Customize the toolbar in MainStage

By default, the toolbar includes a selection of buttons and a display meter chosen to be universally useful. However, you can customize the toolbar for your own personal workflow. Also, though the toolbar is also configured to show only icons, you can configure the toolbar to show both icons and text. You can customize the toolbar in any mode (Layout, Edit, or Perform in Window) in which the toolbar is displayed.

Configure the toolbar to show icons and text

  • In MainStage, Control-click anywhere in the toolbar, then choose Icon and Text from the shortcut menu.

Descriptive text appears under each button.

Configure the toolbar to show icons only

  • In MainStage, Control-click anywhere in the toolbar, then choose Icon Only.

Customize the toolbar

  1. In MainStage, Control-click anywhere in the toolbar, then choose Customize Toolbar.

A window containing all the available toolbar buttons appears under the toolbar.

  2. Drag each button that you want to appear in your toolbar from the customize toolbar window onto the toolbar in the location that you want the button to appear.

Note: You can also use the customize toolbar window to rearrange the buttons that are already on the toolbar, or to revert to the default set of buttons.

  3. If you want to change whether the toolbar shows the icon only or icon and text, you can select one or the other in the Show pop-up menu of the Customize Toolbar window. If you don’t want to change the current display setting, you can skip this step.
