Apply Photographic Styles with your iPhone Camera

On iPhone 13 models, iPhone 14 models, and iPhone SE (3rd generation), you can apply a Photographic Style that customizes how Camera captures photos. Choose from the preset styles—Rich Contrast, Vibrant, Warm, or Cool—then customize them further by adjusting the tone and warmth values. Camera applies your choice every time you take a photo in Photo mode. You can change and adjust Photographic Styles right in Camera.

Camera is open and the screen shows the Photographic Style screen. In the top-left corner of the screen is the Flash button. In the top center of the screen is the Camera Controls button; it is turned on. In the top-right corner are the Photographic Styles On and Live Photo buttons. Filling the camera screen, the Rich Contrast style is on the camera frame. Below the camera frame is the Styles button, the sliders to adjust the Tone and Warmth values and the Styles Reset button. At the bottom of the screen from left to right are the Photo and Video Viewer button, the Take Picture button the Camera Chooser Back-Facing button.

Choose a Photographic Style

Camera is automatically set to Standard—a balanced style that is true to life. To apply a different Photographic Style, do the following:

  1. Open Camera, then tap the Camera Controls button.

  2. Tap the Photographic Styles button, then swipe left to preview the different styles:

    • Rich Contrast: Darker shadows, richer colors, and stronger contrast create a dramatic look.

    • Vibrant: Wonderfully bright and vivid colors create a brilliant yet natural look.

    • Warm: Golden undertones create a warmer look.

    • Cool: Blue undertones create a cooler look.

    To customize a Photographic Style, tap the Tone and Warmth controls below the frame, then drag the slider left or right to adjust the value. Tap the Photographic Styles Reset button to reset the values.

  3. Tap the Photographic Styles button to apply the Photographic Style.

To change or adjust a Photographic Style that you set, tap the Photographic Styles On button at the top of the screen.

You can also change Photographic Styles in Settings: go to Settings  > Camera > Photographic Styles.
