Adjust Apple TV app settings on Apple TV 4K
You can choose what appears in the Apple TV app 
, including Apple TV channels and apps, live scores, notifications, play history, and items in your watchlist.
You can also set up profile content restrictions or set up a 4-digit passcode to access a profile.
Set up or modify content restrictions for profiles
You can set up or modify content restrictions for any profiles that appear in Apple TV app settings. To set up a profile, see Add, remove, or delete profiles on Apple TV 4K.
Go to Settings
on Apple TV 4K.Go to Apps > TV, select [profile name], then select Restrictions.
If prompted, follow the onscreen instructions to confirm your account information by scanning a QR code with the camera on your phone or tablet, or opening a link in a web browser.
Do any of the following:
Filter content for movies: Select Movies, then choose a ratings option.
Filter content for TV shows: Select TV Shows, then choose a ratings option.
Set up profile access
You can set up profile access that requires a 4-digit passcode whenever you switch profiles in the Apple TV app. This keeps others from accessing your watch history, recommendations, and watchlist.
Go to Settings
on Apple TV 4K.Go to Apps > TV, select [profile name], then select Restrictions.
Select Require 4-Digit Code.
If prompted, follow the onscreen instructions to confirm your account information by scanning a QR code with the camera on your phone or tablet, or opening a link in a web browser.
Enter a 4-digit passcode, then reenter it to confirm.
To change the passcode after it has been created, select Change 4-Digit Code. To disable profile access, click Require 4-Digit Code.
Adjust other Apple TV app settings
Go to Settings
on Apple TV 4K.Go to Apps > TV, then adjust any of the settings listed below.

Use Play History
Turn on to allow the Apple TV app to use your play history for personalized recommendations and Continue Watching.
Show Sports Scores
Turn off to hide live sports scores in the Apple TV app.
Sync My Sports
Turn on to follow sports leagues and teams across Apple News, Apple TV, and other Apple apps when you’re signed in with the same Apple Account.
Play Next Episode
Turn on to start the next episode automatically when watching in the Apple TV app.
Play a Recommendation
Turn on to play recommended content automatically after watching a series, movie, or sporting event in the Apple TV app.
Top Shelf
Determines what appears on the Home Screen when the Apple TV app is highlighted in the top row.
Choose What to Watch to see previews of featured TV shows and movies, or choose Continue Watching to see what’s next in your personal queue.
Games in Continue Watching
Turn on to get Game Start and Close Game notifications for games you’ve added to your watchlist.
Exciting Games
Turn on to get notifications about recommended sports and events.
Streaming Video Quality
Determines streaming video quality in the Apple TV app.
Choose Best for the best quality available based on your TV and connection, Better to watch videos in HD and use more of your data, or Good to watch videos in SD and use less of your data.
Autoplay Video Sound
Turn on to hear sound for background videos that automatically play in the Apple TV app.
Video Definition
Determines the video quality for purchases and rentals in the Apple TV app.
Choose High Definition or Standard Definition. If you choose Standard Definition, only videos in standard definition will be shown as an option when you purchase or rent videos.
Connect to TV
Select Apple TV 4K channels and apps that you want to share content with the Apple TV app.
Clear Search History
Select to remove information about what the current profile has searched in the Apple TV app on Apple TV 4K.
Clear Play History
Select to remove information about what the current profile has watched in the Apple TV app across all devices. This also removes TV shows and movies from the profile’s Continue Watching row.
