View your movie on an HDTV in iMovie on iPad

You can view your movie on an external display, such as an HDTV, while you edit. This lets you view your clips, photos, titles, and filters on the big screen.

Note: Viewing your movie on an HDTV requires a compatible device and a separate HDMI adapter.

  1. Connect your device to your HDTV with an HDMI adapter.

  2. In the iMovie app on your iPad, tap the External Display button to switch between showing your movie while you edit and showing your movie during playback.
