Sync audio to a video hit point

When editing audio for scenes in video, tempo adjustments are often needed to ensure that the audio is synchronized with a specific frame or key visual event (known as a hit point). Logic Pro for Mac can automatically increase or decrease the tempo events leading up to the hit point so that the audio aligns precisely. You set the hit point using an absolute time position or the playhead position.

Tip: You can generate movie scene markers from scene cuts in the Movie track to use as hit points. See Use movie scene markers.

Sync audio to a video hit point

  1. In Logic Pro, do one of the following:

    • Select the tempo point for the start of the scene, any tempo points for mid-scene changes, and the tempo point for the hit point.

    • Select the tempo point for the start of the scene, any tempo points for mid-scene changes, then place the playhead where the hit point occurs.

  2. Control-click the Tempo track, then choose Set Time For Last Selected Tempo Event.

  3. In the dialog, choose one of the following:

    • Playhead Position: Uses the playhead position for the hit point.

    • Manual Position: Lets you enter a time position for the hit point.

      Tip: You can copy the time position from the LCD and paste it to the Time Position field.

    Logic Pro adjusts the tempo values of all selected tempo points, except the last, so that the audio aligns with the hit point.
