Change settings in Podcasts on Mac

In the Podcasts app on your Mac, use Podcasts settings to change various options.

General

Use the General pane in Podcasts settings to change options for syncing and downloading episodes.

To change these settings, choose Podcasts > Settings, then click General.

Option	Description
Sync Library	Automatically sync any changes you make to the podcasts you follow, your stations, and current play position to every Mac, iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch where you’re signed in to the same Apple Account. See Sync podcasts across devices. If you have an iPod classic, iPod nano, or iPod shuffle, you have to sync your device with your Mac to add podcasts and other content to it. See Sync podcasts between your Mac and iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Download When Saving	Download episodes when you save them.
Remove Played Downloads	Automatically delete downloaded episodes 24 hours after you play them.
Automatically Download	Choose whether to automatically download episodes from shows you follow and how many episodes to keep.

Use the Playback pane in Podcasts settings to specify playback, skip buttons, and headphone controls options.

To change these settings, choose Podcasts > Settings, then click Playback.

Option	Description
Continuous Playback	Select what happens when an episode ends. Continue playing after an episode ends: Automatically play the next episode in the Playing Next queue. Stop when an episode ends: Stop playback.
Skip Buttons	Choose the amount of time the Skip Forward and Skip Back buttons jump in the podcast, from 10 seconds to 60 seconds.
Headphone Controls	Select how headphone controls advance the podcast. Next/Previous: Play the next or previous episode. Forward/Back: Automatically skip ahead (in 30-second increments) or go back (in 15-second increments) in the same episode.

Forward/Back: Automatically skip ahead (in 30-second increments) or go back (in 15-second increments) in the same episode.

Use the Advanced pane in Podcasts settings to specify options for hiding played episodes and showing Siri Suggestions.

To change these settings, choose Podcasts > Settings, then click Advanced.

Option	Description
Hide Played Episodes	Hide episodes that you fully played or marked as played. (This setting only applies to shows you follow.)
Show Siri Suggestions	Allow Siri to learn from and make suggestions based on your use of Podcasts. To learn more about how Apple protects your information and lets you choose what you share, choose Apple menu > System Settings, click Apple Intelligence & Siri in the sidebar (you may need to scroll down), click Siri Suggestions & Privacy, then click About Siri, Dictation, & Privacy.
