Turn your Mac volume up or down

To change the volume on your Mac, do any of the following:

Use the volume keys on your keyboard or use the Control Strip. For example, to quickly mute the volume, press .
Click in the menu bar or Control Centre, then drag the slider to adjust the volume.
Note: If isn’t in the menu bar, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Menu Bar in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.) Select Sound, then click the pop-up menu next to Sound to choose whether to show Sound in the menu bar all the time or only when it’s active.
Use the volume controls within apps, such as the Apple TV app.
