Edit the behavior of absolute (knob/fader) assignments in Logic Pro for iPad

The Absolute (Knob/Fader) option in the MIDI Behavior pop-up menu is designed for continuous controls (such as knobs, faders, and wheels) that send absolute MIDI messages.

Logic Pro

Depending on the type of Logic Pro control that’s assigned, the following settings are available:

  • Range fields: Enter minimum and maximum values for the range of the parameter in Logic Pro. The value of the MIDI message is scaled onto the range. This setting is available for continuous plug-in parameters, such as a cut-off frequency knob.

  • Invert switch: Invert the behavior. This setting is available when you assign a MIDI device’s fader or knob to toggle switches and buttons in Logic Pro, such as the Mute button in a track header.

  • Trigger: MIDI values other than zero trigger the keyboard shortcut. This setting is available when you assign a MIDI device’s fader or knob to a keyboard shortcut that toggles on and off, such as play or count-in.
