Change preferences in iTunes on PC

Use iTunes preferences to change options for your iTunes library, how music plays, and more.

In the iTunes app on your PC, choose Edit > Preferences, then click a preference pane:

  • General: Change settings that range from naming a library to choosing how to show lists.

  • Playback: Choose how to fade songs in and out, change music sound quality during playback, and more.

  • Playback Captions: Control how subtitles are styled.

  • Sharing: Share your library (or specific playlists) or update play counts.

  • Downloads: Set items to download automatically, and choose the size and quality you want.

  • Store: Set password requirements, sync and download items, and more.

  • Restrictions: Prevent access to the iTunes Store, shared libraries, and certain types of content.

  • Devices: View and delete device backups, choose syncing options, and more.

  • Advanced: Set and organize your iTunes Media folder, choose how to show MiniPlayer and movie windows, and more.
