Volcanic Fang, where Blazehowl pounces mercilessly on the enemy and causes an explosion of fire at the point of impact.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: It's possible for the player to feed them raw meat, finally giving them the raw meat they always loved but could not normally obtain.

#112b: Blazehowl Noct / Shin'en'o (シンエンオ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blazehowlnoct84b.png
The Dark-element variation of Blazehowl. Blazehowl Noct prefers raw and fresh meat, but always ends up consuming tainted and cursed meat, as they're unaware that the dark claws they hunt with always curse the meat of their prey.

Their Partner Skill is Darkflame Lion, which allows the player to mount Blazehowl Noct and makes Neutral-elemental Pals have a chance of increased drops when defeated/caught while Blazehowl Noct is the active Pal.
  • Curse: It's got it even worse than its Fire-elemental main species in overcooking its meals, where Blazehowl Noct's kills are tainted by its own dark energies it can't control.
  • Nocturnal Mooks: They only spawn at night in Mount Obsidian. Around Feybreak, however, they can spawn at day (as it happens with many nocturnal Pals).
  • Power-Up Mount: Blazehowl Noct's Partner skill means all Neutral-elemental Pals give the player more item drops when defeated or caught.
  • Random Drop Booster: Their Darkflame Lion partner skill makes Neutral-elemental Pals have a chance of increased drops when defeated/caught as long as Blazehowl Noct is active.
  • Secret Art: Volcanic Fang, which it shares with regular Blazehowl.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: It's possible for the player to feed them raw meat, finally giving them the raw, untainted meat they always loved but could not normally obtain.
  • Underground Monkey: A Dark version of Blazehowl.

    Warsect

#113: Warsect / Gracles (グラクレス Gurakuresu)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/warsect92.png
This Pal has the appearance of a giant, armored elephant beetle. The ultra-hard armor surrounding its body is extremely strong and heat resistant. Even a napalm blast would hardly leave a scratch.

Their Partner Skill is Cast-Iron Shell, which grants the player a damage-absorbing barrier if they land enough melee hits in quick succession.
  • Equipment Upgrade: There's a small chance that defeating the field Alpha boss will grant you schematics for the Legendary Laser Gatling.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Despite their Palpedia entry claiming that their armor is heat-resistant, they're a Grass-elemental Pal which is Weak to Fire.
  • Go for the Eye: Due to Warsect being armored all over, its only critical hit spots are the eyes.
  • Japanese Beetle Brothers: Warsect combines both beetles into a single design, as its two horizontal horns evoke the stag beetle while the vertical one resembles the rhinoceros beetle.
  • Men Are Tough: Warsect has an overwhelmingly high 85% chance to be male, and they're depicted as very Tough Beetles with a skill that even increases the player's defense.
  • Secret Art: Giga Horn. Skewers enemies with its four sturdy horns.
  • Stone Wall: While its Attack is definitely not low, Warsect's Defense and HP are considerably better, especially when taking into account its Hard Skin passive. Its Partner Skill also improves the player's resilience, making Warsect useful when tanking damage is more of a concern than dishing it out.
  • Super-Toughness: Wild Warsect will always have the Hard Skin passive, increasing their Defense.
  • Sweet Tooth: A possible drop if downed is honey, meaning it cuts down trees to collect it.
  • Tough Beetles: Their Defense and health are quite formidable, the player gets a barrier for landing multiple melee hits while Warsect is in the party, and wild Warsect always have the Hard Skin passive skill to make them even tougher.

#113b: Warsect Terra / Goldcles (ゴルクレス Gorukuresu)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/warsect_terra.png
The pure Ground element subspecies of Warsect, sporting black markings, and a shiny gold carapace. The ultra-hard armor surrounding its body is so incredibly durable and heat resistant that it won't flinch even if a Mammorest steps on it.

Their Partner Skill is Fullmetal Shell, which grants the player a damage-absorbing barrier if they land enough melee hits in quick succession.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: A pure Ground-elemental.
  • Men Are Tough: Warsect Terra has an overwhelmingly high 85% chance to be male, and they're depicted as very Tough Beetles with a skill that even increases the player's defense.
  • Secret Art: Like its Ground and Grass version, Warsect Terra retains its exclusive skill, Giga Horn, which allows it to skewer its enemies with its four horns.
  • Stone Wall: While its Attack is definitely not low, Warsect's Defense and HP are considerably better, especially when taking into account its Hard Skin passive. Its Partner Skill also improves the player's resilience, making Warsect useful when tanking damage is more of a concern than dishing it out.
  • Super-Toughness: Wild Warsect Terra will always have the Hard Skin passive, increasing their Defense.
  • Tough Beetles: Their Defense and health are quite formidable, the player gets increased defense just for having it out, and wild Warsect Terra always have the Hard Skin passive skill to make them even tougher.
  • Underground Monkey: A pure Ground version of Warsect.

    Frostplume

#114: Frostplume / Kujanna (クジャンナ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/frostplume.png
Snowlaced Feather Mantle
An Ice-element Pal resembling a beautiful white and light blue peacock. Frostplume has a sense of time so precise that it awakens at the same hour every morning.

Their Partner Skill is Peacock Pounce, which improves the player's reload speed.
  • Blue Means Cold: A partly blue Ice-elemental Pal.
  • Can't Catch Up: Frostplume is found at Sunreach, very late in the game, while other Ice Pals like Icelyn, who has a much more useful Partner Skill and better work proficiencies, can be acquired much earlier.
  • Clock King: Frostplome has a very precise sense of time, even up to the hour of waking up.
  • An Ice Person: An Ice-elemental Pal.
  • "Just So" Story: Palpagos Island lore claims the day is split into 24 segments because Frostplume's fully spread feathers display a pattern with 24 distinct sections.
  • Support Party Member: Frostplume's Partner Skill increases the player's reload speeds.

    Majex

#115: Majex

Flickering Shadow
Their Partner Skill is Phantasmal Arcana: when the player attacks enemies affected with Burn, Majex creates flames around the enemy that deal extra area damage.
  • Dynamic Akimbo: Subverted; they seem to be doing this, but according to the Palpedia, they're actually just struggling to keep their balance.
  • Playing with Fire: A Fire-elemental Pal.
  • Situational Damage Attack: When the player attacks enemies affected with Burn, Majex's Partner Skill creates flames around the enemy that deal extra area damage.

    Sibelyx

#116: Sibelyx / Silkyna (シルキーヌ Shirukiina)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sibelyx079.png
An Ice element moth Pal, that resembles a fancy lady with a huge sunhat. Sibelyx prefer rainy days and love basking in rain showers until the weather clears. Their "sunhats" also act as makeshift umbrellas for Foxparks to take shelter from the rain.

Their Partner Skill is Silk Shroud, which lets it use Blizzard Spike on a targeted enemy when activated and passively increases the power of its Blizzard Spike. It also allows them to produce High Quality Cloth while assigned to a ranch.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: Sibelyx are moths that are taller than the player character.
  • Blue Means Cold: An Ice-elemental Pal with a blue color scheme.
  • Clothing Appendage: That dress and sunhat appear to be part of its body.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Their Palpedia entry mentions that they let Foxparks take shelter under their hat from the rain… but the area they're found in is too cold for rain, and Foxparks do not appear at all in said area.
  • Humanoid Female Animal: Sibelyx has a feminine design resembling a stylish Winter Royal Lady and sports the Boss Subtitles of "Pallid Lady" (though they can be male), and are much more anthropomorphic than the other moth Pal Cinnamoth, which don't have a gender-specific design.
  • Ice Magic Is Water: They're one of the few Ice-element Pals (that aren't part-Water) that can learn a Water move, in this case Aqua Burst at level 40.
  • An Ice Person: An Ice-elemental.
  • Item Caddy: When placed in a Ranch, they will produce High Quality Cloth, eliminating the need to manually craft it.
  • Meaningful Name: Their name is a portmanteau of Siberia and Bombyx, a genus of silk-producing moth. Fittingly, they're icy moths that live in cold climates and produce silk.
  • Moth Menace: The Alpha Sibelyx is hostile and will attack the player on sight. Subverted by normal Sibelyx, which will try to run away from the player unless attacked.
  • Nice Girl: On rainy days, they will let Foxparks take shelter under their huge hat. With the exception of the Alpha, most Sibelyx will often leave the player alone or even run from them unless attacked first.
  • Odd Friendship: They're icy moths that are weak to fire, but allow the Fire-elemental Foxparks to take shelter under them when it rains.
  • Pretty Butterflies: They're actually moths and not butterflies, but they still resemble pretty and stylish ladies with Stylish Sunhats.
  • Stylish Sunhats: "Wears" a large sunhat that's implied to protect them from the sun as they prefer rainy days. Foxparks use Sibelyx's hat to take shelter underneath on rainy days. You can even get their sunhat (with moth antennae) as a cosmetic via the Medal Merchant.
  • Tertiary Sexual Characteristics: Sibelyx have long eyelashes that give them a very feminine appearance. Despite this, they're equally likely to be male or female.
  • Winter Royal Lady: They're icy moths that resemble rich ladies with Stylish Sunhats, with their Boss Subtitles even being "Pallid Lady". However, they're equally likely to be male or female.

#116b: Sibelyx Primo

Gilded Lady
The Neutral-elemental subspecies of Sibelyx. Their Partner Skill is Gilded Shroud, which boosts the Defense of Neutral Pals in your party. It also allows them to drop High Quality Cloth when assigned to a ranch.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: Sibelyx are moths that are taller than the player character.
  • Item Caddy: When placed in a Ranch, they will produce High Quality Cloth, eliminating the need to manually craft it.
  • Nice Girl: It frequently becomes a gathering spot for smaller Pals.
  • Pretty Butterflies: They're actually moths and not butterflies, but they still resemble pretty and stylish ladies with Stylish Sunhats.
  • Stat Sticks: Simply having a Sibelyx Primo in the party will boost the Defense power of all Neutral-Elemental Pals, making them great for support filler if you only rely on a single powerful Neutral Pal.
  • Support Party Member: Their presence in the party boosts the defense of all your Neutral-elemental Pals in the party, giving them a unique niche in keeping them around even after they get overshadowed by stronger Neutral-element Pals.
  • Tertiary Sexual Characteristics: Sibelyx have long eyelashes that give them a very feminine appearance. Despite this, they're equally likely to be male or female.
  • Underground Monkey: A Neutral version of Sibelyx.

    Maraith

#117: Maraith / Soulraith (ソルレイス Soulreizu)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/maraith66.png
A ghostly Dark element Pal. Maraith are attracted to the peculiar scent living things give off when they are near death. It's often a very bad omen if a Mariath has taken a liking to you, as it means your demise is near.

Their Partner Skill is Messenger of Death, which allows the player to mount Maraith. While Maraith is in the party, all Party Pals' Active Skill cooldowns are reduced by 30% whenever an enemy is defeated.
  • Cats Are Mean: Maraith are lion-like Pals that react with hostility on sight, and according to the Palpedia, they only take a liking to people that are about to die. If you're approached by one of these things, you're either already on the verge of death or you're about to be.
  • Chain Lethality Enabler: Their reworked Partner Skill reduces the cooldowns of all your party Pals' Active Skills whenever an enemy is defeated, allowing your Pals to use more powerful skills to defeat more enemies even faster.
  • Cooldown Manipulation: Their partner skill allows them to reduce cooldowns of all your party Pals' Active Skills whenever an enemy is defeated.
  • Ghostly Animals: It's a creepy-looking monster, bearing a black lion-like body with a massive flared mane and purple pointed feet.
  • No Mouth: They lack visible mouths.
  • Portent of Doom: If one of them starts following you in the wild and is friendly, it's a very bad omen. You are at death's door.
  • Secret Art: Spirit Dash, a charge attack that also releases ghostly flames at nearby enemies.
  • Spell Blade: Before the rework, when Maraith is mounted, they would change the player's attacks to Dark-elemental while also providing a significant boost in damage.
  • White Mask of Doom: Its face appears as an expressionless white mask with eye holes and no other features, adding to its intimidating figure.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: One of the possible drops for defeating it is the soul of a deceased Pal.

    Shroomer

#118: Shroomer / Kinoppo (キノッポ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shroomer.png
Creeping Mushroom
A Grass-elemental Pal resembling a mushroom dinosaur. Inhaling their spores can put one into a Mushroom Samba. Not even Shroomer is immune to its own spores; a motionless Shroomer is not mimicking a mushroom, but is high off its own spores.

Their Partner Skill is Rampant Spores, which allows Shroomer to be mounted and allows them to drop Mushroom or Cavern Mushroom while assigned to the ranch.
  • Fungi Are Plants: Mushroom dinosaurs that are considered Grass-elemental, even though mushrooms aren't plants.
  • Green Thumb: A Grass-elemental Pal.
  • Item Caddy: When placed in a Ranch, they will produce Mushrooms or Cavern Mushrooms.
  • Mushroom Man: Mushroom dinosaur in this case. Shroomer appears to be a dinosaur with a spotted mushroom cap atop its head, which produces spores.
  • Mushroom Samba: Inhaling large amounts of Shroomer's spores can cause one to be put into a trance. Interestingly enough, Shroomer lacks the Required Secondary Powers to be immune to its own spores, causing a self-inflicted version of this.
  • Required Secondary Powers: Averted. Shroomer are not immune to their own Mushroom Samba-causing spore clouds and as a result get high off them.

#118b: Shroomer Noct / Benoppo (ベノッポ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shroomer_noct.png
Dangerous Mushroom
A Grass- and Dark-Elemental Pal resembling a mushroom dinosaur. They let out so many spores to the point where it can block out sunlight. Not even Shroomer Noct is immune to its effects; a motionless Shroomer Noct is not mimicking a mushroom, but is blinded by its own spore clouds.

Their Partner Skill is Roiling Spores, which allows Shroomer Noct to be mounted and also slows the rate of decrease of your base Pals' Sanity Meters.
  • Dark Is Evil: Unlike Shroomer, Shroomer Noct are aggressive and will attack you on sight.
  • Fungi Are Plants: Mushroom dinosaurs that are considered part Grass-elemental, even though mushrooms aren't plants.
  • Green Thumb: A Grass-elemental Pal.
  • Mushroom Man: Mushroom dinosaur in this case. Shroomer Noct appears to be a dinosaur with a spotted mushroom cap atop its head, which produces spores.
  • Mushroom Samba: Their partner skill Roiling Spores implies that it causes this at your base, by calming down your pals and making their Sanity Meter decrease slower.
  • Required Secondary Powers: Averted. Shroomer Noct are not immune to their own darkness-causing spore clouds and as a result can get blinded by them.
  • Support Party Member: They provide emotional support at a base by making your base Pals' Sanity Meters drop at a slower rate. This effect stacks additively too, meaning that having 7 fully condensed Shroomer Nocts (-15% each) will reduce sanity depletion at a base to nearly nothing.
  • Underground Monkey: A Dark version of Shroomer.

    Icelyn

#119: Icelyn / Chillwitch (チルウィッチ Chirū~itchi)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/icelyn.png
Icy Smile
Icelyn is a humanoid Ice-element Pal resembling a witch. It has a body that melts in heat but paradoxically enjoys sunbathing and soaking in hot springs. If it's going to melt anyway, it hopes to do so in a steaming outdoor bath beneath a clear blue sky.

Their Partner Skill is Witch's Icy Veil, which can be activated to give the player a significant Attack boost and make their attacks inflict Ice damage.
  • Blue Means Cold: A blue Ice-elemental Pal.
  • Easy Level Trick: Icelyn is a mid-game Pal that has a high attack stat and scales well as a carry into the end game, thanks to its Ice element swap. Icelyn works great against Palworld's many Dragon bosses, and Freeze is a good status effect against the rest.
  • A Good Way to Die: It loves sunbathing and hot springs, knowing full well the heat will melt it away. Yet, it doesn't seem to be bothered by it. If it's going to melt away, it's going to do it in a steaming outdoor bath under a clear blue sky.
  • An Ice Person: An Ice-elemental Pal.
  • Spell Blade: When Icelyn is the active party member, they can provide an activated buff that increases the player's Attack and lets them deal Ice damage.
  • Utility Party Member: Icelyn offers Cooling Lv 5, Handiwork Lv 5, and Medicine Production Lv 4, great work stats.

    Gildra

#120: Gildra

Golden Blade of Duat
Their Partner Skill is Resurrection, which allows Gildra to resurrect on incapacitation, but at the cost of all its remaining Hunger.
  • Auto-Revive: Its Partner Skill allows it to resurrect on incapacitation, but at the cost of all its remaining Hunger.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: A Ground-elemental.
  • Mummy: The main inspiration behind this Pal, being covered by golden, bandage-like organs, and having a undead-like partner skill.
  • Mummy Wrap: Gildra can do this using its special move, Mummy Rush.
  • Secret Art: Mummy Wrap, where Gildra extends bandages from its hands to deliver a series of attacks.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Apparently, this desert-dwelling Pal is prone to having its bandages dry out and become brittle.

    Jormuntide

#121: Jormuntide / Levidra (レヴィドラ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jormuntide101.png
An extremely large dragon, with a snake-like body. Legends says that Jormuntide was once a wise man, who after being wrongly convicted and cast into a whirlpool, returned as this Pal to destroy those who wronged him.

Their Partner Skill is Stormbringer Sea Dragon, which allows the player to mount Jormuntide and allows them to travel on water without losing stamina. It also increases the damage dealt to Soaked enemies by the player and their Pals while Jormuntide is in the party.
  • Awesome, but Impractical:
    • Jormuntide has the second-highest proficiency in Watering at 7, allowing it to water plants or perform grinder/mill operations at record speed. However, its massive, long body combined with the game's Artificial Stupidity when it comes to pathfinding means that the player needs a specially crafted open-area base; otherwise it gets stuck in tight spaces or on top of structures and becomes unable to perform its job. Faleris Aqua, who has the almost-as-good Watering 6, is considered to be a straight upgrade over Jormuntide due to its smaller size and flight making it far less liable to get stuck, along with having extra benefits like much faster movement and Transporting 3.
    • Its size can also be a liability in combat, as it becomes harder for Jormuntide to position itself in forested or otherwise cramped areas and makes it a very big target for skills like the various Tornado Moves and Lightning Streak, which can hit it multiple times for massive damage, forcing the player to micromanage it constantly.
  • Disk One Nuke: Can be acquired from very rare Huge Dragon eggs found in the wild as early as the high teens, and share those same Huge Eggs with Relaxaurus Lux, but is also one of the most powerful Pals in the game, period, and would otherwise need to be caught from the level 55 Alpha boss or bred using late-game Pals. Downplayed due to the sheer rarity of happening upon one so early in the game, though.
  • The Great Serpent: It's based on the World Serpent Jormungandr, and it doesn't disappoint in that inspiration, as it is absolutely massive, being taller than a two-story building when just balancing atop its belly on land.
  • Jagged Mouth: The edge of its mouth is jagged at some points to create the shape of pointed teeth.
  • "Just So" Story: According to legend, Jormuntide was once a sage who was wrongly convicted and thrown into a whirlpool, and returned as a sea serpent to enact justice on his convictors.
  • Kraken and Leviathan: Its Japanese name is essentially "Leviathan Dragon", and it fits the name well by being an utterly enormous Sea Serpent known by the title "Emperor of the Sea".
  • Mighty Glacier: Its Attack and Health are both quite impressive at 120 and 130 respectively, and its Defense is lower but still quite good at 100. However, it is a bit on the slow side, and its massive size does no favors for its maneuverability.
  • Power-Up Mount: Jormuntide is usable as a mount with the appropriate key item. Being a sea serpent, it can cross water without losing stamina, allowing it to be used for aquatic transport.
  • Punny Name: It's a version of the Nordic World Serpent Jormungandr with strong power over tides.
  • Secret Art: Slither Slam, where Jormuntide charges toward the enemy, twisting its water-covered body as it advances.
  • Shock and Awe: Surprisingly, one of its level-up moves is Tri-Lightning.
  • Status Effect-Powered Ability: While Jormuntide is in the party, the player and their Pals deal extra damage to enemies that are Soaked by water.
  • Super Swimming Skills: Befitting something known as "Emperor of the Sea", it can move through water effortlessly without tiring, and using it as a mount prevents stamina loss while swimming.
  • Unique Enemy: The only Jormuntide that can be encountered in the wild is the Alpha boss.
  • Was Once a Man: There exists a legend that Jormuntide used to be a wise man who, after being wrongfully convicted of a crime and cast into a whirlpool, came back as a watery monster to seek revenge on those who wronged him.

#121b: Jormuntide Ignis / Agnidra (アグニドラ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jormuntideignis101b.png
The Fire-element variant of Jormuntide. Legend says that Jormuntide Ignis was once a warrior who, after being wrongly convicted and cast into a volcano, returned as this Pal to destroy those who wronged him.

Their Partner Skill is Stormbringer Lava Dragon, which allows the player to mount Jormuntide Ignis, and grants the player immunity to lava damage and increases damage dealt to burned enemies by the player and their active Pal while Jormuntide Ignis is in the party.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: Like with its regular counterpart, Jormuntide Ignis has the second-highest proficiency in a stat, this time being Kindling at 7, allowing it to smelt or cook at record speed. However, it shares the same large body as its regular counterpart, doing it no favors in bases that are tightly-spaced or have objects it can get stuck on top of.
  • Call-Back: When Palworld was initially released in Early Access, Jormuntide Ignis didn't have a proper breeding combo. A few updates later gave it the breeding combo of Jormuntide + Blazehowl — which was a combination shown in a very early trailer for the game.
  • Fire Is Red: A red Fire-elemental Pal.
  • Immune to Fire: Downplayed. While Jormuntide Ignis is in the party, the player becomes immune to lava damage, but not fire attacks.
  • "Just So" Story: According to legend, Jormuntide Ignis was once a warrior who was wrongly convicted and thrown into a volcano, and returned as a lava serpent to enact justice on his convicters.
  • Non-Indicative Name: Being terrestrial and Fire-elemental means that Jormuntide Ignis has little to do with the actual tides. Averted by its Japanese name, which instead references the Hindu fire deity Agni.
  • Playing with Fire: A Fire-elemental Pal.
  • Power-Up Mount: Jormuntide Ignis can be ridden as a mount like its Water counterpart. Because it's a Fire-element terrestrial Pal, Jormuntide Ignis cannot cross water freely, but does instead allow them to freely cross lava.
  • Secret Art: Magma Serpent, where Jormuntide Ignis charges toward the enemy, twisting its fire-covered body as it advances.
  • Status Effect-Powered Ability: While Jormuntide Ignis is in the party, the player and their Pals deal extra damage to Burned enemies.
  • Underground Monkey: A Fire version of Jormuntide.
  • Was Once a Man: Similarly to regular Jormuntide, there is a legend that Jormuntide Ignis was once a warrior who was wrongly convicted of a crime and cast into a volcano, returning as a fiery monster to seek revenge on those who wronged him.

    Suzaku

#122: Suzaku (スザク)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/suzaku102.png
A Pal that resembles a vermilion bird with yellow markings. Once believed to usher in dry seasons and cause droughts if their numbers were too high, people would cull their numbers in the hopes of having a better harvest.

Their Partner Skill is Wings of Flame, which allows the player to ride Suzaku as a flying mount and increases its movement speed for each other Fire Pal in your party.
  • Airborne Mook: They're flight-capable Pals that are also aggressive and will attack you on sight.
  • Equipment Upgrade: The Legendary Pump-action Shotgun schematics is a Rare Random Drop from the field Alpha boss.
  • Feathered Fiend: They're fierce-looking birds that are hostile and will attack on sight, and they're also of a higher level than most of the other Pals in their habitat.
  • Fire Is Red: A red Fire-elemental Pal.
  • Flight: It's capable of flying.
  • The Four Gods: It's named after the Fire-elemental Vermillion Bird of the four gods and appropriately is a red bird with the power of fire.
  • Irony: Out of The Four Gods, Suzaku represents the cardinal direction of the South. However, in Palworld, Suzaku's natural habitat is one of the northernmost locations.
  • Mighty Glacier: Suzaku has powerful stats all around, all above 100 with HP being its best, though it's one of the slower flying Pals around if you don't have any other Fire Pals in your team.
  • Playing with Fire: A Fire-elemental Pal with fiery abilities.
  • Portent of Doom: They were once believed to usher in the dry season and cause droughts if there were too many of them, causing people to cull their numbers when there was a drought the previous year.
  • Power-Up Mount: Suzaku can be used as a flying mount that gains movement speed for each Fire Pal in your party, making it a good transport option for Tamers that use Fire-element teams.

#122b: Suzaku Aqua / Shiva (シヴァ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/suzakuaqua102b.png
The Water-element variation of Suzaku. Once believed to usher in rainy seasons and cause floods if their numbers were too high, people would cull their numbers in the hopes of having a better harvest.

Their Partner Skill is Wings of Water, which allows the player to ride Suzaku Aqua as a flying mount and increases its movement speed for each other Water Pal in your party.
  • Ice Magic Is Water: Despite being a pure Water-element Pal, almost half of its learned skills are Ice-elemental. This is notable since this trope is normally averted by most Water Pals, which cannot learn Ice attacks naturally.
  • Making a Splash: A Water-elemental Pal.
  • Non-Indicative Name: Now that it's a Water Pal, it is neither fire-elemental nor Vermillion, but is still essentially the same Pal but with access to powerful Water attacks instead. Its Japanese name Shiva fits better since it's based on the Final Fantasy summon version, which has heavy ties to water and ice.
  • Portent of Doom: They were once believed to usher in the rainy season and cause floods if there were too many of them, causing people to cull their numbers when there was a flood the previous year.
  • Power-Up Mount: Suzaku Aqua can be used as a flying mount that gains movement speed for each Water Pal in your party, making it a good transport option for Tamers that use Water-element teams.
  • Underground Monkey: A Water version of Suzaku.
  • Water Is Blue: A blue Water-elemental Pal.

    Dazemu

#123: Dazemu / Toristep (トリステップ)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dazemu.png
Brilliant Steps
A Ground-elemental emu Pal found in desert areas. Their Palpedia entry describes a Survival Mantra to purge oneself of doubts, worries, and fears, allowing one to bravely and confidently face any enemy. This is presumably the mindset that Dazemus run on, although they're still cowardly until attacked.

Their Partner Skill is Sand Sprint, which allows Dazemu to be mounted and also lets it run faster on sand and dirt roads.
  • Cowardly Mooks: Like many other passive Pals, they will run away from the player on seeing them… despite their Palpedia entry being a Survival Mantra for bravery.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Played With. Its Sand Sprint ability mentions that it only activates on sand, multiplying its speed… but it also does so on dirt terrain, which isn't specified in its description. Furthermore, Dazemu is already very fast even when not on sand or dirt, beating out both Rayhound and Fenglope.
  • Disc-One Nuke: Dazemu and its saddle are both available at relatively low levels despite it outstripping nearly every other land mount in the game in terms of speed. Their stats are also not bad for that point in the game, but they fall off in terms of combat ability later on.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: A Ground-elemental Pal.
  • Fragile Speedster: Despite their incredible speed as a mount, particularly on sand and dirt, Dazemu's HP is only average and its Defense is relatively low.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Their Palpedia entry is implied to be their Survival Mantra to muster up courage to face any enemy. They still run away when they see the player, unless attacked.
  • Secret Art: Earth Dash, a charge attack that deals Ground-Element damage.
  • Situational Sword: Their Sand Sprint speed boost only triggers if they're running on sand or dirt.
  • Super-Speed: Dazemu's already capable of running very quickly, but their Sand Sprint partner skill makes them even faster on dirt roads and sand. This makes a fully condensed Dazemu on dirt or sand the fastest ground mount, beating out condensed Direhowl, Rayhound, Fenglope, and Necromus, and tying with a fully-condensed Starryon at night.
  • Survival Mantra: Their Palpedia entry reads like a motivational survival chant to purge oneself of doubts, worries, and fears.
Take one step forward and forget your doubts.
Take two steps forward and forget your worries.
Take three steps forward and forget your fears.
    Face any enemy.

    Quivern

#124: Quivern / Fesukii (フェスキー)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/quivern95.png
A big, fluffy, dragon Pal. Sleeping while cuddling a Quivern is said to be a heavenly experience, but there are some who have been crushed and sent to heaven by ones that toss and turn in their sleep.

Their Partner Skill is Sky Dragon Affection, which allows the player to ride Quivern as a flying mount and boosts the power of Dragon Pals in your team while Quivern is in your party.
  • Acid Attack: At level 15, it learns Acid Rain to create acidic clouds that chase and damage enemies that come into contact.
  • And Call Him "George": Quivern seemingly have no objections to sleeping cuddled up to a tamer, and it's generally a pleasant experience… unless the Quivern rolls over and crushes you.
  • Badass Adorable: Out of all Dragon pals, it's one of the more huggable ones out there with a mostly peaceful temperament whom also can crush those who least expect it.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Quivern is mostly docile and can be found sleeping peacefully at times. However once provoked, they are a force to be reckoned with.
  • Confusion Fu: Their natural level-up moveset contains Dragon, Fire, Ice, Water, and Grass moves.
  • Cuddle Bug: When awake, cuddling a Quivern is said to be a heavenly experience, but some humans were known to be crushed and sent to heaven accidentally by their Quiverns tossing and turning in their sleep. Bonus points for it looking like an animal angel.
  • Deathbringer the Adorable: You can find the Alpha boss in a dungeon that was formerly known as the 'Sealed Realm Of The Winged Tyrant', which is an absurd name when you see how endearingly cute it is. As of the Feybreak update however, the boss name has been instead changed to 'Snow-White Soarer' which is a much more fitting name.
  • Delightful Dragon: A huge, fluffy, angelic dragon Pal that is adorably friendly when caught.
  • Feathered Dragons: They're covered in fluffy feathers that make them great for cuddling.
  • Gentle Giant: Non-Alpha Miniboss versions of Quivern are passive and quite a friendly bunch as long as you don't attack them.
  • Giant Flyer: It has an equally large wingspan to match its big size. Quivern can be ridden as a flying mount, but is not the fastest Pal in the air. Surprisingly, a high-level dragon is comparable in ground speed and flying to Helzephyr, one of the fastest non-legendary flying mounts.
  • Hidden Depths: One of only three dragon Pals to have any skill in handiwork. You wouldn't think a creature so big is able to use crafting benches.
  • Meaningful Name: Quiver + Wyvern. A quiver full of arrows would contain lots of feathered ends, just like how this dragon is covered in feathers.
  • Mighty Glacier: Depending on how well you breed and raise one, while their speed stat will never grow very high, these dragon Pals can become formidable in battle, dishing out and tanking damage even against the powerful late-game bosses. Focusing too much on power alone can make them a Glass Cannon in any other circumstance.
  • Power-Up Mount: Can be used as a flying steed. While its speed is only slightly above average and slower than the earlier Helzephyr, it compensates with better stamina.
  • Sleep Squashing: Quivern is an adorable angel dragon, but due to its size, has accidentally sent humans into Heaven in its sleep.
  • Sleepyhead: Amusingly, the boss will fall asleep in front of you if you don’t provoke it.
  • Stat Sticks: Simply having a Quivern in the party will boost the attacking power of all Dragon-Elemental Pals, making them great for support filler if you only rely on a single powerful Dragon Pal.
  • Support Party Member: Their presence in the party boosts the attack of all your Dragon-elemental Pals in the party, giving it a unique niche in keeping them around even after they get overshadowed by stronger Dragon-element Pals.
  • Super Drowning Skills: They can't swim, and will sink like a rock if you run out of stamina while flying over a large body of water.

#124b: Quivern Botan / Forresukii (フォレスキー)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/quivern_botan.png
Evergreen Flyer
A green, Grass/Dragon counterpart to Quivern. When hugging Quivern Botan, the smell coming off it can predict the weather: if it smells like sunshine and meadows, it means the next day will be bright and sunny, but if it smells damp, the next day will be wet and rainy.

Their Partner Skill is Grass Dragon Affection, which allows the player to ride Quivern Botan as a flying mount. While mounted, the player's attack is boosted significantly and their attacks will deal Grass-elemental damage.
  • Green Thumb: A Grass-elemental.
  • Living Barometer: For whatever reason, Quivern Botan can sense changes in weather and change its scent appropriately.
  • Planimal: Being green and Grass-elemental, as well as dropping Beautiful Flowers, suggests Quivern Botan's feathers are closer to foliage.
  • Spell Blade: When Quivern Botan is mounted, they will change the player's attacks to Grass-elemental while also providing a significant boost in damage.
  • Underground Monkey: A Grass version of Quivern.

    Lullu

#125: Lullu / Flufflower (フワフラワ Fuwafurawa)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lullu.png
A Grass-elemental Pal resembling a flower person. During the spring, Lullu release pollen that floats all over the island, which is responsible for the rise in Flopie hay fever.

Their Partner Skill is Floral Boost, which increases the growth rate of crops at the base.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Flopie's Palpedia entry mentions their hay fever, while Lullu's Palpedia entry states that they are to blame for said hay fever when their pollen wafts around the island in spring. In early access, Flopie could be found around Sakurajima where Lullu can be found, but in the final release, this is no longer the case and Flopie only around the Crescent Moon Shore, a bit far from Sakurajima.
  • Green Thumb: A Grass-elemental Pal.
  • Plant Person: They resemble humanoid flowers with floral hair and flower skirts.
  • Spectacular Spinning: They contribute to building structures by spinning in circles with a hammer in hand. This somehow helps with construction.
  • Utility Party Member: Lullu's partner skill is useless in battle, but they are one of only two methods to reduce crop growth times while in the base, with the other being the Planter Box. Unlike the Planter Box, whose effect doesn't stack with more boxes, Lullu's effect does, allowing multiple Lullus to reduce crop growth time by a huge margin.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Lullu's stats are nothing to write home about, with 90 base Attack/HP and 80 base defense. However, they naturally learn three high power moves upon leveling up in Holy Burst, Circle Vine, and Solar Blast. They're also the only Pal that can increase crop growth speed, making them essential for a farming base.
