Rotate your iPad screen

Many apps give you a different view when you rotate iPad.

Rotate the screen

  1. To make sure the rotation lock is off, open Control Center, then tap the Lock Rotation button if it’s red.

  2. Turn your iPad sideways.

In the background, iPad displays a Notes screen in portrait orientation; in the foreground, iPad is rotated and shows the Notes screen in landscape orientation.

Lock or unlock the screen orientation

You can lock the screen orientation so that it doesn’t change when you rotate iPad.

Open Control Center, then tap the Lock Rotation button.

When the screen orientation is locked, the Lock Rotation icon appears in the status bar.
