Edit the behavior of button and switch assignments in Logic Pro for iPad
Buttons and switches on MIDI controllers may send MIDI note messages or use control change messages to indicate when the button is pressed or released, or when the switch is moved from one position to the other. The Toggle and Trigger options in the MIDI Behavior pop-up menu allow you to choose how your MIDI device's buttons and switches control parameters and functions in Logic Pro for iPad.
Logic Pro toggle settings
Depending on the type of Logic Pro control that’s assigned, the following settings are available for the Toggle option in the MIDI Behavior pop-up menu.
Behavior pop-up menu: Choose a toggle behavior for the Logic Pro control. The choices are:
Toggle (Momentary): Pressing the toggle on your MIDI device sets the Logic Pro parameter to the on value, and releasing the toggle sets it to the off value.
Toggle on Press: Pressing the toggle on your MIDI device sets the Logic Pro parameter to the on value, and pressing the toggle again sets it to the off value.
Toggle on Release: Releasing the toggle on your MIDI device sets the Logic Pro parameter to the on value, and releasing the toggle again sets it to the off value.
Increment: Pressing the toggle on your MIDI device increases the Logic Pro parameter in increments specified in the Increment By field.
Set Value on Press: Pressing the toggle on your MIDI device sets the Logic Pro parameter to the value set in the Value field.
Set Value on Release: Releasing the toggle on your MIDI device sets the Logic Pro parameter to the value set in the Value field.
Different settings appear when you choose a toggle option from the Logic Pro Behavior pop-up menu. All the available settings are listed below.
Value field: Set a value for the Logic Pro parameter.
On Value and Off Value fields: Set the on and off values for the Logic Pro parameter.
Range fields: Enter minimum and maximum values for the range of the Logic Pro parameter.
Invert switch: Invert the behavior.
Trigger on Press: Pressing the toggle triggers the keyboard shortcut.
Repeat Until Released switch: Pressing and holding the hardware control repeats the increment or decrement, or the keyboard shortcut, until the control is released.
The following options are also available when you choose Increment in the Logic Pro Behavior pop-up menu.
Increment By field: Set the amount by which the Logic Pro parameter increases. Set a negative value to decrement.
Wrap Around switch: If you increase a parameter value beyond the maximum range, the value returns to the minimum range value.
