Use rulers in Numbers on Mac

You can show rulers to help you position and align objects, and hide the rulers when you don’t need them.

Show or hide rulers

  1. Go to the Numbers app on your Mac.

  2. Open a spreadsheet, click the View menu button in the toolbar, then choose Show Rulers or Hide Rulers.

Change ruler units

If you can’t see the ruler, click the View menu button in the toolbar, then choose Show Ruler.

  1. Go to the Numbers app on your Mac.

  2. Open a spreadsheet, choose Numbers > Settings (from the Numbers menu at the top of your screen), then click Rulers at the top of the settings window.

  3. Click the Ruler Units pop-up menu, then choose an increment (Points, Centimetres or Inches).

Show position coordinates

  1. Go to the Numbers app on your Mac.

  2. Open a spreadsheet, choose Numbers > Settings (from the Numbers menu at the top of your screen), then click Rulers at the top of the settings window.
