Turn iPod touch on or off
Use the Sleep/Wake button to turn on iPod touch. You can use the top button (along with either volume button on some models) or Settings 
to turn off iPod touch.
If your iPod touch isn’t working as expected, you can try restarting it by turning it off, then turning it back on. If turning it off and on doesn’t fix the issue, try forcing it to restart.
Turn on iPod touch
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Turn off iPod touch
Do one of the following:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button, then drag the slider.
Go to Settings
> General > Shut Down, then drag the slider.
