Keyboard, Commanders category, VoiceOver Utility on Mac

Use the Keyboard pane of the Commanders category in VoiceOver Utility to turn on the Keyboard Commander and assign VoiceOver commands to key combinations you create, which might be easier for you to remember or perform.

To open VoiceOver Utility, press Command-F5 to turn VoiceOver on, then press VO-F8.

Option

Description

Enable Keyboard Commander

Turn the Keyboard Commander on or off.

Use

Choose a key to use as the designated Keyboard Commander modifier: Right Option Key, Left Option Key, or Both Option Keys.

Keyboard Key

Keyboard keys assigned to VoiceOver commands.

Command

Commands assigned to keyboard keys.

To assign a different command to a key, click the command field to display pop-up menus for the different types of commands, then choose a command.

Add button

Add a key to the list. Type the key, click the Command pop-up menu, then choose a VoiceOver command to assign to the key.

Remove button

Delete a key from the list.
