Redeem an Apple Gift Card or a download code on Mac
If you receive an Apple Gift Card or a download code, you can redeem it in the App Store manually or using the Mac camera (if the gift card has a box around the code). See the Apple Support article What type of gift card do I have?
Redeem a gift card with the download code
Go to the App Store app
on your Mac.Click your name in the bottom-left corner (or click Sign In if you’re not signed in).
Click Redeem Gift Card in the top-right corner, then enter the download code or the code from your gift card.
Redeem a gift card with your Mac camera
If you have a gift card with a box around the download code, you can use the built-in camera on your Mac to redeem the card.
Go to the App Store app
on your Mac.Click your name in the bottom-left corner (or click Sign In if you’re not signed in).
Click Redeem Gift Card in the top-right corner.
Click Use Camera, then hold the gift card 10 to 18 centimetres (4 to 7 inches) from the camera. Make sure the code area is near the centre of the preview area, then hold the card steady until it’s redeemed.
