UNIQUE

The UNIQUE function returns each individual value present in an array.

UNIQUE(array, unique-by, occurrence)

array: The array containing the values to return.

unique-by: A Boolean value of either TRUE or FALSE.

by row (FALSE or omitted): Returns unique values across rows.

by column (TRUE): Returns unique values across columns.

occurrence: A Boolean value of either TRUE or FALSE.

distinct (FALSE or omitted): Returns all unique values.

exactly once (TRUE): Returns values that only appear once.

=UNIQUE(A2:A11) returns an array of each individual name in column A.

=UNIQUE(A2:A11,, TRUE) returns “Brandon” because it is the only name in the array that appears once.
