Create a profile in Safari on Mac

You can keep your personal browsing separate from your work, school, and other browsing by creating a profile for each part of your life.

Three Safari profile windows: one for home, one for work, and one for school.

Open Safari for me

  1. Go to the Safari app on your Mac.

  2. Choose Safari > Settings, then click Profiles.

If this is your first profile, click Start Using Profiles.

  3. Click the Add button below the profiles list.

If this is your first profile, you can skip this step.

  4. Enter a name for this profile, then choose an icon and color.

  5. Choose a bookmarks folder for your favorite websites in this profile.

  6. Click Create Profile.

  7. Click Extensions to select the ones you want to use with this profile.

If you store passwords on iCloud Keychain, the passwords are available in any profile you create.

Note: In addition to any profile you create, you always have a Personal (Default) profile. You can change the name, icon, and color of your Personal profile.
