Save and name a document in Pages on iPad

Pages automatically saves your document as you work and gives it a default name. At any time, you can rename the document or create a copy of it with a different name.

Rename a document

  1. Go to the Pages app on your iPad.

  2. Open the document you want to rename.

  3. Tap the Action Menu button in the toolbar, then tap Rename.

  4. Enter a new name, then tap the Done button on the keyboard.

To quickly delete the current name, tap the Clear Text button in the text field.

Save a copy of a document

  1. Go to the Pages app on your iPad.

  2. If a document is already open, tap the Back button in the top-left corner to see all your documents.

  3. Touch and hold the thumbnail of the document you want to copy, lift your finger, then tap Duplicate.

The duplicate appears with a number appended to its name.

If you can’t see the document you want to copy, try searching for it, or tap Browse or Recents at the bottom of the screen. For more information, see Find a document.
