Magnify nearby objects with Magnifier on iPhone

You can use your iPhone as a magnifying glass to zoom in on objects near you.

Set up Magnifier

  1. Go to Settings  > Accessibility > Magnifier.

  2. Turn on Magnifier.

    This adds Magnifier as an accessibility shortcut.

Turn on Magnifier and adjust the image

  1. Use accessibility shortcuts to turn on Magnifier.

  2. To adjust the zoom level, drag the zoom control slider left or right.

  3. To show more controls, drag the grabber up.

  4. Adjust the image using any of the following controls:

    • Brightness: Tap the Brightness button.

    • Contrast: Tap the Contrast button.

    • Color filters: Tap the Filters button.

    • Flashlight: Tap the Flashlight button.

Tip: To organize the controls you use most often, tap the Settings button, then reorder the controls or tap Filter Customization to choose your favorite filters.

Freeze the frame

You can freeze one or more frames and review them.

Note: Freeze frames aren’t saved to Photos.

  1. Tap the Freeze Frame button.

  2. To freeze more frames, tap the Enter Multi Shot button, reposition the camera, then tap the Freeze Frame button.

  3. To review the freeze frames, tap View, then tap the frames you want to see.

  4. To return to the live lens, tap End.

To turn off Magnifier, do the following:

  • On an iPhone with Face ID: Swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen.

  • On an iPhone with a Home button: Press the Home button.
