Locate photos and videos by media type on iPad

In the Photos app, you can find collections of photos and videos organized by media type. For example, browse all your Portrait mode photos or time-lapse videos in one place.

Media Types is open in the Photos app, showing collections of videos, selfies, Live Photos, portraits, and more.

Browse photos and videos by media type

  1. Go to the Photos app on your iPad.

  2. Tap Collections, scroll down, then tap Media Types.

  3. Tap the type of photo or video you want to view.

Tip: To quickly locate your favorite media type, add it to the Pinned collection. See Pin collections and albums.

Reorder media types

You can reorder the list of media types to help you find the ones you access most often.

  1. Go to the Photos app on your iPad.

  2. Tap Collections, then tap Edit at the top of the screen.

  3. Touch and hold the media type you want to reorder, then drag it to a new position.

  4. When you’re done, tap the checkmark at the top of the screen.
