Expectations of ultra-cheap DDR5 from China’s CXMT are overstated, as memory vendors at Computex say its pricing is broadly in line with Samsung, SK hynix, and Micron.
While CXMT has some capacity advantages and less focus on high-margin AI and HBM products, it doesn’t currently have enough cost or efficiency edge to significantly undercut established players. As a result, any potential price benefits for consumer DDR5 are expected to be minimal.
