Normalize audio regions in the Tracks area in Logic Pro for Mac

You can normalize the gain of selected audio regions in the Tracks area without opening the regions in the Audio Track Editor. In Logic Pro for Mac, the Normalize Region Gain menu command is nondestructive: the original file isn’t altered, only the normalized region.

When Enable Complete Features is selected in Logic Pro > Settings > Advanced, the Normalize Region Gain command is available in the Functions menu.

Normalize the gain of audio regions in the Tracks area

  1. In the Logic Pro Tracks area, select one or more audio regions. You can select all regions on a track by clicking the track header (when “Select regions on track selection” is turned on in Logic Pro > Settings > General > Editing).

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Choose Functions > Normalize Region Gain in the Tracks area menu bar.

    • Control-click one of the selected regions, then choose Processing > Normalize Region Gain from the shortcut menu.

  3. In the Normalize Gain dialog, do the following:

    1. In the Process pop-up menu, choose whether individual regions, individual tracks, or the entire selection is normalized.

    2. In the Method pop-up menu, choose the normalization algorithm to use (Peak or Loudness).

    3. Use the Target Level value slider to set the level of normalization in decibels (Peak) or in LUFS (Loudness).

    4. Click Apply.
