Play podcasts on iPhone

In the Podcasts app , you can play, pause, or skip ahead using the playback controls, set a sleep timer, and stream content to another device.

Ask Siri. Say something like: “Play the newest episode of ‘The Daily’ podcast.” Learn how to ask Siri.

Play a podcast

  1. Tap an episode.

  2. For more playback controls, tap the player at the bottom to open the Now Playing screen.

    The playback controls on the Now Playing screen. Below the podcast artwork, drag the track position slider to rewind or move ahead. Below the episode title, there are buttons to rewind, play or pause, and fast forward. Below those is the volume control. In the bottom-left corner is the control for changing the playback speed. In the bottom-right corner is the More button.

    Use any of the following controls:

    the Play button

    Play

    the Pause button

    Pause

    the 15 Seconds Rewind button

    Jump back 15 seconds

    the 30 Seconds Fast Forward button

    Jump forward 30 seconds

    the Playback Speed button

    Choose a faster or slower playback speed

    the Playback Destination button

    Stream the audio to other devices

    Tip: To jump to a specific time in the episode, drag the track position slider below the podcast artwork.

  3. Swipe up on the Now Playing screen to see the sleep timer, sharing options, episode notes, and your Up Next queue.

To resume playing an episode, tap Listen Now. Episodes you haven’t finished are near the top of the list.
