Switch to Mail on Mac

If you’re switching to the Mail app , start here to make a smooth transition. After you’ve added email accounts to Mail, you can customize your toolbar, organize with mailboxes, and more.

Access all your inboxes

Adding the All Inboxes mailbox to your favorites allows you to access all your inboxes for multiple accounts at once. In the mail sidebar, click the Add Mailbox button at the top of Favorites, and select All Inboxes from the pop-up menu.

Customize your toolbar

Customize your toolbar to quickly access your most used actions in Mail. Control-click any icon in the toolbar, choose Customize Toolbar, then drag your favorite items into the toolbar.

Organize with mailboxes

Using mailboxes is an easy way to organize emails. To create a mailbox, choose Mailbox > New Mailbox, choose a location for your mailbox, and add a name.

Get reminders

If you don’t have time to respond to an email right away, you can use Remind Me to set a reminder, and the message is moved back to the top of your inbox at that time. To use Remind Me, select a message, swipe right with two fingers on your trackpad, then click Remind Me.

Protect your privacy

You can prevent senders from viewing sensitive information—like your IP address and other data, by enabling Mail Privacy Protection. Choose Mail > Settings, click Privacy, then select Protect Mail Activity.
