Stylize effects in Pixelmator Pro on Mac
Pixelmator Pro includes Stylize effects to apply artistic treatments and creative visual effects to your images:
Light Leak imitates analog photography errors with colorful, glowing streaks of light.
Bokeh adds artistic, colorful bokeh shapes.
Vignette gradually darkens outer edges to draw attention to the center.
Pixelate creates a pixel effect by increasing the perceived size of the image’s pixels.
Pointillize transforms images into pointillist painting styles with adjustable dot sizes.
Crystallize renders images as crystal-inspired geometric shapes.
Bloom softens edges and applies an ethereal glow around bright areas.
Gloom dulls highlights and applies dark, moody atmospheric effects.
Spot Light adds adjustable spotlights with precise illumination and shadow control.
Posterize recreates images using fewer colors for silk-screen poster effects.
Grain adds realistic analog film texture to digital images.
Noise adds a color or monochrome digital texture.
Comics simulates comic book drawings with edge outlines and color halftones.
Adjusting stylize effects
Stylize effects have the following adjustment controls in the Effects pane. You can access the controls after applying an effect to a layer or adding an effects layer.

Sunniness | Light Leak | Drag this slider to add warmth to the light leak effect. |
Hue | Bokeh | Rotate this wheel to adjust the color of the bokeh shapes. |
Radius | Vignette, Bloom, Gloom, Pointillize, Crystallize, Spot Light | Drag this slider to adjust the size of the affected area. In Vignette, it controls how much of the image is darkened. In Bloom and Gloom, it controls the spread of lighting change. In Pointillize and Crystallize, it controls the size of points and crystals. In Spot Light, it controls how much of an area is illuminated. |
Intensity | Vignette, Bloom, Gloom, Grain | Drag this slider to control effect strength. In Vignette, negative values brighten edges instead of darkening. In Bloom and Gloom, it controls the strength of the glow. In Grain, it controls grain visibility. |
Falloff | Vignette | Drag this slider to adjust how gradually the edges darken. |
Size | Grain | Drag this slider to adjust the size of grain particles. |
Scale | Pixelate | Drag this slider to adjust the size of pixel blocks used to create the effect. |
Levels | Posterize | Drag this slider to choose how much of the image colors are preserved. Lower values intensify the posterize effect. |
Monochrome | Noise | Select this checkbox to make the added image noise black-and-white. |
Light Color | Spot Light | Click this color well to choose the spotlight color. |
Background Color | Spot Light | Click this color well to choose the shadow color. |
Concentration | Spot Light | Drag this slider to the right to make the spot light effect more diffuse. |
