Reset Messages settings in Logic Pro for Mac

When Enable Complete Features is selected in Advanced settings, Reset Messages are available.

Logic Pro for Mac handles MIDI reset messages automatically and intelligently, so you can leave these options unselected—which they are, by default. The settings are included for compatibility with older MIDI devices. For the selected controller types, a reset message is sent to all MIDI outputs when using any of the following reset commands:

  • Use the key command Send Reset Controllers.

  • Press the Stop key twice (default key command 0).

  • Click the MIDI Activity display in the control bar (only available when the Custom display mode is selected in the control bar).

Note: Click only once because a double-click triggers a full reset.

  • Start or stop playback when the “Send full MIDI reset before chasing” checkbox is selected in the Chase project settings.

Note: Reset messages are only sent for MIDI events that are chased on the track. The other reset methods send resets regardless of the current content on the MIDI tracks.

You can set the options separately for software instruments and external MIDI devices.

Note: These instrument settings are Program, Volume, and Pan parameters in the Track inspector that must have their checkbox selected to be included in the reset.
