Control surfaces supported by Logic Pro

The table shows control surfaces directly supported by Logic Pro. The table covers only the control surface use of devices with Logic Pro, not any other facilities such as audio input or output. The specific control surface support for each of these devices can be found in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

Directly supported control surfaces communicate with Logic Pro via special plug-in files located in the /Contents/MIDI Device Plug-ins subfolder of the Logic Pro application bundle. To view the bundle contents, Control-click the Logic Pro application icon, and choose Show Package Contents from the shortcut menu. Logic Pro also checks for control surface plug-ins installed in the ~/Library/Application Support/MIDI Device Plug-ins and ~/Library/Application Support/MIDI Device Plug-ins folders.

When new control surface plug-ins are supplied directly by the device manufacturer, place them in the folders described above or as advised in the documentation supplied with the plug-in.

Note: Many supported devices provide an emulation mode for the Mackie Control Universal (MCU) or HUI protocol. In essence, Logic Pro recognizes the device as an MCU or HUI. In some cases, the device may automatically switch to DAW controller mode or you may need to manually switch it to MCU or HUI mode. See the support documentation of your controller for details on use of emulated control modes.

The table does not cover USB MIDI controllers supported with MIDI plug-ins supplied by the manufacturer or devices supported with Lua scripts. Refer to the documentation provided by the manufacturer if using a device that provides a third-party MIDI plug-in. For Lua supported devices, see Automatic assignment for USB MIDI controllers in Logic Pro for details.

Important: Some devices are supported by both a Lua script and a control surface plug-in. In this situation, the control surface plug-in always has precedence. Some manufacturers may also provide control surface plug-ins for their devices. When you install a third-party plug-in, any existing assignments of a corresponding Lua script for the device are automatically replaced with assignments generated by the control surface plug-in.

Notes

01V96

Yamaha

Emulates two HUI units, using two virtual MIDI In and Out connections over a USB cable. For more information, see Yamaha 01V96 in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

01X

Yamaha

Emulates a Mackie Control. It does not feature all controls available to the Mackie units, however. Refer to the 01X documentation for details. Logic Pro recognizes the 01X as an 01X, and displays a custom icon, but communication is as with a Mackie Control unit.

02R96

Yamaha

Emulates three HUI units, using three virtual MIDI In and Out connections over a USB cable. For more information, see Yamaha 02R96 in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

Baby HUI

Mackie

A smaller version of the HUI. For more information, see Mackie Baby HUI in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

C4

Mackie

For more information, see Mackie C4 in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

CM408T (System 5-MC)

Avid (Euphonix)

For more information, see Euphonix devices in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

CS-32 MiniDesk

JLCooper

For more information, see JLCooper CS-32 MiniDesk in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

DM1000

Yamaha

Emulates two HUI units, using two virtual MIDI In and Out connections over a USB cable. For more information, see Yamaha DM1000 in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

DM2000

Yamaha

Emulates three HUI units, using three virtual MIDI In and Out connections over a USB cable. For more information, see Yamaha DM2000 in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

FaderMaster 4/100

JLCooper

For more information, see JLCooper Fadermaster 4/100 in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

HUI

Mackie

For more information, see Mackie HUI in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

iControl

M-Audio

For more information, see M-Audio iControl in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

KONTROL49/microKONTROL

Korg

For more information, see Korg microKONTROL and KONTROL 49 in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

Logic Control

Mackie/Emagic

For more information, see Mackie Control in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

Logic Control XT

Mackie/Emagic

This is the extension unit for the Logic Control. It offers only the channel strip section, making it less useful without a Logic (or Mackie) Control. For more information, see Mackie Control in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

Mackie Control

Mackie

The Mackie Control hardware is similar to the Logic Control. The front panel legend is different, however. If your unit has firmware version 1.02 or later, you can use either Logic Control or Mackie Control mode. For more information, see Mackie Control in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

Mackie Control Extender

Mackie

Mackie-badged version of the Logic Control XT. If you have firmware version 1.02 or later, you can use either Logic Control or Mackie Control mode. For more information, see Mackie Control in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

Mackie Control Universal (Pro)

Mackie

A Mackie Control with Logic Control silk screening (legend) and firmware version 2.0 or later (including HUI emulation). If your unit has firmware version 1.02 or later, you can use either Logic Control or Mackie Control mode. For more information, see Mackie Control in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

MC / MC Artist

Avid (Euphonix)

For more information, see Euphonix devices in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

MCS3

JLCooper

For more information, see JLCooper MCS3 in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

microKONTROL

Korg

For more information, see Korg microKONTROL and KONTROL49 in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

Motormix

CM Labs

For more information, see CM Labs Motormix in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

Nucleus

Solid State Logic

Emulates multiple MCU or HUI units (fader banks are grouped on the left and right sides of the central parameters). For more information, see Mackie Control or Mackie HUI in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

SI-24

Roland

For more information, see Roland SI-24 in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.

TranzPort

Frontier Design Group

For more information, see Frontier Design TranzPort in the Logic Pro Control Surfaces Support documentation.
