Teachers
Herobrine
Teacher Herobrine

- Adaptation Personality Change: Possibly. In official lore, he's a mysterious being possessing the game of Minecraft in the form of a mob modeled after Steve who stalks players., and is interpreted by some to be malevolent, likely killing players. Here, he's just a teacher and doesn't participate in the challenges.
- Badass Teacher: Even though we don't see him in combat, his powers are pretty cool.
- The Cynic: Described as "the opposite of jolly and upbeat", meaning that he's cynical and negative.
Hildegarde
Teacher Hildegarde

- Adaptational Badass: While the witches in the game are limited to making only potions, Hildegarde manages to go further, possessing:
- Telekineses: Hildegarde's main choice of magic. She can make things appear and disappear.
- Transformation: Hildegarde can transform objects, as seen in the brewing lesson.
- Also, unlike other witches, Hildegarde is able to unfold her arms and reconnect them again.
- Adapted Out: In most adaptations of "Monster School", Hildegarde is absent, and there isn't even a character (teacher or student) that is a Witch.
- All Witches Have Cats: Hildegarde is a witch and she has two pets, and one of them is a tuxedo cat.
- Non-Human Sidekick: She owns a tuxedo cat and a pet bat.
- Purple Is Powerful: Like the witches from the game, Hildegarde wears a royal purple robe, and is even more powerful, possessing other fantastic abilities besides alchemy.
- Witch Classic: Being a Witch mob, she naturally makes her debut in the "Brewing" episode.
Original Students
Zombee
Zombee

- Book Dumb: He is very dimwitted but is shown to be an excellent miner.
- Lodged Blade Removal: "Combat" had a player throw his sword at Zombee, only for him to pull it out of his torso to cut him apart with.
Skellington
Skellington

- Best Friend: To Spider.
- Chef of Iron: Skellington is an expert cook, preparing a roast chicken in Cooking, poisons a pumpkin pie as a plan B in "Combat" when forced to use a bow, and when he's given a sword instead of a bow for "Combat #2", he easily filets Cavell.
- Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy: Skellington cannot shoot a bow with anywhere near the efficiency you would expect from the "archer" mob of Minecraft.
- Supreme Chef: He was seen making a cake and a roast chicken, both delicious. And he even gets an "A" in "Cooking".
- Too Dumb to Live: Ends up brewing a Potion of Healing in "Brewing" without realizng that being an undead mob means it would kill him.
Creep
Creep

- A Lizard Named "Liz": He's a creeper named Creep.
- Lazy Bum: Creep prefers to steal his classmates' assignments and homework instead of putting in the effort to do his own.
- Sticky Fingers: Despite his lack of fingers (or arms for that matter), he is notorious for stealing things such as other students' homework.
Spider
Spider

- A Dog Named "Dog": A spider named "Spider".
- Best Friend: To Skellington.
- Out of Focus: He conspicuously doesn't appear in later unofficial versions of Monster School. In animations that make use of the original cast of eight, he is replaced by a Wither Skeleton (who may or may not be Witton).
Endie
Endie

- Berserk Button: As with any other enderman, he would tear apart anyone who looks directly at his eyes. Downplayed in that he usually makes an active attempt to not look at anyone, suggesting that he can't stop himself when this happens.
- Dark Is Not Evil: Endie is an Enderman, so he has a deep black skin, and he is the nicest and friendliest of the students.
- Jerkass to One: Endie absolutely hates Zombieswine because of his bullying.
- Nice Guy: He is the friendliest of the students, as long as you are on the good side.
Mucus
Mucus

- Butt-Monkey: Its small size makes it an easy and favorite target for bullying by Zombieswine.
- Token Minority: While it's not clear from what country ANY other student is, the fact Mucus being from France is pointed out implies he's the only French in the school.
Zombieswine
Zombieswine

- Bludgeoned to Death: In "Combat #2," Zupay manages to yank his hammer from him before flattening him with it.
- The Bully: Was the only bully in the class, up until Zupay arrived.
- Carry a Big Stick: Prefers a large golden hammer over a golden sword.
- Jerkass: Is naturally very mean as he is a bully.
- No-Sell: Is able to wade through a lava pit in "Mining," and gets a good laugh when Zombee tries it and had to be pulled out by Endie.
Ghist
Ghist

- Adaptational Badass: In the game, the fireballs that the Ghasts throw are not capable of breaking stone, in "Stealing," it is shown that the Ghist's fireballs are capable of doing so.
- Creepy Souvenir: Ghist loves collecting heads, which is best shown in Meet The Students.
- Extreme Doormat: In "Stealing", Ghist shot a fireball at Skellington and Spider at Zombieswine's command, hinting at a submissive and easily persuaded personality.
- Ship Tease: With Multus. She becomes more shy near him.
- Shrinking Violet: Ghist collects heads precisely to use them for company, since she is lonely. She acts even more shy around Multus, on whom she has a crush because he is a Wither: a large flying creature from the Nether that shoots projectiles just like her.
- The Smurfette Principle: The only female of the original eight students.
New Students
Maggie
Maggie

- Adapted Out: In most adaptations of "Monster School", Maggie is absent, and there isn't even a student that is a Magma Cube.
- Big Eater: Maggie loves to eat cakes.
Silvester
Silvester

- Adapted Out: In most adaptations of "Monster School", Silvester is absent, and there isn't even a student that is a Silverfish.
- Late for School: Is notably late for the "Mining" lesson and is only able to dig up some stone blocks before Herobrine dismisses the class.
- Security Cling: Crawls over to Zombee to be hugged when the bus driver's manner of driving proves too much for him in "Bus Trip."
- Shrinking Violet: He gets scared easily and would burrow into the ground when frightened.
Zupay
Zupay

- Adapted Out: In most adaptations of "Monster School", Zupay is absent, and there isn't even a student that is a Baby Zombie Villager.
- Bad Santa: In the Christmas special, he dresses up in a black version of the Santa costume and gives humans gift boxes containing traps that harm or kill them instead.
- The Bully: Is shown to be an even worse one than Zombieswine.
- Cute Is Evil: As stated in his debut episode, Zupay may seem cuter and friendlier compared to the other monster students, but he is the most wicked of them all.
- Enfant Terrible: He seems like a small and cute kid, but of course, is actually violent.
- For the Evulz: While the class bell rings, he amputates the arm of a Zombie Villager janitor, for literally no reason.
- Green and Mean: Zupay is a green-skinned baby zombie villager and the most mean character in the series.
- Jerkass: Zupay manages to be even worse than Zombieswine and Multus's right head.
- Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Zupay overpowers everyone he fights in "Combat #2", is able to use Zombieswine's giant gold hammer without much difficulty, and manages to pin Multus to the edge of the ring.
Cavell
Cavell

A Cave Spider who won't accept that he needs help because he's small.
- Adapted Out: In most adaptations of "Monster School", Cavell is absent, and there isn't even a student that is a Cave Spider.
Blaise
Blaise

- Adapted Out: In most adaptations of "Monster School", Blaise is absent, and there isn't even a student that is a Blaze.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: Has a very short temper. Endie even gives her a book titled "How to Handle Anger Issues" as a Christmas gift.
Witton
Witton

- The Ace: Not at all in Willcraft's original series, but later unofficial Monster School videos make him an expert hacker who can warp reality to achieve his goals.
- Adaptational Intelligence: Some newer adaptations of Monster School tend to give him an intelligence of a hacker, a trait Witton heavily exploits to get a high grade.
- Dual Wielding: Wields a pair of Stone Swords for "Combat #2". Wither Skeletons in the game only come with one sword.
- Dumb Jock: On top of his stupidity, he is described as being into combat sports.
Multus
Multus

- Adapted Out: In most adaptations of "Monster School", Multus is absent, and there isn't even a student that is a Wither.
- The Baby of the Bunch: Although he doesn't look it, Multus is technically the youngest of all the students at Monster School, since he was spawned by Hildegarde's bat shortly after it extended its invitation to enroll in the school.
- Jerkass: Multus's right head is evil-minded.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Multus' middle head. Although he enjoys scaring others, he shows subtle moments of kindness, such as helping Ghist to her feet after she is knocked down by his right head in "Acrobatics".
- Meaningful Name: Multus means many in Latin, fitting for a three-headed wither with three different personalities.
- Nice Guy: Multus's left head is the kinder head.
- Nice, Mean, and In-Between: A rare example of a single character fulfilling this trope. His three heads. The friendly left head is the nice, the more malicious right head is the mean, and the middle head is the in-between, liking to scare people but not being as evil as the right head, and also the one that controlls the body.
- Ship Tease: With Ghist. In the last episode of the original series, he even gives her a head made by him, knowing Ghist loves collecting heads.
