Overview of exporting and bouncing surround and Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos projects in Logic Pro for Mac

In Logic Pro for Mac, you can bounce or export your surround and Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos project to many different file types. Two groups of files, channel-based and object-based files, determine how you can play back those files.

Channel-based files

Channel-based files are audio files that you can listen to on a standard playback device, such as an iPhone, your Mac, or a CD player and Blu-ray player. These files are similar to regular stereo audio files, just containing more channels, depending on the surround form of your project. See Bounce a surround project.

A Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos project can also be bounced to a channel-based audio file. You can choose the channel format of the file, such as 5.1 or 7.1, or bounce it to a two-channel binaural audio file to listen to on headphones. See Bounce a Spatial Audio project to a channel-based file.

Object-based files

To deliver a Spatial Audio mix to a mastering engineer or to a music delivery service, you export the Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos project to a Dolby Atmos ADM BWF master file. That object-based file contains all the information related to the immersive mix. See Export a Spatial Audio project to a Dolby Atmos ADM BWF master file.

A Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos project can also be exported to a specially encoded MP4 file for various quality control purposes. See Export a Spatial Audio project to an MP4 file.
