Reset Messages settings in Logic Pro for Mac

In Logic Pro, the MIDI settings contain the Reset Messages settings. Logic Pro handles MIDI reset messages automatically and intelligently, so you can leave these options set to their default configuration.

For the selected controller types, a reset message is sent on all MIDI channels to all available MIDI outputs when using any of the following reset commands:

  • Use the key command Send Reset Controllers.

  • Press the Stop key twice (default key command 0).

  • Click the MIDI Activity display in the control bar (only available when the Custom display mode is selected in the control bar).

Note: Click only once because a double-click triggers a full reset.

  • Start or stop playback when the “Send full MIDI reset before chasing” checkbox is selected in the Chase project settings.

Software Instruments

The reset messages are sent for MIDI events that are used on a track.

  • Control 64 (Sustain) off checkbox: Sends a Control 64 off (Sustain) message to all software instruments when using a reset command.

  • Control 4 (Foot Control) to zero checkbox: Sends a Control 4 (Foot Control) to zero message to all external MIDI instruments when using a reset command.

  • Control 2 (Breath) to zero checkbox: Sends a Control 2 (Breath Control) to zero message to all external MIDI instruments when using a reset command.

  • Control 1 (Modulation) to zero checkbox: Sends a Control 1 (Modulation) to zero message to all software instruments when using a reset command.

  • Aftertouch to zero checkbox: Sends an Aftertouch to zero message to all external MIDI instruments when using a reset command.

  • Pitch Bend to center position checkbox: Sends a Pitch Bend to center position message to all software instruments when using a reset command.
