You have many resources available to help you with your MacBook Pro—including the Tips app on your Mac, diagnostic tools and reports, and Apple Support.

Common questions about your MacBook Pro

How do I know which model of MacBook Pro I have? Choose Apple menu > About This Mac to view the model information. See the Apple Support article Identify your MacBook Pro model.

Where is my serial number? Choose Apple menu > About This Mac. The serial number is listed. You can also find the serial number on the bottom of your MacBook Pro

How do I find the tech specs for my Mac? Choose Apple menu > System Settings, click the Help menu in the menu bar, then choose MacBook Pro Specifications.

There’s a lot more information about how to use your MacBook Pro. If you want to learn more about your Mac or Apple apps on your Mac, check out the user guide in the Tips app or ask Siri a question.

Tips app

Open the Tips app on your Mac, type a question or term in the search field, then choose a topic from the results list. To see all user guides in the Tips app, click See All next to User Guides, then choose an option.

Siri

When Apple Intelligence* and Siri are turned on, you can ask Siri questions about your Mac and other Apple products. Click in the menu bar and ask something like “How do I take a screenshot on a Mac?”

Mac User Guide

The Mac User Guide contains much more information about how to use your MacBook Pro. You can view the Mac User Guide on the web or in the Tips app.

Help menu

To get help while working in an app, click the Help menu in the menu bar, then choose the [App] Help to open the user guide. Or type in the search field and choose a suggestion.

Tip: If you can’t remember where to find a menu item in an app, click the Help menu and search for it. Place the pointer over the result, and an arrow shows you the menu item.

Troubleshoot with System Report and Apple Diagnostics

You can find more information about your MacBook Pro by getting a System Report and running Apple Diagnostics.

System Report

System Report shows you information about your Mac’s hardware, memory, storage, network, software, and more. Choose Apple menu  > About This Mac, click More Info, then click System Report.

Apple Diagnostics

Apple Diagnostics helps to identify the potential source of a hardware issue and provides first steps to resolving it. Apple Diagnostics also helps you get in touch with AppleCare Support if you need more help.

Get more online, phone, and in-person support from Apple

If you need additional support with your Mac, Apple Support resources can help—both online and in the Apple Support app. To speak with an Apple representative, you can contact AppleCare over the phone or book a Genius Bar appointment at your local Apple Store.

If you have an iPhone, you can download the Apple Support app to get personalized access to solutions for all your Apple products and services. Download the Apple Support app, or search for it in the App Store on your iPhone.

If you need additional assistance, get phone support from Apple. Have the purchase date and your MacBook Pro serial number ready when you call. See the Apple Support article Contact Apple Support for a list of support phone numbers.

Genius Bar

For in-person support, repairs with genuine Apple parts, and more, you can book a Genius Bar reservation at your nearest Apple Store. Before your appointment, make sure you know your Apple Account sign-in information, bring your power cord and any other relevant accessories, back up your data, and have the latest version of macOS installed on your MacBook Pro.
