Save and name spreadsheets in Numbers on iPad

Numbers automatically saves your spreadsheet as you work and gives it a default name. At any time, you can rename the spreadsheet or create a duplicate of it with a different name.

Rename a spreadsheet

  1. Go to the Numbers app on your iPad.

  2. Open a spreadsheet you want to rename, tap the Actions Menu button in the toolbar, then tap Rename.

  3. Enter a new name, then tap the Done button on the keyboard.

To quickly delete the current name, tap the Clear Text button in the text field.

Save a copy of a spreadsheet

  1. Go to the Numbers app on your iPad.

  2. If a spreadsheet is already open, tap the Back button in the top-left corner to see all your spreadsheets.

  3. Touch and hold the spreadsheet thumbnail, lift your finger, then tap Duplicate.

The duplicate appears with a number appended to its name.

If you can’t see the presentation you want to copy, try searching for it, or tap the Show Sidebar button and navigate to the file in the sidebar. See Find a spreadsheet.
