Add a trade-in to an order

If you trade in your old device when you buy a new device from the Google Store, you can get credit back. You can trade in your old device in these countries:

  • Australia
  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Canada
  • France
  • Germany
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • The Netherlands
  • Spain
  • The United Kingdom
  • The United States

You can only trade in your device during checkout. You can't add a trade-in after you buy your new device.

How to trade-in your old device when you buy a new one

  1. Go to the Google Store.
  2. Choose the Pixel device you want.
  3. Select Buy.
  4. Pick the color and storage space you want for your new device.
  5. To tell us about your old device, select Get Estimate.
  6. Tell us about your device to check the estimated value for the trade-in.
    • If you don't find your device’s manufacturer, model, or storage size on the list, you can't trade it in.
    • After you buy the new device, you can’t change what you told us about your old device.
      • The first estimated value is based on what you told us about your device and may include extra money because of special deals.
      • The trade-in value price is based on how your old device looks when we inspect it.
      • Any differences between the information you provide and your device’s actual model and condition may impact the device’s final trade-in value.
  7. Before you select "Add trade-in," if the value changes after inspection and you’d like your device returned to you, uncheck Accept the new value if it changes after inspection.
  8. To add your trade in, select Add trade-in.
    • After you get your new device, the estimate you were given is valid for 30 days. Choose your Pixel device coverage plan or select Skip.
    • To add the new device to your shopping cart, select Add to basket.
  9. Keep shopping or select Go to basket.
  10. To complete your order and get ready to trade in your device, choose your payment method.
  11. Select Proceed to checkout.
  12. Once your order is confirmed, you'll get a confirmation email with further instructions.
    • If you trade-in your old device and don’t get an email within 24 hours, contact Google Store Support.
