Magnify objects around you with iPhone

In the Magnifier app , you can use your iPhone as a magnifying glass to zoom in on objects near you. You can also use your iPhone to detect people, objects, and scenes around you with Detection Mode and Image Descriptions.

Turn on Magnifier

Open the Magnifier app in any of the following ways:

Adjust the image

  1. To adjust the zoom, drag the slider left or right.

  2. Swipe up to reveal more controls. If you don’t see the controls you want, you can add more controls.

  3. Use any of the following controls:

    • Adjust the brightness: Tap the Brightness button.

    • Adjust the contrast: Tap the Contrast button.

    • Apply color filters: Tap the Filters button. (See Choose your favorite color filters.)

    • Add more light: Tap the Flashlight button to turn on the flashlight.

    • Lock the focus: Tap the Focus Lock button.

    • Switch to a different camera: Tap the Cameras button to switch to the front or rear camera. On iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max, you can also choose Close-up when you need to see something very small on an object in front of you.

Freeze the frame

You can freeze one or more frames and review them.

Note: Freeze frames aren’t saved to Photos.

  1. Tap the Freeze Frame button.

    When you’re finished, tap the Close button.

  2. To freeze more frames, tap the Enter Multi Shot button, reposition the camera, then tap the Add button.

  3. To review the freeze frames, tap View, then tap the frames you want to see.

  4. To return to the live lens, tap End.
