Undo and redo edits in Logic Pro for Mac

You can undo one or more edit operations, and redo undone edits. Logic Pro for Mac includes an Undo History window with a time-ordered list of all edits that can be undone. You can also change the number of steps that can be undone (up to 200) in Logic Pro > Settings > General > Editing.

Undo your last edit operation

In Logic Pro, choose Edit > Undo (or press Command-Z) immediately after making the edit you wish to undo. You can repeat the command to undo previous edits.

You can undo virtually any edit, including moves, deletions, renaming, and parameter changes; and the creation of new events, regions, channel strips, and more.

Redo your last undone edit operation

In Logic Pro, choose Edit > Redo (or press Shift-Command-Z) after the previous Undo operation. You can repeat the command to redo previously undone edits.

You can redo virtually any edit, including moves, deletions, renaming, and parameter changes; and the creation of new events, regions, channel strips, and more.

Open the Undo History window

In Logic Pro, choose Edit > Undo History (or press Option-Command-Z).

The Undo History window displays a list of all actions that can be undone or redone. The most recent editing operation, which will be the first to be undone, is highlighted. Dimmed items are listed below the most recent editing operation in reverse chronological order, indicating that they are undone.

Undo or redo multiple steps

In Logic Pro, do any of the following:

In the Undo History window, select an entry in the list to undo the steps below it.
Select a dimmed entry to redo it, along with any dimmed steps above it.
Click the Undo button to undo the currently selected step.
Click the Redo button to redo the step below the currently selected step.

Note: Dimmed actions can be redone until you make another edit in Logic Pro. When you make another edit, dimmed entries are removed from the list, and replaced by an entry for the new edit.

Include Mixer and plug-in edits in the Undo History list

In Logic Pro, click the Mixer and Plug-in buttons in the Undo History window.
You can repeat the command to undo previous edits.

Delete the Undo History

In Logic Pro, choose Edit > Delete Undo History.

WARNING: Take care with this command. No undos or redos are possible for the deleted steps, once the Undo History has been deleted.

Change the number of undo steps

In Logic Pro, choose Logic Pro > Settings > General, and then click Editing.
Change the number in the Number of Undo Steps value slider.
