Set up your Euphonix/Avid device in Logic Pro
Logic Pro supports the EuCon protocol developed by Euphonix. Avid acquired Euphonix in 2010, and newer EuCon devices now carry the Avid name. The EuCon protocol allows enhanced communication between Euphonix/Avid devices and Logic Pro. The current EuControl software can be downloaded from the Avid Download Center.
Important: EuCon support in Logic Pro works in a different way than other supported control surface devices. As a consequence, you cannot use the Controller Assignments window in Logic Pro to change assignments. See the documentation provided with your Euphonix/Avid device for information on the use of parameters and device features. EuCon devices do not appear in the Control Surfaces Setup window.
The term Euphonix/Avid device is used when describing all EUCON devices as a group, regardless of whether they are Avid or Euphonix-branded units. They include the Avid Artist series, MC Mix, MC Transport, and MC Control. The MC Professional devices (MC Pro, System 5-MC, and CM408T) are legacy devices by Euphonix that are no longer supported by the current EuCon protocol.
Note: This is an addendum to the Avid or Euphonix user documentation and is limited to descriptions of features specific to Logic Pro. Refer to the Avid or Euphonix documentation for more information about the individual control surfaces.
Depending on the specific Euphonix/Avid device you have, the setup process varies. Follow the steps below to use your Euphonix/Avid device with Logic Pro.
Set up your Euphonix/Avid Artist device for use with Logic Pro
Set up your device as described in the Euphonix/Avid Artist user documentation.
Install the latest EuCon software on your computer. If necessary, go to the Avid Download Center website to download the most recent software version.
With the EuControl application running on your computer, open Logic Pro.
Your Euphonix/Avid Artist device automatically connects to the application.
Note: When you connect a EuControl surface for the first time, you may need to open the EuControl app, and then, choose EuControl Settings > Surfaces, then add your device from the All Surfaces list to the My Surfaces list.
