PORTABLE AGENT HARNESS
Open Harness is the portable layer between your repository and your coding agent. The repository defines one isolated, persistent Docker workspace, so the agent gets a consistent environment and your machine stays clean.
Keep one project and its toolchain in one Docker sandbox instead of installing project dependencies on your host.
Use the same persistent workspace locally or on a remote VM, with your preferred coding agent inside it.
Use isolated git worktrees for parallel branches and delegated work without mixing their working directories.
Open Harness options
Choose Mifune-managed Open Harness Cloud or operate the MIT-licensed project yourself. Cloud customers can add Mifune engineering support when adoption needs hands-on help.
Recommended · Managed by Mifune
Give coding agents an isolated, persistent Open Harness workspace while Mifune operates the managed environment.
Self-hosted · Maintained by Mifune
Inspect, adapt, and operate the MIT-licensed Open Harness workspace yourself, locally or on a remote VM.
Common questions
What the workspace does, who operates it, and how Mifune can help.
Open Harness is an MIT-licensed, isolated, persistent Docker workspace for coding agents. It keeps one project and its toolchain in one sandbox and supports Claude Code, Codex, Pi, and other opt-in agent CLIs.
Open Harness keeps project toolchains off your host and gives coding agents a workspace that persists between sessions. It can run locally or on a remote VM; remote agents can work unattended or on schedules and can be reachable over Slack. Isolated git worktrees support parallel branches and delegation.
Mifune maintains the open-source Open Harness project, operates Open Harness Cloud as the managed path, and offers forward-deployed engineering support to Cloud customers.
With Open Harness Cloud, Mifune operates the managed environment. With open source, your team can inspect and adapt Open Harness, then operate it locally or on a remote VM. Choose based on who should own the environment and review each destination for path-specific details.
Forward-deployed support is optional for Open Harness Cloud customers who want Mifune engineers alongside their team to plan, implement, integrate, troubleshoot, or hand off a Cloud deployment.
Open console.mifune.dev for the managed Cloud path. Visit github.com/mifunedev/openharness and read the docs at oh.mifune.dev for the self-hosted path. Email [email protected] to discuss engineering support for Cloud.
