If it’s your first import into Final Cut Pro for Mac

The first time you open Final Cut Pro, it contains no media. You can import media from your Mac, a storage device, or another app.

  1. In the Final Cut Pro main window, click Create Library.

  2. Enter a name for your library, then click Save.

    Final Cut Pro adds the new library to the Libraries sidebar and creates an event within it named with the date.

  3. Click Import Media.

  4. Follow the instructions for importing files from a file-based camera, from your Mac or storage device, or from iPhone or iPad.

To start editing, create a new project.
