CONCAT

The CONCAT function joins (concatenates) values or the contents of cell ranges or strings.

CONCAT replaces the CONCATENATE function, but CONCATENATE is still available for compatibility purposes.

CONCAT(string, string…)

string: Any value. Can also be a cell or a range of cells.

string…: Optionally include one or more additional values or cell references.

Notes

  • As an alternative to the CONCAT function, you can use &, the concatenation operator.

    Important: &, the concatenation operator, can only be used to concatenate individual values, not cell ranges.

  • If you want to add a delimiter between values, use TEXTJOIN.

Examples

Given A1=1, A2=2, A3=3, B1=A, B2=B, and B3=C:

=CONCAT(A,B) returns "123ABC".

=CONCAT(B1:B2, A2:A3) returns "AB23".

="A"&"B"&"2"&"3" also returns "AB23", because & is the concatenation operator.
