About the Change[]

I see that InAHypickle (StuckInAHypickle on this wiki) gave you little information about the change and was even a little misleading. So, I'll clarify some things.

As you know, Fandom's Forking Policy doesn't allow links to the new wiki; this has been part of the policy since its publication in 2022 and possibly since its internal creation in 2015. However, like most Minecraft Wiki users, I didn't think much of it. Aside from advertising, I initially never put in much effort to remove links to the fork. In November, however, a Fandom staff member removed an innocuous link. I took this mean that no links were allowed outside of the main discussion, so I removed links across the wiki, including your message on the community portal, which staff confirmed to be correct. A few months later, I archived the community portal. The link was still removed from your message, so that's how it was archived. It's been that way ever since—until Noisy miner tried to change it last month.

These are Fandom's rules; their staff have written and interpreted them, and they are not something I can override. Still, I will enforce them, just as I might enforce Fandom's Terms of Use or you might enforce Wikipedia's rules, even if you didn't write those rules and even if you disagree with them in a particular instance. Meanwhile, both of us still have the power to ask Fandom to change the rules if we want to. SLScool 16:17, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
