"This account is dedicated to sharing obscure facts and cut/scrapped content from video games!"
Cut and Obscure Video Game Content (@CutVideoGame
) is a Twitter / X account dedicated to sharing media from video games that never made it into a final product. It supposedly collects examples of things that were left dummied out or never implemented for posting, offering tidbits of lesser known video game history. However, that's far from true: the account's posts are all completely fake.
The account's "discoveries" contain examples of:
- A.I. Is a Crapshoot: A sequel
to Super Mario Odyssey was meant to use real-time AI learning for Mario, which resulted in him becoming "uncooperative" and Flipping the Bird at the player. - American Kirby Is Hardcore: Parodied. The American release of Kirby's Dream Land had an "unused cutscene
" meant to play after beating its first boss Whispy Woods, which shows a suddenly muscular and humanoid Kirby screaming and then punching the boss to dust. - Bait-and-Switch: The account posted a full version
of Gaster's theme from Undertale that, once it reaches the "new" part, transitions into Buddy Holly by Weezer. - "Balls" Gag: Super Monkey Ball was originally titled "Super Monkey Balls
", something that the account doesn't find funny due to being "X.com users of integrity". - Ban on Politics: Face Raiders supposedly
doesn't let you use pictures of political, religious, and Nintendo of Japan leaders for enemies. - Content Warnings: Five Nights at Freddy's 1 had warnings that would show before each Jump Scare in the game. However, they were cut because the loud sounds and giant red text made them scarier than what they were warning about.
- Crossover: Puyo Puyo Wordle
is a supposed one between Puyo Puyo and Wordle, made in the same style as Puyo Puyo Tetris where both games can be played at the same time. - Faceship: The COVGC Submarine
, which was apparently used to explore the Marina Trench in search of video game facts, is shaped like the head of Toad from Super Mario Bros. (who is used for the account's profile picture). - Forced Sleep: There was a post on the account in 2022
about Pokémon Sleep's lack of development activity since its 2019 announcement, reporting that the developers were put in a sleeping curse which can only be broken by True Love's Kiss. Naturally, when the game was later given a surprise new trailer for Pokémon Day 2023 alongside a summer release date, the account responded, "Who did it.
" - Giving Someone the Pointer Finger: The "scripulous_fingore
" is an unused enemy from New Super Mario Bros. 1 that's constantly pointing a floating hand towards Mario. - Kayfabe: The account will always reaffirm that everything it posts is real when asked, even when that's clearly not the case. People who submit posts to the account are credited for "discovering" them rather than creating them.
- The Stoner: "Baked Cookie
", a quickly removed CookieRun: OvenBreak character who is "always relaxed" and is seen smoking.
