Reorder tracks in Logic Pro for Mac

You can reorder tracks in the Tracks area. Changing the order of tracks doesn’t affect the sound of a project, but lets you organize tracks visually to keep instruments in a particular order, or keep related tracks together. For example, you can keep all drum tracks together, or keep all tracks that double the same melody together.

You can also sort tracks by choosing one of the options in the Track > Sort Tracks By menu.

Reorder tracks

  • In Logic Pro, press and hold an empty part of the track header, then drag the track up or down.

Sort tracks

  • In Logic Pro, choose Track > Sort Tracks By, then choose an item from the submenu:

    • MIDI Channel

    • Audio Channel

    • Output Channel

    • Instrument Name

    • Track Name

    • Used or Unused
