Intro to tracking guidelines in Motion

Selecting a good tracking reference pattern in a movie or image sequence is crucial in achieving accurate motion-tracking results. However, tracking a single reference pattern with a single analysis pass rarely yields a perfect result. More often, a successful track combines automatic and manual tracking, experimenting with parameter settings, and resetting reference points at various locations in the clip. For more information, see Basic tracking strategies in Motion.

Additionally, a successful track may employ more advanced techniques, such as smoothing a track curve or converting tracking data to modifiable animation curves in the Keyframe Editor, or manually coaxing your tracking analysis. For more information, see Advanced tracking strategies in Motion.
