Time mode in MainStage

Using Time mode in Beat Breaker, you can change the Input Beat, Speed, and Curve parameters for each slice.

  • Click the Time button to select Time mode.

Figure. Time mode in Beat Breaker.

Time mode parameters

  • Input Beat: Set the start position of the selected slice. By changing the start position of slices, you can “chop up” your audio and rearrange it.

  • Speed: Adjust the speed of the selected slice. Negative values play the audio in reverse.

  • Curve: Adjust the speed of playback throughout the selected slice.

Tip: To create a reverse fill, set the Speed parameter of one or two slices at the end of your pattern to −100%. The rest of the audio plays forward while those slices play in reverse, creating a turntable-style effect without committing the entire pattern to reverse playback.

Set the Input Beat parameter

  • Click a slice, then drag up or down to adjust the Input Beat value.

Set the Speed parameter

  • Click a slice, then drag left or right to adjust the Speed value.

Set the Curve parameter

  • Click a slice, press Command, then drag up or down to adjust the Curve value.
